  1. Saw one making a left at an intersection about 3 weeks ago... 2 weekends ago I was at a bike shop that sells them...there were 2 outside that folks owned and one on display inside... now that I've had my "close-up" .... nope!... not for me brother!
  2. There probably will be no 2009 model so that they can purge any remaining 2008's from production well in advance, thus making a new, 2010 model more attractive and sellable at a higher price tag... (just a wild guess here)
  3. I saw the pics of those MONSTERS! .... looks like good candidates for paint-ball gun practise! :rotf:
  4. Found the following at a couple local shops...gonna check them out on the weekend if they haven't been sold. Anyone from around here check them out already? I know the prices might be a bit higher than comparable in the USA but.... http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Motorcycles_1001_1500cc/4810/68465903/2002_YAMAHA_VENTURE_60600kms_1300.aspx http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Motorcycles_1001_1500cc/4810/68578103/1999_YAMAHA_ROYAL_STAR_VENTURE_64260kms.aspx
  5. Tip: use a new drill bit .... tape both sides of the plastic .... drill at medium speed and no more pressure than the weight of the drill ... then, heat up the opposite end of the drill bit and slide it into the hole in a twisting motion (use the drill) and out again quickly (this will "sear" the plastic inside the hole and around it's edges and prevent any stress cracks or edge chipping) Another method is to get a rubber grommet with a centre hole the right size for the machine screws you'll use for attaching the bag. Drill holes in the w/s large enuf for a tight fit for the grommet using above Tip. Insert the grommet and attach the bag. Use slightly smaller washers than the size of the grommet and use self-locking nuts. Don't over tighten. -OR- find some of those metal washer/spacers similar to what you'd find holding the various plastic pieces onto the bike and insert those into the grommet. (I've not tried the grommet method ... just thought it might be a workable solution coz it seems to make sense to me)
  6. so, if 3 rights make a left, does 2 wrongs make a right?
  7. hmmmmmm... she seems like a pretty normal woman to me in that regard. (and they call us bulheaded???) I too love my wife but...... (you know...the bullheaded thing...) get well soon and learn to enjoy a bit of lazin around...it's good for ya now and then!
  8. Yepp... DITTO for me too... never realized it until I saw that DVD .... amazing difference and yes, each time I make tight turns, I consciously still have to think about it and not succumb to habit.
  9. yes, you're right.... for some this is a touchy subject. Ok... I'll shaddap.
  10. NO!
  11. here's one of the pics... appears to be from an entirely different scoot..???
  12. so, does the right brain control the left hand turn or is it the other way 'round? Might be a slight inner ear infection causing some sort of "off-balance" issue .... ?? I know I used to have a lot more difficulty making tight right hand turns... until I saw the "Ride Like a Pro" CD .... man what a difference that made! Now, I'm not saying that CD will cure your inner ear infection!!
  13. I used to live in Ontario .. Lake of the Woods area (Kenora) .... maybe that's where I got it from???
  14. I just had a great idea for making extra cash.... like those folks who used to travel the roads picking bottles and cans (not done so much anymore) for extra money.... I'm gonna hook up a utility trailer and follow the Harley riders routes.... chekking the ditches for parts... gonna open my own used parts store.... gonna call it "Good Vibrations" ...
  15. I sure hope they have a "drive in" ......
  16. this could be some kind of "mental phoenomena" .... like... years ago, whenever I was driving along a lake ... I'd get an almost overwhelming urge to just crank the wheel and drive into the lake.... It got so bad I'd have to consciously force myself not to. Very weird... that stopped sometime ago... not even sure when.
  17. I recall reading somewhere where someone said (jokingly) ... "if you follow a group of Harley riders long enough, you'll pick up enuf pieces to build your own". I went one further with this with my son (he rides an '03 Sportster) and said, "if I follow my son long enuf, I'll return home riding a Harley" (love givvin the kid a hard time). Yesterday, we're out for a ride and I'm following him and...... all of a sudden he's pulling over... I come up beside him and he's cussin big time... "what's wrong"... my MIRROR! he screams .... I look and it had vibrated so much that it just snapped off somewhere in the middle!! He's had more things come loose and fall off that bike... LOL
  18. Now here's a trike like you've never seen before... powered by a Fiero engine. These folks have travelled across Canada & back on this. Ran across them on a weekend ride last weekend.
  19. One of my talents is doing voice impersonations.... :rotf:
  20. The HotLine number actually is... 1-800-Call SomoneElse Of course it's me...who else could it be? And here I am, at work...the network administrator (aka System Administrator) here...and I get those same errors..."please contact your system administrator" ... so, I submit a trouble ticket to my own email addy... when it arrives I add it to my daily tasks with a reminder... and when the reminder(s) (there are several of this type) pop up, I just "snooze" them until such time as I figgure out what the h3|| to do about it.
  21. One thing I hate is those messages that say "please contact you system administrator" ... well DUHHHHH .... it's my home computer .... who do they figgure "my" system administrator is? ... DUHHH
  22. I believe those pics are of his scoot, etc not the one he stalked..

  24. In this day and age, loud pipes are not necessarilly associated to Harleys (as a few posts here seem to suggest or make that connection). In the last 2 weeks I have seen more "non Harleys" with some of the loudest pipes I've heard. Yamaha Royal Star's, Victory, Suzuki, Kaw and ever the odd Honda VTX. (just felt the need to clarify that) There's loud pipes ... and then there's LOUD pipes. I have a problem with those LOUD pipes and moreover, the riders who have them coz it generally is them that get their JOLLIES by rapping and blipping and making as much noise as they possibly can. Those 2 things together are nothing more than a nuisance IMHO. Having said that, how many of you here wear ear plugs? I've never worn them but I have noticed many riders of bikes with LOUD pipes do. Their reasoning is to protect the eardrums from the wind.... Well, I may not hear as good as I once did but I honestly doubt it's because of wind damage to my eardrums. ok, said my piece...
  25. :rotf: welcome to the CLUB!
