What some aftermarket rims?
SilvrT replied to flb_78's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
What's interesting is that the calipers are there... hmmmmm mebbe some new teknology... AIR BRAKES!! -
WOW!!!! nice job!! ... looks really great...really stands out! I like the color scheme...yellow is not a color that suits everything...some things look great in yellow, others don't... looks really good the way you did it with the black!

Mine has that annoying whine/chirp too. I notice it most at lower rpm's when I'm driving around the city but once out on the open road, I don't notice it at all. I'll eventually change out my mufflers but for me, those pipes you got are a bit too loud...think I'll be going with the Kromewerks (sp?). Seeing as my mileage is still pretty low (2800 km's), I think I'll hold off until maybe next fall before I decide if I will go to the dealer and get the I-basket ... maybe by then, the whine will have subsided -OR- I will be deaf! LOL

Surprising you can still type legitimately at that temp!! I hear it's gonna warm up during the week for you tho... to MINUS 10 !!

I agree; however, at times I felt he seemed a bit "larger than life" ...but that's not necessarilly a bad thing. I feel he has some "issues" going on tho (don't we all to some degree?). Regardless, I always enjoyed his postings and he's one guy I'd like to meet in person.

I stumbled onto that site a few days ago and found that kit had deleted most, if not all, his previous posts where he had been talking about the RSV he had. What's the link to that site again?

Tying into battery - How?
SilvrT replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It sure does...and thanks a bunch... from this thread and your info I've just finished installing my Auxilliary Fuse box. It was a "piece of cake"! BTW, I used 10 gauge wire from the battery to the fuse box. (damn those short screws they put into the battery terminals eh) (good thing I've had LOTS of experience with those and have a specially made (by me) hooked screwdriver to hold the nut up) -

In the above diagram, do you connect the "to switched power" to a live positive that is only live when you turn the ignition on?... or?? And that way, the accessory connected only has power when the ignition is turned on? -
heh... in a world of mechanical and electrical devices, NOTHING is ever PERMANENT ! But, if this stuff continues to hold, it's saving me a bundle in the interim. Just means more CHROME for the new scoot yeeeaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to post this followup in case anyone else out there is considering using this product. It's been almost 10 month's since I put in the Thermagasket and still no leaks. I ran it for a couple month's before I flushed it and installed regular antifreeze. We don't put a lot of miles on this truck but we drove it to Calgary and back when we hauled our new '06 RSMV home ... no cooling issues at all but I do notice that the 180 thermostat is a bit low for decent heat during the winter.

Mine (1996 Dakota with a V8) has 296000 kms (that's 184,000 miles) ... I have no idea if the tranny has been redone or replaced. The PO had the fluid changed just before I bought it (almost a year ago) by one of those machines that suc the old out and put the new in (no pan dropping or filter changing)...not a good idea! The guy who fixed it for me said it didn't look like the pan had been off for a very long time. The tranny went out on my last truck (a '94 Dakota) and it cost me 3 grand! It had about 230,000 km's at that time. I sure hope this one hold out!

....and never trust the first estimate you get on your tranny problems. My truck all of a sudden would only start out in top gear. I could manually shift it, starting in 1st..then to 2nd, etc but put it in drive and that's where it would start off...3rd gear. Took it to a shop...(big, national company) they told me I needed a new computer to the tune of almost $900 plus labor to install and they charged me $100 to diagnose using some fancy-dancy diagnostic equipment. yeahsureright...I wasn't born yesterday! Took it to another (smaller) shop. Guy didn't need any fancy diagnostic equipment...he said "I know exactly what's wrong"...explained it to me..gave me a ballpark estimate of around $400 and I let him fix it. Turned out to be internal...the governor solenoid and the transducer..both which affect what gear the tranny starts out in. Works like a charm now! Total cost including tranny fluid, new filter, gasket, etc...$451.00 ooops ... didn't mean to hijack!

Thanks a bunch! That's very good! -
heh... well, you're so close to the source, you could almost pump it out of the ground!

last Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the temps have been hovering around 10 celcius for the daytime highs. Couple of those days we had some sunshine but mostly it's been cloudy...very little rain. I was out riding most of the afternoon last Sunday and I played hooky from work Tuesday to go riding (shhhhhh don't tell my boss!). Starting Thursday, the temps have been dropping a bit and today thru the weekend it's gonna be raining with highs around 5 celcius. I think I've taken my last ride for this season so, insurance is coming off the scoot today (saves me $150 a month!) Speaking about gas prices... I gassed up the truck Thursday and the pump price for regular was 84.6 cents a litre ... that's about $3.20 a US gallon ... woooooooooo cheap cheap cheap.. haven't seen prices that low for a dog's age!
