I would not do this..!!!!!!!!! Do not cut them off....you can always use them again or sell them. on chrome weight end cap there is a small plastic cap hiding the allen head bolt that holds the weight on We're talking 1st gen here so there are no end weights (that I can recall)...and, I disagree about cutting...if they are worn out or the original grips or just plain old junkie grips some other idiot put on... CUT EM OFF AND TRASH 'EM

Not fair Brian... I have been about what the other 3 pieces are for?
-
you cut them

you're right about that... it's a dead apple tree; however, it has a honeysuckle vine growing on it and that's what all the small branches are... it will be popping out soon.
-
maybe it's my eyes but.... I see some sort of animal in that tree...

How's this for excellent speed control? I don't know about you, but this would slow me down ! People slow down and try to "straddle" the hole .... This is actually a speed control device that is in use. It is much cheaper than speed cameras. Pretty clever - especially when moved around each day. Isn't art wonderful ?

Can you see the "animal" in the tree? ... What is it?

Dropped my Helmet, need reccomendations on replacement
SilvrT replied to Sunman's topic in Watering Hole
Replace your helmet if you drop it from a couple of feet (ie the seat of your scoot)???? Dang... if I did that every time, I be "helmet poor" instead of "bike poor". Crap, I just bought a new helmet about a month ago and I've dropped it twice already! By that philosophy, I should be on the 3rd helmet! -
Mine is pretty constant at around 210 ... but mine isn't electrical... maybe the electrical ones are a bit more sensitive to the temp swings at the engine whereas the kind I have might not be. Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about it as long as the readings don't go too far beyond 200-210.

Or, do what I did (mentioned in earlier post) I heated the base of the stand so that it would "melt into" the nylon for a perfect, tight fit.

I always had a list...back in the day when I went camping all the time ... it's been so long since I last did that... gonna hafta start all over again... list, camping gear, etc, etc... heck, I think I even forgot how to light a campfire (how much gas do ya need to start one?)
-
hey man...glad you pulled out of that one (the tire blowout I mean ) ... so, are ya gonna tell us how it blew and what kind of tire it was, how many miles on it, etc...??? details...details

While at Star Days a couple years ago, they were handing out round plastic side-stand "pucks". On my '87, I fashioned and bolted into place some material from one of those nylon cutting boards. That worked great. Another idea would be to take a hockey puck and slice it in half...then ya got 2 incase 1 gets lost...
-
They still do...at least around here. Means nuthin to me tho LOL... I towed my scoot home on a U-haul trailer and I sure as heck didn't keep it to 45mph...more like 70

Tying into battery - How?
SilvrT replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The fuse block I used doesn't require grounding... all it does is supply "hot" power thru the fuses to the accessory (which is grounded). I didn't follow the instructions in that link .... None... no fuse, no power to the exposed terminal. I ran a 10 gauge wire from the positive post to the fuse block. -
is this a repair?

Doesn't look "factory" to me...but, I could be wrong. I thought I was "mistaken" once before but I was wrong about that. -

Anybody recognize this?
SilvrT replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
pic is a little blurry so it looks like it could be the blades out of an electric razor (the circular head kind). -
Thought I'd jump in here just to say that I notice mine tends to pull to the left if I'm cruisin down the freeway with the cruise set and I take my hands off the bars. I really don't notice anything as long as I am holding on...even with two fingers.
