  1. That's the exact same system I have ... unfortunately, I dropped the danged receiver when I removed it from my '87 (was gonna mount in on my '06) and it don't work no more! :crying:
  2. Any idea how your roadie compares to a 1200cc Sportster in power ... could the roadie take the sporty or? I know my '87 could wax the sporty once I hit 3rd gear and that's riding 2 up. Dunno about how my '06 would do against it.... yet!
  3. I can't comment on what year is better than another but one thing is for sure.... The BLACK ones are the BEST !
  4. sounds like a "selling feature" ... it changes it's own oil .... drive it for 12000 miles and that's 4 qts of oil... an oil change!
  5. You must be referring to that collection of Harley parts in the corner....
  6. ...and I finally got my shop cleaned up so here's my "one bike" garage... did a good job of cleaning and organizing dontcha think?
  7. I had totally forgotten about those PITA pumps I encountered last Aug on our trip to LosOsos. Man-oh-man did I cuss. We have nothing like those up here in CanuckLand. Why do they make those ridiculous pump nozzles like that anyway...could it be just to PO us bikers?
  8. Sounds like the kind of "hearing aid" I need -but- the above benefit can work against ya ... see, if a person finds they have to repeat things more than twice, after a while they just give up
  9. Not true... the former SLD (Speed Limiter Device) had defects and constantly attempted to deter and limit my wildness. My current SLD works flawlessly (from my perspective) .... doesn't limit anything! Having said that, maybe the former SLD worked the way it was intended...I'm not so wild anymore LOL naahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
  10. or... you ARE a redneck if after cleaning out your garage, it looks like Condor's! :rotf:
  11. yeh... well, that goes without sayin fer me! :rotf:
  12. I don't know how folks can do anything when their "space" is in such a disarray and so full of stuff... I'm the opposite... everything has to be neat and clean and orderly .... I'll post pics of my garage in a couple weeks...after I get it into a neat, clean, and orderly state!
  13. One thing I just remembered.... the '85 VR could sure handle the twisties wayyyyyy better than my '83 wing could and even better than my '87 VR ... now, there could be a lot of variable factors contributing to why it was better than the '87VR ... partly maybe coz when I had it, I was wilder!
  14. neither an '86 or '87 Venture have 2nd gear issue. That was cured somewhere mid '85 The Venture has tons more power than the '86 Wing. I had an '83 Wing and compared to my first Venture (an '85), I loved the Venture .... The Wing was great. I put a lot of miles on both. Hard decision to make... guess it's what feels "right" to you.
  15. Since I bought my scoot last Nov, I've had my bags (saddle bags that is ) off at least 6 times...no sign of thread stripping that I could see yet. ;-) Also, bolts such as those are designed to strip/wear out/ etc (softer metal) than the "nut" they thread into so that they wear out and not the "nut"... imagine having to replace the nut because it was stripped!
  16. Fuzzy... did you stay with the stock tire size or did you go to the smaller size for the front?
  17. Thanks... checked em out... I dunno... I use the swivel-end allen wrench (or ball-end or whatevah it's called ) ...I can get em off pretty quick ... takes me longer to take all the "stuff" out that I have in the bags than it does to take the bags off
  18. yeah... what is it with these kids (and some of em ain't kids either) that figgure it's cool to walk around with their already oversized pants hangin down so ya kin almost see daylight between their legs?? and what exactly is holding them up (or should I be askin)???
  19. I can't find anything anywhere on ebay for these... got a link? or more info on these "no tools required" things?
  20. A lot of folks are putting the Road King mufflers on, myself included. Very inexpensive and a nice tone.
  21. I too make my living supporting computer users ... been at it since 1987 ... I've been using AVG now for so many years I can't remember....I highly recommend it. Avast is also equally as good and some report that it takes less system resources...I can't comment as I've never done an in-depth comparison.
  22. timgray... what's your take on Kaspersky products?
  23. Sounds good to me Brian...brang that sukah along!
  24. I didn't read the article other than what was posted here but... is it the victim's blood and urine or the person who hit her that they're checking?
  25. I'm sure this info is in here somewhere but thought I'd just ask anyway... Is there a chart showing the speedo readings @ each 10 mile or kilometer setting and what it should be with the speedo healer ...?? and where can a guy get this speedoheal
