  1. Looks somewhat similar to this place ---> http://www.glacierhouse.com/ I know the folks who own this resort..I did a lot of computer work for them years ago and was onsite during the building of the place. I'll see if I can get a deal for us there as they are very "motorcycle-friendly" seeing as they used to run a motorcycle tour and rental operation and the guy used to be heavilly involved in off-road and dirt bike racing in europe years ago.
  2. Awesome...thanks Don ... that's the one I "stumbled across". I usually save the URL as a favorite but guess I missed that one.

  5. I've read every post in this thread but don't see anything regarding where and how, on the engine, you connect the 3 gauges. I recall stumbling across something one day but be danged ifn I can find it. Can someone point me? Thanks

  7. I wonder if Bing Crosby was ever told his whistling sounded like a marmot ! :sign20:
  8. seriously ... I doubt very much you'll have problems with Bears if you camp in Banff. Bears scare me too but I'd not hesitate to camp there ... I'd be more concerned about waking up to freezing temps and snow ... yes, even in summer LOL
  9. All Banff area hotels/motels are booked solid thru 2012 ... for alternate accommodations, see the listings for campgrounds.
  10. yes, I saw that writeup also ... in fact, they've recently posted signs around Banff for campers and hikers to be on the lookout for these particular bear droppings. When found, the signs say, one must immediately throw away the pepper spray, the jingle bells, and douse themselves with perfume.... then, when a bear is encountered, walk right up to it and say "hello"... :rotf:
  11. Around Banff you're more likely to encounter a bear if you're out hiking or camping somewhere away from designated camping areas. That is not to say a bear won't show up in the campgrounds tho so, take common sense precautions (I know, for some that doesn't apply coz they know nothing about bears) ... As mentioned, DO NOT keep food inside your tent. DO NOT eat close to your tent and leave food items of any sort anywhere near your tent. Take a rope and a "gunny sack" or some strong bag, put your food items in it, tie it to the rope and hang it from a tree...way up high and away from the tent. Have a can of pepper spray (bear repellant) on hand. If you go hiking, take a loud whistle and carry some "jingle bells" ... hook them to your wrist or leg and be very watchful and don't forget the bear repellant. Oh yea... don't wear deodorant, perfume, etc when in bear country...in fact, the stinkier (human smells) you are, the better LOL Depending on the time of year, you're more likely to encounter Elk ... stay away from those beasts!
  12. Crap!!! these 2nd gen's have carbs on them??????
  13. Don't know if this has been raised before but... I'm wondering how the insurance companies would view the situation if someone had an accident and it was in some way associated to the car tire. Seems to me they'd disallow a claim due to improper tires....?? Just curious.
  14. Here's mine ... color is Metallic Black ... got the code from a 77 dodge of all places! Paint code is PX8

  18. Nice car ... but ... I have a "thing" about spoilers on cars ... to me they look absolutely ridiculous and serve no purpose whatsoever on a "daily driver" (IMHO). sorry ... but I do like the car Now, if they'd had spoilers back in the day of the '59 chevvy... LOL (those in the know would remember the rear ends of those cars lifting off at high speed)
  19. My wife's mom is 86. We've told her several times that one of these days, I will take her for a ride. She lives many miles from us and the only times we've gotten to see her is at Christmas ... of course, the weather isn't appropriate. She keeps saying that one of these days either she'll come here in the summer or we'll get out there and then she'll go for a ride. I only hope that opportunity comes along before it's too late.
