  1. I bought an AudioVox XMC10C on sale for $30. Comes with the kit and everything http://www.myradiostore.com/bundles/roady-xt-bundles/audiovox-xpress-xmck-10-xm.html http://shop.xmradio.ca/index.cfm?id=492&DSP=ProductDetail&ProductID=17 I like it
  2. I had mine done on my '85. Did a whole lotta lookin for somebody who could do it...got a tip from a local Suzuki dealer and he steered me to an autoglass shop that also did upholstery. I got the seat and backrest recovered for $250 and it was a real nice job done in 2 different colors (tan & black) Do some chekkin around...I'm sure you'll find a good shop there somewhere.
  3. looks great... curious to know how you managed to retain the stock striping? did you re-do it or mask it or what?
  4. Goose... just wondering what you "stole" the scoot for ($$$)? I am looking at a 2005 RSMV that has been dumped ... has quite a bit of damage to the fairing, bags, trunk, gas tank, etc but frame, engine, suspension appear good. I can do a lot of the fixing myself but kinda curious what a person should really pay for something like this? The guy is asking $4995.
  5. ha! ... you have that problem too huh? LOL why I wasn't born with a "green thumb" like a lotta folks I dunno.

    Good Video

one minute???.... h&%ll ... I been on that fer hours!!... still doesn't work! Worst part is...beein the "tekkie" I am, I've tried just about every trick in the book to figgure it out! :sign20:
  8. I run both here at work ... no problems at all Works fine on my system at home but I don't run OpenOffice at home...just Office 2003 on Vista Home Premium. (yes, I had to take it coz it came with my new PC which I had to buy in a panic so to speak but it seems to be working fine except I can't use my scanner no more )
  9. I generally do the same when passing those 18 wheelers (gun it) but sometimes, on a freeway or other 4-laner, you can get stuck beside them, depending on the traffic in front of you. Unfortunately, situations such as these are part of the risks we take riding a motorcycle. I've always wondered what would happen when riding behind or beside one of these "bad boys" when a tire recap blows off. It's one of those things I try not thinking about coz that thought scares the crap outta me. I certainly don't want to have the opportunity to relay THAT experience! On the other hand, just being able to relay it to us, like you did, is a good thing coz you got through it safely.
  10. Yes, you are speaking for the "minority". Most folks and especially businesses are reluctant to upgrade and the reason is very simple....incompatibility with existing hardware and/or software, not to mention the productivity drop by users having to re-learn how to do things. A very small example... I have an HP ScanJet (sorry, forgot the model). Vista doesn't recognize it, Microsoft doesn't supply drivers for it and HP will not (and they've stated this) develop Vista drivers for it so, effectively, my perfectly good scanner that works just fine in Windows XP is nothing but a paperweight in Vista.
  11. They probably ride Harleys. There is no separate "primary" on a Venture. When you change the crankcase oil, you are changing all there is as it also lubes the clutch & tranny.
  12. ummmmm well ....errr ... ummmmm nope... not gonna comment on this! :D :rotf:
  13. Because of what Microsoft has done, my employer had decided to move all our systems to OpenOffice. We find some situations where we require Office but for those, it is segregated to specific users (such as myself) and I can tell ya, I ain't upgrading beyond 2003 version. In fact, we implemented that decision 2 years ago when I started this job. For the most part, it's working out just fine.
  14. The more she rides, the more adapted her butt will become (or maybe it's her mind)...eventually she won't realize it's numb (her butt) and think all is well!
  15. Just a bit of FYI... if you're familiar with MS Office pre-2003, stay away from newer versions... good old Microsoft figgured it was time to mess everybody up so they totally changed the program. I've been using (and teaching and supporting) Microsoft Word since it was a DOS program way back in the late 80's and every version change up to and including 2003 has been relatively easy to adapt to. The current versions are so different you pretty much have to learn everything over from scratch...even their file types are totally different...so much so that Microsoft has made available a convertor so that you can convert the documents backwards to older version. When you have a captive audience....ya can do whatever you want. Talk about world power eh?
  16. get it NOW!! you'll not regret it! LOL
  17. Cool ! .... adjust the seat properly and your legs won't hurt (so much).
  18. The ad says..."Virtually indestructible, this trim will not fade, crack or lose its dark rich luster. " and then they advertise a product to "Protect your Investment" that says..."custom formulated to protect both shield and edging". hmmmmmmmm... makes one wonder!
  19. Conversely, I'm not SKINNEY ... I'm small boned. (and if anyone calls me skinney I'll.... I'll...)
  20. I agree... I am in the "minority" when it comes to size (unless of course I'm compared to guys in Asia!). Insofar as riding a 2nd gen, I have test drove them and frankly, I found them easier to handle than both of my 1st gens. You're comparing apples to oranges. Now look at the Harley Ultra which is more in line with the Venture....how many "little people" do you see riding those? But I doubt Harley built that bike with BIG Americans in mind...similarly, I doubt Honda designed the GW with that idea in mind also. Circumstance. They are big bikes...small people simply have difficulty handling them and they have to be big bikes in order to handle the "two-up touring" that they are designed for. Hey, I'm not argueing...just voicing my 2cents and enjoying our "banter".
  21. Are you saying Yamaha's "target customers" are BIG People? Seriously... I doubt anyone in Yamaha's design team thought of that. Can you imagine... "hey everyone...let's make a touring bike for BIG people!"... yeahhhhhh and they went out and did it. It's a matter of circumstance and nothing more. The fact simply is there are fewer slim & trim guys like me around. Not to mention ones who can manhandle these scoots as good as any "big" guy. :rasberry:
  22. I agree I wouldn't even consider adding a CD changer nowadays... even that technology is out of date Nowadays it's XMradio, Ipods, etc, etc... who wants a CD player anymore?? I have a brand new AM/FM/CD unit that was given to me for my truck and I can't be bothered putting it in coz I enjoy my XMradio too much and packing around a whack of CD's is a PITA.
  23. uh-oh ... I see trouble brewin here... LOL
  24. Color change is about all I could see.... looks like I won't be getting an older RSV next year either.... since they haven't made any changes for 2009, nobody's gonna be trading off their 99-08 models which makes the availability not so good and the prices will remain stable for another year "waaaaaaaaaaa"
  25. and you work on computers???? :rotf: :witch_brew:
