My first Warranty Work
SilvrT replied to 1sttenor's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This might be a little more difficult with a 2nd gen but years ago, when I had my '85 and left it sit for a couple months or so over the winter, I had a helluva time getting it going. One trick I used was to put some gas into a spray bottle, remove the air cleaner cover, and spray gas directly into the carbs while I was cranking it. After doing this a few times, she ran fine. I also used this method to get my son's Sportster running after it had sat for a couple years. -
if you remove the little spring and turn the gutted tape deck housing upside down before you re-install it, then the little door will close by it's own weight LOL

We're getting basically the same here and considering we got close to a foot of snow 2 days ago ontop of the rest of the snow we already had, we are in for some serious problems associated to the rainfall amounts and the mild temps. As an example, anyone who has a building with a flat top roof is being warned to clear the drains and/or remove the snow from the roof. There's already been a complete rec centre c/w swimming pool demolished by the weight of the wet snow and at least one apartment building has been evacuated due to structural damage caused by same conditions. Our whole local news broadcast is consumed by the weather and it effects...I can only imagine what will be on the news tonight as it's been raining heavilly all day so far.

1st Gen. Thermostat

that's weird... unless it's a discontinued item but it was definately a 156 that I used... don't know the temp setting tho.- 21 replies

On each side of the deck there are small "pressure latches" (for lack of a better name) where the hinges push against and catch. It's possible these have become inoperable due to dust or dirt buildup. You could try removing the deck and cleaning/lubricating those little latches.

Looks great. I was planning to do that with mine too. I did that on my '87 and I made a "false bottom" that was easy to lift out. I also made a small divider that goes from the front to the back, held in place with velcro, leaving about a 4 or 5 inch wide "pocket" for those smaller things, keeping them separated from anything else. Sorry, no pics.

It's all back together but pics are available here... Air box mod http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30350 Cassette deck removal http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002003&id=386 Splitting the fairing http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3905 The above post is for installing an Aux line splitter; however, once you remove the cassette, the aux jack is no longer used so you can just connect an extension to it (as mentioned in the post). For the cassette deck removal, I also shaved about 1/4 inch off the lip on the dash area where the 2 screws go in, leaving just enuf plastic for the screws, so that the opening was a little bigger. NOTE: don't shave more than this otherwise you'll see the opening below the cassette door when it's closed. Here's a pic... and also one of the unused jack that went to the cassette.

Yep... that's exactly what it is and no matter how thorough the explanation, a woman still wouldn't "get it". Having said that, there's a whole lot more about women that us guys just don't "get" and never will.... :witch_brew: Ain't life grand?

My step-daughter and her b/f just drove over the coquihalla and apparently it wasn't too bad. But, I'd have to agree... stay west of the mountains as far as possible...maybe even take the coast hwy.

Now that was a "motion" I have some familiarity with..... :D

From various posts on this site I have just completed the "air cleaner mod" and the "cassette deck to storage compartment" mod. What a piece of cake it was! Thanks a bunch! And what better way to spend a snowy Saturday afternoon...it's been snowing since sometime last night and it's still snowing!! gawwwddd are we ever gonna see the end of this? Well, according to the weather forecasters, we should be getting rain, rain, and more rain over the coming days...won't that be nice...NOT! .. What a mess we'll have but at least I don't have to shovel RAIN!

I thought that was a "given"! Take the Hope/Princeton and then go south from Osoyoos thru Spokane, over to Bute Montana and then straight down. Only the one (serious) pass to deal with.

If you can get this trike licensed, you can get anything licensed!! LOL pic was taken in Keremeous, BC ... couple that owned it lived not far away... they built it themselves and have travelled across Canada and back on it.

I found it surprising that a kid of that age actually knew about an 8-track! How many years ago has it been since those became obsolete? .... 35? Cassette's have pretty much been obsolete for what?... 5 years? ...more? Well, ok, so some still use them and I'll admit, I still have a bunch but I haven't used a cassette for at least 5 years. Frankly, my '87 and my '06 scoots and my '96 Dakota are the only things I have that has a cassette player in them. Ain't got such an animal in my house.
