Typical ... when they can't figgure it out ... start replacing things one by one until the problem is gone... You wind up paying for a whole lotta things you didn't need.

I disagree on that...if anything it will push the RSV style scoot far ahead of the competition as long as they do a few more small refinements such as maybe built-in CD, GPS, XM, etc (creature comforts) , reverse would be nice ... offer ABS, adjustable/vented windshield, more color choices, as options. IMHO, the RSV is already on par with an Ultra Classic and has a far better warranty. Goldwing, although similar "class" is the "Cadillac" of the 3 (or should I say the Mercedes).

I say " IXNAY " to the trailer for that exact reason. I once saw a guy who had his somewhat large dog in an open cage sitting on a trailer behind his bike. I asked him..."have you ever sat behind a vehicle when it is running and inhaled the exhaust? Would you? (NO) ... then why subject your best friend to that?" ... The guy just wasn't thinking and he admitted it.

It would be interesting to know what the statistics are in your area compared to others that would support your belief. Not being "debating" but I'm not 100% a believer of that concept although I can tell ya, if I happened to see a jerk attempting to steal my truck or break into my house, etc, if I had a gun I'd probably shoot the bum first, ask questions later ... and that's where I think the concept goes wrong. Having said that tho, if the threat of being shot was commonplace for would-be criminals, they might...just "might" think twice about such things..... so many pro's and con's to this one eh!

It's been so long since I felt safe enuf to live as you do I can't even remember what that was like. We live in an area that, a couple years ago, had the highest rate of auto thefts in all of Canada. I did live way out in the country near a very small community between 1980 & 1983 and nobody locked nuthin around there but before that I probably locked things up for many years. Even after we moved to the country, I was locking the doors etc just as a foce of habit. I'm sure I was the only one in the area doing that LOL. I guess it's all a matter of where ya live and it's getting to the point that there are fewer and fewer "safe" places anywhere on this continent.

yep... some vehicles are "special" and we never stop wishing we still had them. I have a "thing" for '94 - '96 Dakota's ... unfortunately they are 12th on a list of 25 most commonly stolen vehicles LOL.

cops recovered my truck about 20 miles away in another city. Only "visible" damage is to the door handle and the ignition switch (according to them). Probably be a couple weeks or a bit less by the time I get it back from the repair shop tho. I haven't seen it yet so not sure if the jerks who stole it ran the crap out of it or not or just exactly what overall condition it's in. Was probably crack heads needing transportation for either themselves or some stolen property.

It seems more like November or maybe February based on the weather this week. Today's high temp is 10 celcius (49 F) ... normals would be 18 c (64 F). The whole week is going this way... what happened??? May was great...warm...sunny most of the time... I'm even sporting a "farmer's tan" from being out in the sun.... 3 weeks ago I was in my cutoffs...no shirt..and looking for shade! I could go up to the north country and find warmer weather! sheeeeesh! Global Warming??.... not here! If anything, it's getting worse.

OK..so I checked into this and our insurance company (ICBC) which is government only gives a discount on your Comprehensive or Specified Perils coverages ONLY if you're using a "Passive Electronic Immobilizer". The amount of the discount is dependant on the type of vehicle and the area you live. Had meeting with the adjuster today and I'm covered with a $300 deductible but no deals for having a club installed.

I tried resampling the image in Corel Photopaint but even tho I can change the dpi, the resolution is still distorted when the pic is made bigger. Here's a snippet of info about this process.... When the Resample Image box is checked, any changes you make to an image's width or height will not change the image's resolution, and as such, any changes you make to an image's resolution will not affect the image's width and height. Keep in mind, however, when you increase width and height, or resolution, you are adding pixels to your image. These pixels don't actually exist so Photoshop must create them. As such, you will succeed only in degrading the quality of your image. If you want to increase an image's width and height, or resolution, then uncheck the Resample Image box. Now any changes you make to the image's width and height will change the image's resolution, and vice versa: •If you decrease resolution, the width and height will increase •If you increase resolution, the width and height will decrease •If you increase the width or height, the resolution will decrease •If you decrease the width or height, the resolution will increase The best way to increase the width and height of a scanned image is to scan the image in at a high resolution (about twice what your final resolution should be), and with the Resample Image box unchecked, decrease the resolution or increase the width and height — both will yield similar results. Once the image width and height is where you want it, you can then check the Resample Image box and type in the resolution you want. At this point, as long as you don't increase resolution, or width and height, your image quality will not suffer.

The resolution is such that enlarging them would only distort. See att'd "resolution" info. Don't know if it's possible to change the pixel count or dpi on an existing file.

impressive!! and a good indication of what's to come in the next generation of RSV's I think

hmmmmmmm... I'll have to look into that....frankly tho, I'm skeptical (as I usually am LOL)

I don't know anything about that... I have insurance coverage...they will pay me out if it's not recovered within I think 28 days or if it's recovered and it's a write-off. The problem is, since it's an older truck (1996), I'll have to fight with them over what they will pay. They are notorious for low-balling. A few years ago my g/f at the time had her car rear ended and it was a write off (1993 Taurus). Insurance offered only $1800 but she couldn't come close to replacing it for that... we fought with them for a month and got another $800. In the meantime, I qualify for a rental vehicle... max $40/day up to a max of $800.

Thanks for that info Buddy... I'll certainly be looking into that option. I didn't realize it was an "adjustable" thing... heck, I drive down the street on my son's Sportster and set alarms off all over the place LOL

Although I am upset about this, I'm a firm believer of "things happen for reasons" and I always look to the positive. As for something less costly, we sold our Aveo (a gas mizer) and bought this truck because of 2 reasons... a) no more car payments (we paid cash for the truck from the proceeds of the sale of the Aveo) and b) a truck is much more useful to us than the Aveo was. We rarely drive any distances other than with the scoot so the added fuel costs are minimal and well worth the usefulness of a truck. I have lived in this area (Vancouver) for 7 years now. This is the second time since coming here that I've had my vehicle stolen. My last vehicle (ironically, the same kind of truck and the same color) got broken into a month after I moved here and stolen less than a year after. It was recovered with minimal damage but then got broken into again about a year after that. Both times it was broken into were attempts to steal it. I will for sure be installing an immobilzer onto my next vehicle but I really can't stand those noisy alarms and don't believe they are much more of a deterrent than a club...if anything, they do not much more than annoy people coz the slightest thing can cause them to go off.

Not my scoot... my truck!.. some SOB stole it. Parked it on the street this morning near where we catch the skytrain to downtown for work (as we always do). Got back at the end of the day... hmmmmmmmm... where's the truck?.. call the wife... "where did we park?" I say... yep... that's where I thought it was too... but it ain't there! Call the cops, check with towing co... definately it's been stolen!!! Even had a steering wheel club on it. GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! The inconvenience of this and extra costs involved might end up costing us our holiday trip to Los Osos waaaaaa Have an appointment with the insurance co Thursday... depending on what they'll give us for it...worst case scenario might have to sell the scoot just to replace the truck. One rarely comes out of these ahead of the game...especially when dealing with this govn't insurance rip-off specialists.
