http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_lighting Note: the definition of "passing lamps". Therefore, if the additional lights we put on our scoot are called "passing lamps", then they are supposed to be of low intensity and used during low beam situations. Are these lights we buy of "low intensity"? ... if so, that's not what I want. I want lights that shine up the road for a long distance...much farther and wider than standard headlight. Under "Auxilliary lights", there is nothing referred to as "passing lamps". Auxilliary lighting is used for a number of different things but not as additional low beam, low intensity purposes.

 ... I don't "get it". First of all, "passing lamps" produce additional illumination...am I wrong? If the "passing lamps" are on when the low beams are on, wouldn't that additional illumination cause more "mirror blindness" to the driver ahead of you that you're gonna "pass"??? "Passing lamps" are really another name for "driving lights" .... am I wrong? Wouldn't a person want additional "driving lights" for additional illumination when there's no vehicles ahead of you ... ie, when you have your high beams on? One of the biggest problems I have is night driving. I find it very eye-straining and hard to see and it's even worse when it's raining or foggy. I've always installed "driving lights" on my vehicles so that I can see better. Passing Lamps...Driving Lights .... seems all the same to me .... should be on when high beam is on if nothing else IMHO.

I'd be a little "leery" about that lift. The one brian is checking out is different...it's the kind you ride onto and the bike sits on it's tires. Having said that tho, this particular lift sure makes for easy access to everything including the wheels. It appears that all the weight/stress would be on the joint where the verticle bar attaches to the legs. Doesn't look to "beefed up" to me .... think I'd be worried about it failing at that joint.

hey Brian... what did you find out?

Most "driving lamps" aka "passing lamps" I've ever installed state in the instructions that they are to be wired to the High Beams so that they only come on when the high beams are on.

Interesting time-lapse vid of Vancouver's Coal Harbour area looking towards North Vancouver and showing the Pan Pacific Convention Centre. Bottom right shows a boat continuously coming and going from the same dock. That's the "water taxi". It's a passenger ferry (part of the transit system) that takes people from downtown Vancouver to North Vancouver.

Ah yes... I have compiled a MASSIVE Christmas wish list for Santa. Of course, EVERYTHING in that list is classified as "Necessary Safety Items". :D :D Yes, I remember your bikes sound...it was good and I also liked the looks of the 4 pipes. Didn't know it was the Baron pipes tho. Now, I wonder if it will be this Christmas or one a few years from now when Santa delivers my safety equipment??? :scratchchin:

http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002009&id=285 Wife & I both listened and figgured the Vance & Hines sounded the nicest, followed by the Khromewerks. Anyone here got the Vance & Hines installed and could you provide some info re: what's needed to install these.

I followed instructions here... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29248&highlight=brake+light Except, I used 2 "coupling nuts" (what I call them) appx 1" long. I used 2 ... #10 x 2" x 24 thread countersunk SS machine screws, ran them through the existing hole in the light, thru the coupling nut and tightened that down with another, small nut. (the coupling nut is a tich larger thread hole so the machine screw slides thru it). I then slid the remaining part of the machine screws thru the holes in the existing brackets, put a flat washer on and then a self-locking nut. I wired it all into behind the lic plate.

since we're on this topic, I notice when I increase or decrease the volume, what appears to be a digital word " VOL " appears but it's not all there....just parts of it... is it supposed to say " VOL " ? and if so and it doesn't, any ideas what might need to be done to fix it (aside from having it replaced)?
