  1. ...when your wife is riding with you. After an awesome day of riding yesterday, we stopped at the supermarket to pick up a "few things" for dinner. Not really realizing the implications of my words "get whatever we need honey", I waited at the scoot while Nina went to get "what we needed" for dinner...or so I thought. After what seemed like an hour (well, maybe it was 1/2 hour) I hear "Rick! ... come help me!" .... OH NO I think... sure enuf, she's got a buggy full of bags... 8 bags of groceries ... $90 dollars worth! HOW AM I GONNA FIT ALL THIS INTO THE SCOOT??? Well, after some juggling and re-juggling of things that are already in the saddle bags and trunk and trying this and trying that... I couldn't believe it... I got it all in! At first I was a bit annoyed but after realizing the humour in it, neither of us could stop laffing!
  2. What does one say to such an opening? Frankly, of all the bikes I've owned, NONE have been a "perfect fit" but for me, my '06 is BY FAR the BEST. I experience none of the "issues" you seem to have with one exception, and that, as someone mentioned, is a "personal thing" .... that being the position of the handlebars. Well, I guess that's why they make and sell risers and different bars. No one bike will be a perfect fit for everyone. I realize your comments were designed to be "observations"; however, it sure seemed to me to be a lot of "slamming" and "whining" after only 600 miles. .... and, speaking of whine, you didn't even mention the infamous "clutch whine" ... hopefully you're one of the lucky ones that don't have it. I do hope you eventually iron things out to your liking.
  3. Very nice!!! I love the green/blue stripes against the black!
  4. Unless your scoot is burning oil or leaking it, ... really... how often is it necessary to check the oil? HARDLY EVER! With the exception of when it's oil change time, you should be able to go thousands of miles without worrying about the oil level. OK, now that I've said that.... I ask myself... "why am I checking my danged oil every other week?" ... it must be a "guy" thing. In my case, I get Nina to sit on the bike and bring it upright so I can look at the sight glass... or, I get her to look at it while I got the bike upright. Now if I can only get her to figgure out if it's half full, or half empty!
  5. When a person dares to be different, they get a lot of recognition and man, you're gonna be recognized! Not only that, but you're a leader... Awesome! :thumbsup2:
  6. Check out this link for how I did the side covers... did the air box the same way. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34542
  7. HA!... too many "old ladies" there....think I'll stay home, drink rum, and fiddle with...........my scoot!
  8. Here it is... the "first" attempt... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34962
  9. Well here it is... another chapter in my "Carbon Fibre It" saga... I completed one of the air box covers... waddya think?
  10. cool... I like your's better than my "portholes" ... but, I'm gonna replace them with a carbon fibre arrangement of some sort... maybe I'll work on it tonight (coz I'm too old to go partyin on a Friday eve LOL)
  11. Sorta like mine.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32466 and, here's my "Carbon Fibre" treatment to the electrics side covers which I'm planning to do to the air box eventually. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34542
  12. Thanks Lightnen ... that's the one... silly me tho... I have that but I just didn't re-read that section... DOH! I had it under my nose all the time! :rotf:
  13. Thanks guys for the info ... fyi, I've already installed the fuse block under the seat and I wired it direct to the battery... just thought it might be better to wire it differently for future purposes ie. adding an amp gauge instead of or in addition to my volts gauge in the cluster.
  14. If I understood the info I read about this, wiring directly to the battery does not allow for proper readings on an ammeter. There IS an article about this somewhere...just can't find it. I have relays installed and nothing comes on without the key being turned on.
  15. Somewhere, someone posted a method to wire an aux fuse block into the exisiting charging circuit INSTEAD OF directly to the battery so that those aux items connected wouldn't cause a big drain on the battery and also so that if an ammeter was installed, it would show the correct info.... I think it was V7Goose who posted this info but I can't seem to find it.... anyone have the link handy?
  16. Why not just cut yours down?
  17. BLACK!
  18. This remeinds me of what I told my wife when I introduced her to riding 4 yrs ago (when we were still dating) ... I said .. "going on a trip on a bike has nothing to do with the destination... it has EVERYTHING to do with the ride getting there" ... didn't take her long to understand what I meant.
  19. Great info guys... thanks a bunch ... still learnin things here with my new RSMV!
  20. Good "tip" !
  21. We got racoons around our place too... they get into the garbage and crap on my back deck! Whenever I see them I chase them away and I spray bleach on the garbage cans and the deck so they will stay out...and they do. Ever seen those sukkahs fight... MAN oh man they are viscious...and they can roar like a flippin lion!
  22. awwwwwwwwwww so sowwy Jack... didn't mean to cause you to feel unwanted! :rotf: Gimme time bud... I'll come up with one.... JUST FOR YOU!
  23. DMooch... thanks! very descriptive! ... now one Q leads to one A which leads to another Q ... strap the bike down to what? the jack?
  24. I got one of those jacks everyone uses (like a harbour freight one or a Can Tire one)... my "dumb" question is... what are or is the process of going about getting the bike jacked up. Mine has the foot pedal. What do you do... position it under the bike, sit on the bike, and start pumping it with your foot or what? ... and how do you line it up properly ... I don't have an adapter so was thinking about using hockey pucks (like I've seen suggested somewhere in here).
  25. Use a new, flat-bladed razorblade scraper - NOT! Oftentimes you can if the surface is flat and you keep the angle very low but on the tank, the surface is round and it's very easy to nick the paint. (how do I know this? )
