  1. hmmmmmmm... very cool... looks better than the real thing!
  2. or, if you're lucky enuf to get one like I did (an '06) with only 1300 KILOMETERS on it, you basically have a brand new bike. The PO bought it in '07 and then had no time to ride it ... essentially, it had only been "in service" for a bit over a year by the time I got it last Nov.
  3. It's an "insurance for a day" permit that a person gets when a vehicle has no basic insurance coverage (ie 3rd party liability) and the "tags" have expired. I only insure my scoot for 6 month's out of the year so at times like this, when it's "hit and miss", I will go and get a permit for $25. It's way cheaper than insuring for the whole year. yup... that too!!

  5. Yep...that old PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) got BLASTED out of me today! Temps rose to a "balmy" 7 degrees celcius with clear, sunny skies...I couldn't hold off any longer...went and got a day permit for the scoot and out we went. Rode about 250 miles round trip over 4.5 hrs with stops here and there. We were well bundled up but still got a bit chilled at times but it was all worth it. And...this was the first time out with my (new to me) Road King mufflers...AH MAN do those things sound sweet! .... AND .... waddya know... I barely noticed the dreaded WHINE ... yeeeee haaaaawwwww! :thumbsup2:
  6. Not meaning to take any business away from the person who's making those adapters coz I'm sure they are of much higher quality but, I made my own out of 1/8" x 2" flat aluminum. Wasn't all that difficult to do and I'm sure other's have done the same. Not 100% sure that the aluminum will hold up over time tho... probably better if they're made out of steel.
  7. Switches sure can go unseen even when you look right at them. Years ago I rented a house that had a gas fireplace. I went almost the whole winter without using it coz I couldn't get the darned thing to work...and then one day when I was dusting around the area (yes, I do that lol) ... I discovered this small rocker switch on the edge of the frame...it was black and so was the frame. It was the power switch.
  8. I put the RK mufflers on mine and sold the stock ones... made enuf on the deal to (almost) pay for my trunk rack.
  9. true enuf .... and for some, all the tools in the world won't do them no good nohow in any situation (certainly not applicable to this bunch)

  11. It's just plain good practise to carry a small set of tools...I've never gone out riding without any tools..thankfully I rarely have needed them. They're just a little bit of "visible" insurance LOL
  12. it could be that the lights are wired directly to the high or low beam circuit... congrats on acquiring the scoot... now where are those PIC???
  13. Remember the rules.... PICTURES !!! (when you get it all installed and the lights glowin)
  14. Great info guys...thanks a bunch!
  15. I used to hang out there on a regular basis when I was single... never saw a time when the music wasn't good although sometimes it's better than others. Saw Jim Byrnes there once..that was awesome! 'nuther group I once knew quite well called Dog Skin Suit ( http://www.dogskinsuit.com/ ) out of Kelowna played there and I hung out with them for the evening...I spent a lot of time with them when I lived in Kamloops and went to their gigs there and in Kelowna. Kinda lost track of them over the last couple years. BTW... Happy B/Day!!!
  16. Nina & I have booked a room at a downtown hotel. It's close to the Yale blues nightclub ( http://theyale.ca/ ) where we plan to party hardy till the wee hours of the morning (well that might be a bit of an exaggeration LOL ). This night out was an xmas gift from Nina to me so we've been excited about this weekend arriving for quite a while. I have a feeling I'll be "paying" come Sunday (and Monday and maybe even Tuesday LOL but it will be worth it).
  17. Not a bad idea ... also, while cruisin thru the 2nd gen accessories, I notice that ads go back as far as Oct 2006....?? one would think a time limit for an ad to appear should be in order coz by now, the person probably has sold it...unless it's a special item like the lift adapter that is "manufactured".
  18. heh... you're so right...especially for us coz we are a contractor to the govn't. we run a call centre for them LOL
  19. My LED lightbar cost $5.50 to ship from Signal dynamics ... go figgure eh!
  20. Good idea .... where in Blaine should they ship it to? (dumb question I know) but I have no clue and I'm not even blond! LOL
  21. Now Lutz... don't even get me started about the "IBM" guys .... LOL I could rant a few pages.....
  22. I'm pretty sure it was USPS. I got my LED bar for the back from somewhere out of the US and there were no taxes added. The amount I mentioned was the total charge against my CC so I'm not expecting any further fees. I haven't ordered a lot of stuff out of the US but what I have, I don't recall any taxes added...if there were, it was minimal. As mentioned above, the shipping cost was $45 and that's stated right on their "check-out" screen. I did hesitate a bit over that but I knew that all-in-all, it would still be cheaper than buying local. Now, I know there's folks who'd pounce on me for not supporting local merchants and all that but dang! ... if the pricing was more reasonable in comparison, why would a person want to go outside the local area in the first place? Hey... it's a "free-trade" continent LOL
  23. By ordering online from Star Yamaha, I saved a total of $48.85. Their price was $139 plus coin plus $45 shipping and then there's the exchange rate...brought it to a total of $226.36 To buy it locally, it's $272.21 taxes included. Frankly, the base price difference that we have to pay up here for such things is nothing short of a RIP-OFF ... IMHO. If I was down in Seattle, I could have picked it up and saved over $100. (less the exchange rate of course ) plus the taxes.
  24. That's a very good point and didn't even occur to me. We don't have this happen very often and the only one's who do are either from the Provincial Government or from IBM .... not that that says anything LOL!
  25. Symantec was here when I started this position so I just kept going with it mostly because I could get the virus defs free and we'd long since stopped paying any annual maintenance fees. I've had lots of bad experiences with Symantec both on personal PC installs as well as in corporate environments. I'm not going there again. I should mention that whatever I do install will be a "secondary - this side of the firewall" AV protection. Our firewall has pretty good protection that we do subscribe to annually so I might be able to get away with something like Avast on the workstations but it will also have to be able to be centrally managed from a server and protect our servers as well and the updates must come to that one server. The majority of our workstations do not have internet access.
