  1. any chance the antenna cable is being caught by the wind and causing it to slightly disconnect from the unit? Sounds crazy, I know but ..... I just put a new XM unit on mine...haven't had a chance yet to get out riding but I sure hope I don't have this problem....or any other for that matter!
  2. John.. there is a "speed limiter valve" in these things.... you need to get the Sirus De-Limiter add-on part #8539 ....
  3. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
  4. didn't ya like the taste of gas? I was a master at syphoning LOL and I was Juicy Fruit gum's biggest customer LOL
  5. Dang... guess I shoulda checked here first! ..... ya don't happen to have a GPS unit to give away do ya?
  6. For me, aside from the fact that I like to listen to tunes and we have a good selection of local stations here, I find that my stock 1st gen stereo fades out a lot (loses signal strength). Now, that's probably due to the crappy antenna but even if I put $$$ into the stock system, I'm still stuck to whatever FM channels I can receive in whatever area I am in, PLUS... I gotta listen to all the advertising and other "jabber". With the XM, I can listen to whatever kind of music I want, pretty much wherever I am, and a lot more. So, for $30 plus the subscription fee's.... I LIKE IT A LOT! Oh yeah, and I didn't sacrifice any beer to buy it either LOL
  7. DANG! ... mail-in rebate only good in the USA! (so says the super fine print)
  8. crikey!!! Price at the pump yesterday was $1.347 ... that's about $6.11 / Canadian gallon !! (or $5.09 / US Gallon) (if my math is right?) It costs me more now to fill my lawnmower that it used to cost to fill up the scoot a few years back.
  9. On top of the sale price, I just found a mail-in rebate on their website for $20 so, if I actually get it (a lot of mail-in rebates never seem to go anywhere) ... that's $9.95 for this radio!!! can't beat that!
  10. I was browsing around London Drugs yesterday ... lotta stuff on sale ... came across this ... http://store.xmfanstore.com/xpress.html Regular price $99 .... on sale for $29.95 !! Did I buy it... you betcha! ... Works great and looks good sitting there on my scoot. Anyone have experience with this product? I hope it's not some kinda DUD.
  11. you have more than one???
  12. THREE YEARS !!! WOW !!! Well, I had 2 trial runs before so mebbe this time I got it right.
  13. BEE's !!! when I was young and foolish (now I'm old and foolish!) I rode with a light shirt on held by 2 buttons... felt a BEE trapped between my shirt and my back (shirt was out like a sail in the wind). I musta looked crazy as I rode along, whacking my back trying to kill the bee... finally got it... 2 seconds later, got stung by his buddy that was in there also! 'nuther time, got a BEE between my helmet and my ear... bzzzz bzzzzzzzzz MAN those things are loud and scary... pulled off the road and jumped off the bike before it even came to a stop... yanked my helmet off as the bike fell over... away flew a housfly!! ggrrrrrrrrrrr!!
  14. years ago I got hit by something that felt as big as that... I was riding into the sun...windshield was an old one...hard to see out of at the best of time so I was sitting up straight...looking over the top of it when... **wham** ... right on the nose it got me... I almost lost control of the bike...made me jerk my head to the side it hit so hard... slowed down and stopped and blood was streaming from a gash in my nose... damn did that ever hurt!
  15. me too .... uhhh .... oh .... you mean the colors on the screen....
  16. I just checked it out... you can KEEP IT!!
  17. A monthly fee is ok with me too. A suggestion though, Don, maybe some thought should be given to moving the site to a different hosting company? Is it possible that your current hosting company is not keeping their servers up to date? .... hardware is getting old? ... etc. There are all kinds of reason's there that might be "jamming up" their servers. Just yesterday I transferred our email hosting to a different supplier because the one we were with was continuously having problems and emails were always slow arriving from the source. I did a lot of "debugging" to ensure it was the hosting company. Today, emails arrive almost instantaneously thru the new host. N-E-Wayz .... just a thought.
  18. With all that crappy weather happenin, the bike was prolly expectin snow and let out some air for better traction..... :scratchchin:
  19. hehehe... appears to be re-sending prev msg (gol danged teknologie)
  20. I should be so lucky....they're usually MUCH BIGGER 'n me -OR- the Warden is sittin behind me and it's most often the latter!
  21. I don't get this. I like it when another rider comes up beside at a stop light...for 2 reason's ..... an opportunity to meet another biker .... and another opportunity to smoke another biker ! :rotf:
  22. Here's what I did to paint mine (actually, a re-do from last year). I went to an auto paint supply house that has a spray can filling machine. I had them mix up automotive paint into the spray can for the color coat. I got myself a good compressor and spray gun and bought some professional automotive clear (comes in 2 part clear & hardener). After I got the color coats on (generally 3 coats), I then applied 2 coats of clear. I waited for that to dry overnight and then I wet sanded with 1200 grit very lightly especially at the edges. Cleaned that all up and shot a final coat of clear. Awesome! The reason for the re-do is coz I had a couple "screw-ups" that I wasn't happy with and the clear I used a year ago (spray can) didn't produce as good of a job as I really was looking for (although it wasn't too bad...I'm just real fussy). I could have gone without using the spray can for the color coat but they wouldn't sell the reducer needed for the paint in smaller quantities than a gallon! ... wayyyyy more than needed. hope some of my info is of some help for ya.... have fun!
  23. I've also done fiberglassing as well as used a product like JB weld specifically designed for ABS plastics. I've also done plastic welding using a standard soldering gun with a flat tip on it. It really works well with a bit of practise but ya still have to use either the JB weld or the fiberglass depending on how bad it is. I only used the fiberglass when there was a piece missing soas to cover the hole left. For finishing, use a high-quality primer/filler over the repair. SEM makes a good product and available in a spray bomb. I'd stay away from "Plasti-coat" or enamel based primers because your topcoat paint that you choose might have a bad reaction with it. Lacquer based primers work well coz they are compatible with most top coat finishes.
  24. I had the Jardines on my '85. Good lookin and great sound; however, I did find it a bit annoying (at times). Seems to me I paid around $380 back in 2000 when I bought them.
  25. I've done the "kill button" thing too but the one that makes me feel the most stupid is when I couldn't get the key to turn the ignition on the car. I tried and tried to no avail and I was getting really PO'd ....I even went back inside the house to get the wife's keys, thinking there was something wrong with mine....and of course, I reported to her about it .... then I discovered that the pressure of the steering wheel was preventing it from coming out of the "locked" position. Seems my wife has a habit of turning the key off before letting go of the steering wheel and if it's slightly turned, it will apply back pressure against the steering lock. Well, the both of us had a real good laff over that!
