  1. Maybe Brian just likes "honking his own horn" ...
  2. I'd guess you've never been up here .... after all, living in an igloo ... it don't get much gooder 'n that! :rasberry: *oink* *oink*
  3. the vid wasn't available but it appeared as though the pig rode on a trailer behind the scoot. Personally I have an issue with that, in that the animal is sitting there, breathing in all the carbon monoxide and whatever else from the bikes exhaust. I just don't see that as a good thing to be doing.
  4. Great job! ... they almost look as good as mine! I chose to route the aux input jack up the handlebar and I used 2 screws thru the front of the faceplate to secure my gauges. Securing them from the inside was a bit of a problem with mine due to the design/method the gauges were secured to the faceplace. It left me with nothing to connect any bracketry to.
  5. First time around it took me about 2 1/2 hrs but I spent quite a bit of time cleaning the pipes, etc and fussing. Don't recall how long it took the second time but I'd guess about 1 hr RE & RE There are only 2 bolts holding the collector onto the frame. Get under the bike if you can with a trouble light to locate them or use a mirror. As long as the front header pipes are out of the collector, mufflers are off, and clamps are loose for the rear header pipes-collector, and mounting bolts are out, a few taps with a hammer or a bit of prying with a bar and the collector should just drop right off. EDIT: just a quick note... the more beers you have, the longer this project will take .. LOL!
  6. ahhh... that was my third guess
  7. Regarding the friction zone, I found I learned where it was and became comfortable with it when inching up a hill behind slow or stop & go traffic or just pulling away from a dead stop up a hill without rolling backwards (as I generally hold the bike at a stop with the front brake soas to keep both feet on the ground).
  8. Interesting... I note that in the second pic, the rider is doing a sharp right turn but looking straight forward. What happened to the "look in the direction you want to go" rule? Could it be that the pic was snapped just as the rider was about to change direction or?
  9. It could be that the other 2 that make up 8 are for the front header pipes coz you have to loosen or remove them to drop the collector and in so doing, they may get damaged or may just be worn out and need replacing anyhoo. When I did my collector on both the '85 & the '87, I replaced all the gaskets. It wouldn't hurt to get all you "may" need... just in case.
  10. How many? 1 @ each exhaust inlet to the collector (that's 4) 1 @ each exhaust outlet from the collector (that's 2) Total of 6 The inlet ones are made of a soft material. The outlet ones are either copper or brass. Get 'em from Yamaha and I believe they're 20 bucks a piece? (NO ... get 'em somewhere cheaper)
  11. lifters? assuming that were true, then wouldn't one hear more than one thing ticking?
  12. have you tried gas or diesel fuel? When I was a kid we used to carve a small piece of wood in the shape of a boat.. then we'd smear pine pitch on the back and stick it in the water... it would actually propel the wood. We got a lot of that pitch onto ourselves ... can't recall how we got it off ( I was about 8 at the time )
  13. Now THAT I would like to have seen!
  14. oh yeah ... Hongcouver ... You will see more exotic cars and SUV's in this city than anywhere and guess who's driving them ... and then guess where they get the money ... Correct on both counts!
  15. heh ... with this area being one of the highest drug producing areas in north america and maybe even beyond that, we're getting pretty used to "gang-style" killings. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Abbotsford+Mission+highest+capita+homicide+rate+Canada/1812183/story.html Follow some of the links in the above. This one isn't all that far from my house ... http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Police+seek+help+solving+targeted+murder+Burnaby/1809634/story.html
  16. I got the RK's on mine ... they sound good but I'm going to drill them out for a bit more "volume". That, along with the tunes, a 3/4 helmet, and running at higher revvs should all but drown out any bothersome engine noises LOL ... now what to do with that whine commin from the back seat??? (hope she doesn't read this post ... sorry darlin... I'm just joshin)
  17. Can you be more specific on the exact surgery? What is it called? What exactly do they do? My wife is constantly stuffed up, has long-lasting sneezing "attacks", is constantly coughing to clear her throat because it interferes with her speaking & voice. I would really like to see her get rid of this.
  18. TOO MUCH INFORMATION!
  19. no, that's not the noise I was referring to ... the ticking happens AFTER the engine has started. Fuel pump has already done it's thing and generally, it only ticks for a couple seconds ... usually around 3-5 ticks.
  20. I've owned an '85 and an '87 before this '06. I couldn't believe how noisy the engine on the '06 is compared to the other 2. Essentially, it's the same engine. I compared to to a few other's and most sounded the same except for a couple that were quieter. I also went to the dealer and had the mechanic listen real close ... this guy knows his stuff and he says that's how they sound. It seems like every moving part can be heard. Mine also has a fairly loud ticking sound when I first start it ... lasts for about a minute...maybe 2 at the most. I heard that is associated to the cam chain adjuster which is hydraulic. I figgure, what the heck ... it's got a warranty so if something is wrong, Yamaha can fix it. So, I just drive it and lately, now that I got a few miles on it, I've been crankin it on pretty good sometimes. Hit the rev limiter a couple times yesterday...on purpose, just to see if it would (or wouldn't) blow up! LOL I've also been training myself to run it at higher revvs (stay in a gear longer) to get away from that gawdawful whine ... seems to be working. I've also stopped wearing my half helmet and staying with the 3/4 as that cuts out a lot of the engine noises.
  21. Well, I right-clicked it and chose Save Picture as... and I got whut I got .. a small pic LOL Send me the full-size one and I'll make a new bike for ya. Nevermind... I got the BIG ONE now... LOL Sorry, edges are a bit rough. First pic is blacked to the edge of the ring.. second is blacked to the inside (edge of headlight)
  22. I would but you're one year too early LOL
  23. here ya go but the pic is so small it was hard to do a decent job... maybe email me an original file that is bigger and I can send a copy back to ya.
  24. Thanks for the offer but I would still want the chrome part from the edge in towards the headlight. Here's a pic of what one might look like with the driving lamps installed.
  25. Interesting comment as I am not totally sold on the added driving lights (passing lights) that most put on... to me they don't seem to belong with that particular fairing (like they do on the Harley). Having said that tho, I like the fairing of the G2 and I think I even like it more with the change in the headlight shroud ... it looks much more streamlined (to me).
