  1. I'd be happy to wax it for you ... IF you'll let me use it for a week or two....
  2. Whitewalls look good on a black bike. Cleaning whitewalls is easy ... just spray them with Fantastic, let it sit a couple minutes (no more) and hose off with a full pressure nossle . Do this on a regular basis and you'll never have to get down on your knees and scrub 'em!
  3. SAWWWEEETTT !!!! Having had an '06 Midnight, I'm just a little envious coz I really loved the looks and comfort of that bike and so did Nina .... it's unfortunate I couldn't deal with the low speed handling and the clutch basket whine. Had it not been for those two things, we'd probably still have it. Congrats!
  4. OMG!!
  5. This is indeed terrible news ... so glad he and family are ok. I know what it's like to loose everything in a fire as it happened to me albeit I was only 8 at the time so I didn't fully "get" the seriousness of it but I do recall a lot about that. What can we do to help?
  6. In response to @cowpuc 's post, I used to do things like that... until one day I saw a really nice hubcap (back when hubcaps were cool) laying on the side of the road. I stopped, walked back to where it was and bent down to grab it ... and all of a sudden it took off! What the..&*!!#@..??? That's when I saw 2 kids hiding behind some bushes laffing their heads off. They'd tied a fishing line to the hubcap and.... ... little buggers .... then I cracked up too as it sure was a sneaky trick.
  7. Just come to Vancouver, you'll see it everywhere ... homeless people with huge bags of bottles and cans, mostly found in garbage cans and dumpsters, etc ... as for outside of the city, it's pretty rare coz hardly anyone tosses their empties out the window as they're driving along. Folks are getting "litter conscious". There was a time in my life when I was down and out and I did my share of picking bottles along the highway.
  8. back in the day, when I didn't know nuffin, I tossed my cig butt out the window .... after a while I smelled something burning coming from the back seat ... apparently the wind blew the butt back in the open rear door window where it landed on the back seat and burned a big hole. Karma's a b*tch! LOL
  9. DANG!!! sitting here at my office desk ... almost got up and started doing the jive (as if I know how!) ... then at the end, had to contain myself from clapping LOL
  10. I still enjoy the memory of that.....
  11. There's numerous discussions about the chirping belt over on the Vic forum. I just posted .... 33,000 km's and 1 rear tire change and I've never adjusted the belt nor have I had any chirping. Seems some have all kinds of belt chirping/adjustment issues while most others don't.
  12. Could it be the dampening pins are dry in the differential??? What about the splines ??
  13. heck, I look good on my Vic without a Harley vest! matter of fact, I just look good .. period! hahaha
  14. Picked it up a couple weeks ago actually. It's all BLACK. Has some small black embroidery on it with the words "Harley Davidson". But you'd 'hardly' know it is a Harley Davidson vest .....
  15. yup! I'm the muscle, she's the motivator ....
  16. Honda Moly 60 (if I recall correctly) is a good grease for the splines. While apart, not a bad idea to pull the dampening pins, buff them up, apply some moly60 and reassemble.
  17. Nope LOL .. we've decided that that is not the style of bike we want ... (we meaning the wife haha)
  18. Should have been out riding but..... . . Instead I spent the whole day re-doing the landscaping on the front yard. Before: (those white planters are concrete ... they are now in pieces in the back of my truck LOL) After:
  19. You could always use it as a raincoat
  20. Speaking of heat, I think that when it's so hot outside (100+), one tends not to notice so much the heat from the engine because you're already so danged hot and the air around you is so hot ya can't tell if it's from the engine or otherwise and since you're so danged hot it makes no difference anymore ... it's just plain HOT! I remember last summer down in Yreka, CA the temps were pushing 110 .... I barely noticed engine heat. Around these parts when the temps rarely get over 80 ... I can feel the engine heat in stop/go traffic albeit not enough to be bothersome.
  21. We also test rode the Voyager when it came out in 2009 and found much the same as you. Nina also commented that she felt crowded ... lack of space for movement.
  22. The issue about the seating for the wife could be a problem for sure. Had ABS on our Wing as well as on the Vic now and I've had a couple instances where it saved my bacon ... once was on the wing pulling our Leesur-Lite tent trailer doing about 60mph We're at the stage in our life (more so me than Nina) where riding seems to be taking it's toll on the old body, eyes, mind, etc. Riding all day is getting to be too much and riding every weekend when the weather is nice is taking away from other activities we want to do. So, we're going to sell the Vic after the Kruis'n the Kootenays rally beginning of July. The Roadie is already for sale although if it doesn't sell by then, maybe we'll just keep it. Need something for occasional short day rides. Selling the Vic will allow us to pay off our mortgage earlier than planned and this ties in with Nina wanting to retire sooner than originally planned. I've never ridden a bike like the ST1300 but have wanted to for a few years. Not even sure at this stage if I will like it. That said, I do plan to get some test rides in before I pull any pins. If we do decide to purchase such a bike as that, I'll definitely be shopping around for the best deal. Maybe the exchange rate will be much better and I can get something south of the border at a much better price ... HA! Good luck with that idea! LOL
  23. ummmmmm... are those for the FRONT? And you mentioned REAR?
