if the room cost $25 (not 30) that means each man should have paid $8.33333. Since they only got a dollar returned, they were shortchanged and that's where the "other dollar" is (so to speak). The "reverse" math doesn't add up because of that (you're using 9 instead of 8.33333). something like that

We, in the business, generally have a boot cd with utilities on it to check such things. Not sure I could help you on that from this far away. Using Partition Magic and then ghosting an image back onto the hard drive is redundant as the image creates the partitions. just because you get video and the RAM shows as tho it's all there doesn't mean it's all working correctly. Again, I would use one of my boot cd's or a boot floppy and run some testing utilities on the hardware. Sometimes these things are best left for the "experts" ... in other words, someone who has the technical skills and the tools. You could get all necessary drivers if there were any; however, you'd need to know which motherboard/video card, etc your system has in it. Dell driver CD's , for example, can read the installed hardware and install the proper drivers. When I rebuild a Dell PC, I install Windows and then I run the Driver CD. Until I install the drivers, the video card doesn't work right, the network card isn't accessible, etc etc. hope some of this helps.

heh... the "box" is only to hide all that "ugly" stuff inside from folks's eyes... in fact, you could remove all the components inside, set them on a bench and hook them up and you'd have a working computer ... less the box....but it would look quite a mess! The fans are there to cool the CPU chip and the power supply...they would still do that without the "box" encompassing all the components.

AWESUM!!! she sure sound good thar Brian!! So lookin fwd to seein you ridin at Nelson!

Ditto that... hardware issue

heh... I don't think you've missed the opportunity once to say that!

heh... wish I could give it up but it pays good money...more than I could get at some other job that I might qualify for... looking at another 3-5 years before retirement. Worst thing about computers is trying to keep up with changes in technology. Here where I work the environment doesn't change a lot so technology changes don't impact me as much or as often. As for keeping "home based" pc's running, just changing them out every 2 or 3 years doesn't ensure they will run right... software and users are what generally screws them up and no matter how new it may be, someone still has to fix those issues. The easiest way to keep a computer running smoothly and for a long time is not to add a whole lot of "junk" onto it...but who can do that nowadays? LOL

Unless I didn't read everything, how do you know it's a software issue as opposed to hardware?? You may have a memory chip gone bad, video card issue.... etc On another note, I don't know about emachines but Dell PC's have their own drivers for motherboard, video, network cards, and so on... a Windows CD by itself won't necessarilly pick up and install correct drivers for Dell's hardware... this may be the case with your emachine so getting a Windows CD is not necessarilly going to be the thing that fixes it.

2nd Gen vs 2nd Gen Midnight
SilvrT replied to Iowawegian's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the studded one on my '06 ... I stopped at a yammie dealer one day last Nov and an 07 midnight was there (for sale) ... it had the pillow top. Salesman commented that mine was the first one he'd seen with the studded seats (that hadn't been changed out ... meaning it came stock like that). I commented that I'd never seen any with the pillow top before. I like the looks of the studded seat on the midnight... suits the style but I think I'd like to have the pillowtop just for the extra comfort...and it looks pretty good too! Having said that.... anybody wanna trade??? (even steven) ... pm me. -
now that's almost kinky!

That may be true where you live... but not here...at least some bikes can be test drove but they won't take a brand new one off the showroom floor and let you demo it. Most dealers here will allow you to test drive any used bike...in fact, they encourage it. All you need is a valid license and proper riding gear.
-
I took a closer look and yes, they are Dogwood trees (the white ones). Actually, the petals have pinkish coloring at the outer edges.
-
Come to think of it... I just sold my '87 and they guy never even asked to test ride it. (thank gawd! )
-
How true!!! I sure hope that doesn't happen here (the snow) ... but I could stand for some of those 75 degree days
-
So, a guy could save themselves $2500 if no test ride and cash is paid.... do you offer a 30 day money back guarantee?? How about a warrantee?
-
I bought my '06 before I actually saw it (other than pics and a friend's "thumbs up" and several discussions with the owner) Having said that tho, if it was an older bike with a few thousand miles, I'd be wanting to test ride it. As for me letting someone test ride a bike I'm selling.... that becomes a judgement call after having some discussions with the potential buyer. Each situation is different.

Ladyslippers should be out soon...

Thanks for the tip re: the soapy water... I thought about doing it that way because I've done a lot of that with larger decals in the past but it was such a small piece, I didn't bother. Also, since it's mostly flat, taking a bit of time and smoothing the film down as I go ... I think I had one or two very small bubbles. I've also done quite a bit of window tinting with the "film" ... using soapy water, squeegie, etc. Glad you posted this tho... good info for others not so much "in the know".

The pink ones are Japanese cherry trees... I'm not sure about the white ones... I'll have to look closer at the petals to see if they are dogwood.

Snapped a few pics of springtime downtown Vancouver at the entrance to the SkyTrain.

It just "hit" me .... haven't had her out on the road yet.... kinda now wondering what effect the engine heat will have.... I guess only time will tell. I'll add a post if it scews it up or not.

hmmmmmmm... that gives me an idea ... here we go...another "project" LOL
-
Heh .... I would "venture" to say .... I won't be the only one for long! ... considering the comments. That's good ... sharing ideas is what it's all about. Now that the side covers are done, I'm working on something for the air filter covers and who knows what next after that LOL.

Here's an inexpensive "Carbon Fibre" treatment I used to dress up my electrics side covers. Total cost about $35 and 1 hr of time. Purchase roll of TrimBrite "Carbon Fibre" film and a roll of 1/8 inch "Custom Chrome" accent striping. I got mine at Canadian Tire. You'll need a small spray can of some color...I chose silver (because the bike is black) ... the Carbon Fibre film shows the underlying color and with black, nobody would see it. Mask off the area you want for the Carbon Fibre. Scuff it up a bit with a scuff pad and clean it good with some paint thinner (or other de-waxer, de-greaser) Apply the under color....let it dry good...remove the masking tape. Take a strip of the Carbon Fibre and remove the backing paper. Lay it down slowly and evenly... make sure you don't get any bubbles. If you do, just poke them with a razor knife and work the air out. Trim off the excess with the razor knife. Apply the chrome trim to the edges.

Had I not opened up a can of worms ... well, who knows ...
