MurrayD ... a new member here has just taken delivery of my '87. I was sad to see her go but Murray seems like a great guy and I'm sure he'll look after her and appreciate her and get as much enjoyment and mileage as I did. Needless to say, Nina was sad as well as the '87 was the first bike for her and she fell in love with it and riding. I hope Murray's wife gets as much enjoyment out of touring on the '87 as Nina did. A few pics of our '87 side-by-side our new '06.

Dumb question...why not use 4 bottles and eliminate moving the 2 of them from one set of carbs to the other, etc??

I got my answer .... 'nuff said.. thanks Don. Meanwhile, I checked a few of my posts that I thought were "pushing the envelope" and to my surprise, they were still there so, that tells me a lot. Have an awesome Easter weekend guys.... I know I will... I sold my '87 today... buddy is picking it up on Monday!

back around when I was 10, I recall a very large aluminum bottle opener...a "novelty item" that had "Merry Christmas" written on it in several different languages .... my dad bent that sukkah over my behind! To this day, I have a permanent impression on my left cheek of the words "Merry Christmas" in Japanese! :rotf:

Well, I had started the following post but decided to "put it to bed"... then along came Squeeze's post and as a result, I just felt I "HAD TO" put this in.... And I would respect that but I sure would appreciate you clarifying your version of "cussing" and maybe giving me a warning before kicking me out. And who's debating a decision here? ... I'm requesting a notification...nothing more. Further, to my knowledge, I have never had a post deleted. If you're referring to my posts/comments then I'd say it sounds like some people are missing the point. Speaking for myself, I am not suggesting in any way that I am unhappy with the way this site is run... totally the opposite. And I DO CARE what is posted and that has been demonstrated on other threads. So, to clarify, the point is (and this is not a gripe but a simple request)... If a post is borderline or deleted, is it too much to ask the moderator to private message the member as to why. Simple as that. The reasoning behind this is, if a member knows why his/her post is borderline or has been deleted, then they would at least know what is not acceptable by the standards of the moderators of this site. To say "no cussing" is simply not clear enough because we've all seen in here what may be considered "cussing" by some people, yet no one to my knowledge is directly warned and the post stays. That's right...this is not real important to me ... but for some strange reason I feel compelled to take a stand. Maybe it's due to some of the responses LOL (you're eggin me on,,,not you Squeeze) (or maybe I'm just in a "Bad Guy" mood). OK, so it's a dictatorship ... that's fine with me ... and I'll abide by the rules..no biggie. But when a warning is posted about posts that are pushing the envelope, it would really be nice to have a clear definition of where that line is drawn. It would be nice to know if I was pushing the envelope. Others might feel the same...maybe? To lighten it up some, this is like when I was young .. my dad would give me a lickin once a month but never tell me exactly what for other than to say "you've crossed the line once too often last month..." ... all the while I thought I'd been good. Isn't this fun? It's not political, not religious, nobody is bashing anyone (not that I can see) ... there's no "real" cussing going on ... just good "banter" ... and a bit of (....waiting for the responses LOL)

coz it's in my nature to Your interpretation of "cussing" is not necessarilly mine (or for that matter, someone else's) Well, I apologize for being "the devil's advocate" here but if folks don't question things, we would not have a democracy now, would we? Do you go through life simply accepting what is doled out to you? My responses here are directed towards Black Owl's post... The point being, what I would want my wife/child to read is not necessarilly the same as someone else's. And I'm not just speaking for myself. If I read it and feel it is acceptable for "my wife or child" and post it and then it gets deleted, or, it's "pushing the border" all I'm saying is... tell me why. Is that so difficult? Now, I've stated my position and said my piece and made my case. I will get out of this and allow someone else to take up the cause or the thread can simply dwindle away.

Oh what the H3|| ... I'll put some more into this just for the halibut. What does PG mean? According to the "industry" .... Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children. So, that to me suggests that the parent should first review it and if they feel it is unacceptable for their kids, then they do not let the kids view it. Now, I'm not suggesting that we should just allow any smut and crap be posted ... what I am saying (and I apoliogize if I am being obnoxious) is, it sure would be nice to know if a post is borderline or if a post is pulled and why rather than it just "disappearing" and I'm wondering why (because I can't even remember what was in it). Having said that, words like **** and **** are "bleeped" so we mask them with things like sh*t and f**k ... now, anyone who knows anything knows exactly what those words are so why bother bleeping them or pulling the post... why not just say "no such language in any form of it" ? Having said all of this, and it appears my original reply to the original post has opened a can of worms for which I am still looking for that ultimate wiggler .... I am speaking up simply because I have a strong opinion about this and to my knowledge, have never had a post pulled or be borderline...but then again, my knowledge is only as good as the information available (ie, I've never been told). (the saga continues...) Should I shut up now? OK, I will.

I fabricated a switch box out of aluminum and installed a modified mounting plate for the radio controls that moves them over about an inch. The switch box is mounted next to the radio controls. I only have 1 switch there for my high intensity driving lamps but this might give you an idea. I don't have a pic but will take one if you want.

is it illuminated? maybe it's for lighting?

I hope they are prepared for a lot of emails!

I agree and I wouldn't; however, it would be nice to know if a post is either removed, going to be removed, or is borderline and what, specifically, within that particular post constitutes that. Many of you here either have kids or have grandkids (young ones) so you might have a different concept of what the kids shouldn't see. Me, on the other hand, have never had kids (when they were young) nor do I have grandkids, nor do any young kids ever use my computer. Possibly others here might be in the same situation. Further, if I did ... my idea of what is acceptable may well be very different from this site's "pg rating". It is for that reason (and maybe a bit of respect to others) that I would want to be advised if a post of mine was "crossing the line". Clarification ... "when they were young" .... yes, I have a son but from the time he was 1.5 yrs old until he was 33 I never saw him.

great info guys... now the 64 thousand dollar question of the day is.... which is better ... air or electric horns ?? seems to me any electric horn would have a simpler installation as it would require less room (having no air pump).

IMHO, everyone has a different "idea" of what may or may not be acceptable. I don't know if you moderators do this or not but I, for one, would like to receive a personal message if you feel a post of mine is "pushing the envelope". That way at least I have some sort of "benchmark" to go by (other than my own interpretation of what is acceptable or not) Thanks
