  1. there's gonna be an issue if both of them pass gas at the same time!
  2. I agree ... but if you do.... lookie all that oil!! LMAO! Should also mention that the coiled oil line is a whole lot easier to route down a hose or brake line tube than just the open frame. Seems those coiled lines just refuse to "un-coil" and for me was a real PITA to route first time around. ... and ... I believe it was due to that "un-coilability" which caused it to work it's way over too close to the header pipe and melt a hole. As for the compression washer, no matter what I tried, that washer would not seat properly ... it would compress and squish out in an irregular oval and leak. I tried 2 of them and same thing ... yet with the O-ring, first try and it sealed and hasn't leaked yet. Maybe an brand/mfg issue here? (different mfg of compression washer ... yours/mine?)
  3. You will need an adapter to make it work. You can either make one or one of the members on this site makes them (I believe it's "Carbon One") check this link... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1585/cat/7/date/1161840513
  4. see above inserts.
  5. I noticed you're using the compression washer for the water temp ... I couldn't get mine to not leak so I used a rubber O-ring. Didn't have to tighten it much at all ... no leaks so far and I've put on around 5,000 Km. Also note you mentioned using rubber hose to run the oil line... great idea. I used a length of brake line ... was a bit difficult to thread down the inside of the frame but once installed, it sure is "permanent" and the flared ends prevent any damage to the oil line.
  6. I got my scoot with 1300 kilometers on it. It had the 600 mile service (965 km). I changed the oil out to Amsoil Synthetic 10w50. Engine seemed ok but I didn't have much to compare to as I hadn't ridden it much by then. At about 7500 km (summer warmer weather arriving) I changed to Amsoil 20w50 synthetic. Engine seemed noisier and the clutch whine seemed noisier. Changed it out to Rotella T. I get a bit of tappet click when cold start but it doesn't last long and once warmed up, the engine is quieter and the clutch whine isn't quite as bad. I figgure the "tappets" are purposely set a little "loose" from factory for break-in and when the next service is due (I think around 16000 km), the tappets are supposed to be set and I figgure then there will be no clicking.
  7. Same thing on mine and I'm using Shell Rotella T 15w40
  8. I don't think the itch ever goes away ... it just goes to sleep for a while! Danged thing woke up with a vengance last fall ... the '06 RSMV did a good job of scratching it but the itch is still there ... '09 Ultra might help but it ain't gonna happen ... just too much money.

    If I

I would have managed my money better so that I'd have more to show for it today. Other than that, I'd change nothing.
  10. If they were '06 models, then they were prev registered (probably as demo's) if only 2 yr warranty I'd think. ??
  11. $14,448 US plus appx 18% exchange.... doesn't sound like such a good deal to me.
  12. I bought my '06 Midnight last Nov with 1300 kilometers on it for $12,900 excluding taxes. Crikey!...almost got 10,000 km on it now. Very happy with the bike except the whine gets annoying sometimes. It's going into the stealer's this week for the I-basket swap.
  13. I note that this one also acts as a cover for the gas cap, thus eliminating the reflection on the windshield!
  14. heh ... that's one of the first things I figgured out ... took me a while coz it's supposed to take WMA files but they didn't work so I converted a bunch of my wma files to mp3 and copied them onto the card. I got 92 songs on there and have only used 1/2 the space! Next is to figgure out how all the camera settings work. The manual (including the on-line one) leaves a bit to be desired to say the least.
  15. Just got this phone yesterday. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1524 It's way cool, easy to use, and, I can SEE what's there! Anyone else got one?
  16. Well, I don't know.... my RK's are definately LOUDER than stock muffs. I think the pair I got are burned out but they certainly aren't drilled out. Fact is, considering the sound they now make, I don't think I'd want to be drilling them out. I'm not complaining... I like the sound they make.
  17. in the sales biz and especially vehicle sales, it's called "going for the BUMP" .... they low-ball ya to get you in the door and filling out forms ... then the "manager" comes in and says they can't do the deal for "that price"... the "salesman" made a mistake... etc etc... BUT... if you'll do the deal at $_____ ... etc, etc... well, you're already in there and they're gonna pressure ya, and you've already got your heart set on buying that .... hey, it works... I used to be a car salesman LOL
  18. Outlook Express is another one of Microsoft's *buggey* apps... try Thunderbird email.
  19. I don't get that on mine but sometimes do when I go into 3rd ... haven't determined exactly the condition yet but I think maybe it's when I'm shifting too soon (haven't wound it out enuf in 2nd).
  20. PICs ... where are those pics???
  21. That is telling me you DIDN'T get used to it !
  22. :sign20:
  23. I'm LOVVIN it! Not quite as hot as you are Sailor but it's over 30. Funny tho... one forecast is calling for clouds and 40% chance of showers for the weekend and another forecast says sunny all weekend. ????
  24. See my post about another oil change and the effect on the whine, etc... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=344631#post344631 BJB ... regarding the I-basket change... according to a dealer here, and what I've heard elsewhere, they will change out the basket once only and yes, if you're not happy with that, tough! Try the Rotella T oil and see if that helps. BTW, I ride with a "beanie" aka skull cap helmet in the hot weather so all sounds are greater ... While the Rotella does not totally clear up the whine, it does seem much better (at least to me). hope this is of some help to ya.
