I had a similar whine...it disappeared when I changed the tire. Avon venom X's before and after...strange tho, the one I replaced really wasn't worn out.

Well, I got the product...arrived here in less than 2 weeks. Total cost including shipping to Canada was $129. I reverse-flushed the coolant, put in a can of rad-flush....ran it for about 15 min at around 2000 rpm....reverse-flushed it again. Then I installed a new 180 degree thermostat and at the same time replaced the thermostat housing (was rusting thru at the seam), put a new upper rad hose on and put the Thermagasket in...ran it again around 2000-2500 rpm for 15 min (after it came up to temp). NO MORE LEAK!

Clicking noise from rear end

I don't have a clicking noise coming from my rear end but..... that "blat-a-tat-tat" accompanied by a distinctive smell sure is bothersome~!- 14 replies

HA! ... there is one...and only ONE method necessary for that! ... DUMP IT... and put something else on... anything...windows 3.1 even LOL (exception... DO NOT put Windows Millenium on ... it's about parallel with Vista ...arrrgghhhhh)

Newman, glad you got a chuckle outta that ... I'm right there with ya ... but more often than not, it's the users I'd like to do the physical boot to LOL. At the present time, I administer and support a small network of just under 100 users and 5 servers running Win2003 enterprise. This group isn't too bad but over the years there's been quite a few folks I'd liked to have said something like.."you're too stupid to own a computer...take it back"... but ya can't do that...just gotta have a lot of patience. It's no wonder I'm bald today tho LOL

Computer terminology .... "boot" is a commonly known word. There are 3 ways to "boot" the computer... Cold Boot ... this means starting it from a power off state. Warm Boot ... this means doing a "restart" from an already running state. Physical Boot ... this means KICK THE CRAP outta it when nothin else works.

good idea Don and as I'm one of those ones that "do it for a living", I'll glady pitch in whenever I can.

Ratcheting noise, help me !

It very well could be the splines at the differential end of the driveshaft. Not the driveshaft itself but the splined sleeve whatchamacallit the driveshaft goes into. Called the "coupling gear" Part #10 in the pic -
Being from Western Canada, I'm a bit disappointed that once past the "nationals" it goes first to Ontario and then Quebec. We westerners should know about those places????

Fuel stabilizer, sea foam, this...that... geeez... I've never put a thing in my gas ... my bike (all of the ones I've owned).. get parked around Oct 15th and never get run again till April... they've been parked inside / outside / in freezing cold (minus 30 celcius)... now here on the WET west coast... you name it ... rarely have issues getting them running in the spring... so I wonder, why do so many seem to have this problem? What I do is leave them with about 1/4 tank of gas...in the spring, I fill them up with fresh gas from a jerry can...charge the battery and if they stammer or stutter and seem to have trouble getting going, I use a spray bottle and spray a bit of raw gas into the air intake....in no time at all, they're running smoothly. Couple times years ago I've used ether but that's a bit dangerous. I did try the seafoam last spring tho... didn't notice much improvement as it seemed to be running good to begin with...just thought I'd try it out to see what, if any, difference it would make. well that's just my experience...mebbe I been lucky?

I have a Chilton Motorcycle repair manual for sale if anyone's interested. Covers BMW, BSA, Bultaco, Harley, Honda, Kawasaki, Montesa, MotoGuzzi, Norton, OSSA, Suzuki, Truimph, Yamaha .... I'm gussing it's for bikes around 1970 era as I got it when I had my '72 Truimph back around 1976. The book was published in 1974. It's in pretty good shape...has a bit of a "burn" on the edge of the front cover that extends to the first 2 or 3 pages. 1376 pages in total. No idea what this book is worth so if anyone's interested, make me a offer...I'll ship it COD or will find out shipping cost and add that to the price.

Not to mention that all their 4-way stop signs have been re-signed with the words "All Way" ...

Thanks for the info... I fussed over where this leak was coming from for a long time....it sure appears to be coming from between the head and the block very close to the front of the engine on the right side. Where the head and the block meet...I can wipe it clean, run the engine for a while and eventually will see coolant seeping out there. I was hoping it would be something like a timing chain cover but I doubt it.

THIS could get to be a real political issue, real quick. IMHO, racism exists only in the minds of those who feel they are "different" and it is usually them who bring the issue of racism into something.

At this point, there is no coolant getting into the combustion chamber or the oil or vice versa so I want to "nip it in the bud" before that happens. I've parked the vehicle until I the product is delivered. So I've heard....thanks.

I partially agree with you Kit .... I don't expect this stuff to be a permanent fix ... just a "patch job" until the weather gets warmer so I can work on it without freezing my *blank*s off (starts with a "b" and ends with 2 "L"s and has an "a" in the middle) LOL Having said that, I never pass judgement on something I've never personally tried out....it's good to hear opinions but I'm one of those "show me" kinda guys.

I'm curious to know what it cost you Don, to heat your home for a year. It cost me around $1200+ and I don't even live in a cold climate and that's for natural gas here in BC. I live in a 2000 Sq ft house...main floor on upper level and small bachelor suite on ground level.

Hey thanks for this info Jim ... what do you mean by "TSP"? Considering what you said here, I think I'll do the reverse flush first, then put in a cooling system cleaner... run that for a while and then reverse flush it again so that the remaining water is totally clear before I put the thermogasket stuff in. I'm quite familiar with this sort of thing as in my younger years I took training and worked as a mechanic (non-licensed).

Thanks for the info thom ... I placed an order today. Hopefully it will get me thru until warmer weather when I can rip the engine apart myself outside and replace those head gaskets (might as well do em both) and anything else that needs fixin. Prolly a good time to have the heads shaved just in case they're warped (one most likely is) and have the valves ground and seated, springs checked and replaced as necc, oil seals... oh what the h&LL... might as well yank the pistons and put in new rings, con rod bearings, crank bearings, camshaft, ......... hmmmmmm .... mebbe simpler to just buy a brand new long block....or a whole truck!! haha
