Anybody else having a problem with clicking...

You may also have issues with your computer...such as, overloaded temp files or fragmentation of your hard drive or a cluttered registry. Could be any of a number of things. Download a program called Ccleaner (it's free) and run it to clean a lot of this stuff up. Pay attention to what it's going to clean...you may want some things like cookies not removed. Also, do a defragmentation on your drive. -
I haven't read all the posts and I doubt I can give you an answer but I can at least share my experience in this area and offer one suggestion. My suggestion is...don't try and force things to happen... let them happen in their own time...let your son heal and grow and learn and he will come around in due course and all will be good. If you try and force this process, it may alienate and aggravate the situation further. This may take quite a long time but with patience, good will come out of it. My first wife and I split (she left me...took the kid, took the furniture, took everything..and ran off with another guy) when my son was 1.5 yrs old. I never tried to interfere or force myself into my son's world for almost 32 years. He grew up knowing another man as his "dad" but from the time he was pre-teen, he knew that guy wasn't his real father. He's now 39. I contacted his mom about 6 years ago and thru that, my son and I reunited. For a long time he had been wanting to find me, and me him. It was like a broken piece of our lives had finally been mended. We have been very close ever since and we spend time with each other at least every week...almost like "best friends". The timing was perfect for this reunion...it happened when it was meant to. Both of us feel that things would not have been as they are now if I had tried years earlier or if he had. Our lives have been greatly enhanced and for me, fulfilled with all that I was missing all those years. I don't regret any of it...it happened the way it was meant to happen.

It amazes me the numbers of people who willingly choose to move into a residential area that is close to an airport and then start complaining about the noise. What are they thinking? What were they thinking? Who do they think they are? If the noise is bothering them, they should move elsewhere IMHO.

Installing Road King mufflers
SilvrT replied to phochief's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Got the RK's on ... Vtwin clamps are on order ... made my own brackets.... sound is great! -
Not this "city dweller" .... I've lived in the country many times and prefer it but there's no work for this redneck in those places. I live here coz this is where the jobs are and where the money can be made...at least in my line of work. Once I retire...man, I'm outta here!

I refuse to drive to work...on the scoot or in my truck...I take public transit...why? The cost would be at least triple to take a vehicle. Gas, insurance, wear & tear, stress & frustration because of the rush hour traffic and the idiots on the road, etc, etc and then there is the cost of parking!!! ...IF you can get a monthly parking spot... it's just not worth it. Wife & I shell out $200 a month ($100 each) and let the transit take us to work... 1/2 hr of stress-free riding (it takes about the same time to drive).

U-haul trailer I rented was an open trailer with a ramp... I believe it's referred to as a 5 x 10 ... worked great for me @ $25/day. I had no problems loading / unloading the scoot and it's got tie hooks in each corner at floor level. Best way I found to tie the front was running the tie-down thru just above the bottom triple tree. If you use a good nylon tie-down, be careful of any sharp edges that might fray it ... I had to put a thick cloth between mine.

I'm not commenting 'coz this subject is too depressing and frustrating.

Wish I could afford that luxury ... then I might see the "real world" need. In all the years I've been riding, I have never put more than about 10-15 thousand miles on in any one year. Not once have I ever even thought about "what the upcoming weather is going to be ...and wished I had some gadget that could tell me" .... When I head out for a trip, I take what comes. The worst I've encountered is hail and temps as low as 5 celcius with rain ... I could see the hail storm coming so ducked into shelter till it passed... the low temps/rain ... stop and warm up...then off we go. As for maps and such, I rarely go into areas where I find it difficult to figgure out my route...stop at a gas station ahead of time and ask directions if need be. I've been to most major centers in Canada and a few in the USA ... San Francisco, Houston, Chicago to name a few of the larger ones... yep, a GPS would have been nice in those 3 places but not necessary. The use of the product doesn't justify the cost for me. Having said all that, if my retirement plans work out, 25,000 miles a year will be "normal" and I'll probably be wanting a few luxuries such as iPhone & GPS ... or whatever the technology is at that time (coz in 3-5 yrs from now it will be entirely different LOL) As I said tho... to each their own and I'm certainly not knocking anyone's choices.

I must be getting old or something. I've been in the technology field since 1987 professionally and frankly, when I leave my job I don't even want to see anything that even resembles a computer. A cell phone that does a good job at making phone calls, is easy to read, and has an easy to use keypad is all I want. All that other stuff is nothing but unnecessary clutter IMHO (for me). To each his own tho and I have looked at the iPhone and yes, they sure have a lot of gadgets and gizmo's and I had no problem figguring out how it works right from the get-go but those things are for not for me...and I sure don't need an additional monthly expense for yet another "toy". I guess I just don't see a "real world" use for it other than using it as a phone.

bringing this back to the forefront as nobody has responded to my Q.

I've read a number of posts about drilling out the RK mufflers but am still not clear on this... do you drill out both ends or just the "aft" end? anyone? ps... I just got a set myself and have the same small hole in only one muffler...you can see it from the outlet end.

Only problem with disconnecting the battery that I can see is you'd have to reset the clock and saved radio stations. I like the battery tender idea...gonna have to get me one for next winter I recon...eh!

Those bikes they have on the "Harley Demo Days" are not necessarilly in "primo" condition. First one I tried had absolutely no air in the rear shock and you could really hear and feel it "bang" going over bumps...second one was fine. I also noticed that some seem to vibrate more than others (same bike style). Apparently they can "tune" them to a point of minimal vibration.

Hard Starting after sitting
SilvrT replied to rez's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I also used this method to get my son's Sportster running after it had been sitting for 3 yrs. Brand new battery....it just wouldn't fire up...removed the filter, squirted gas in and voila` ... but it would die as soon as that gas was used so had to keep squirting gas to keep her running. Noticed that the slider in the carb was stuck from sitting so long so had to take the carb apart and give it a good cleaning. ps...squirt the gas while you're cranking it and watch out for backfire out the carb (don't ask me how I know this) LOL- 13 replies

Wife & I test rode an '09 Ultra a couple times. We both liked it. Only time it vibrated noticeably was at idle. Was very smooth at highway speed... very nimble at low speed. Very little wind. I would have bought one if I had the bucks. I like the '06 RSMV that I did buy but the Ultra still turns my crank.

Would anyone be interested in Renting their second gen? (IA, WI, IL Area)
SilvrT replied to GG54172's topic in Watering Hole
Around here, insurance generally covers anyone who has been driving for 10 yrs or more as an additional driver. So, if I wanted to, I could "lend" a person my scoot and if they wanted to pass a few bucks my way (under the table of course)... who'd be the wiser? (just throwing this out there)
