  1. Only some provinces are government insurance. Alberta, I believe, is still private ins. Here in BC, you have to get your basic 3rd party liability and your plates thru ICBC (govn't ins) but I believe you can purchase all the rest from private ins but I haven't really looked into that.
  2. Let's see... ICBC insurance costs me $192/month.... thats .... thats.... OMG!!! thats TWO THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED AND FOUR DOLLARS A YEAR!!! And gas is around $1.12/litre (appx $4.24/US gallon). I NEED A RAISE! ... it's no wonder I've had to reduce my beer consumption!
  3. Well, if that's the case, you know what you shoulda done..... yes, the fire season has been pretty bad this year....again! We rode from Vancouver to Hope & back yesterday and the smoke in the sky was very heavy. This morning, the sunrise...wow ... that sun was beet red in color due to the smoke in the air.
  4. I drilled all the baffles out at once. It's not a lot louder when idling or warming up with a bit of choke. They are a bit louder at highway cruise and definately louder driving around the city streets but they really BARK good when you get on the throttle. Personally I don't find the sound bothersome at cruising speed and a week ago I did a little over 1250 km's (appx 775 or so miles) and I liked the sound...wasn't bothersome at all whereas before I drilled the baffles out, it was somewhat bothersome simply because the sound seemed to be coming from below me rather than behind me...which is what it is now. I like the "bark" they make when I crank it on. Too bad you can't ride someone's scoot that has theirs drilled out. One of the other guys from around here called me the other day to ask if he could come and hear mine and I will let him ride it coz you really can't know what it will be like until you're riding it. I do feel; however, that the RK's with the baffles drilled out have somewhat of a harsher sound than, say, a set of Bub's or Kromewerks. But, for $50 for the RK's, I ain't complaining. Years ago I had a set of Jardine's on my '85. I found them to be bothersome on a long ride. Frankly, the clutch whine bothers me more than any muffler sound. Hope this helps ya.
  5. That's because we kept all the sunny, warm (and sometimes even HOT) weather out west. Man oh man this has been one of the best summers I've seen in a long, long time, especially here on the Wet Coast! sorry bud... maybe next year ;-)
  6. ditto that!!! Avg house prices around here are more like $555k. It's friggin crazy. My first house was $14.5k back in 1975. How first-time buyers can afford a house nowadays just boggles my mind.
  7. I rode today... now I'm here. Wife & I went for brekkie (on the scoot of course)...then I dropped her off at her daughter's place and I took off for a few hours.... While out I dropped into a custom bike shop and demo'd a custom chopper just for the fun of it. yeeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  8. Dang!! it blew offa my face enroute... LOL
  9. Here's a few pics of some of the scoots at Azzkikkerz .... plus a Lotus, and me on the one I tested out! It rode pretty good; however, going around corners was a little weird but by the time I got back to the lot, I was able to do a complete "tight" 360 while keeping my feet on the pegs and not falling over LOL The little Red one with the flames is a product they import from China... has a 300cc engine and cruises @120km/h .. sells for $5700 +/-
  10. Not 100% certain about this but if you have MS Excel, you may have to download a Works convertor in order to open that file. Unless of course cbmel can save it as an Excel file? Frankly, I'd dump Works and use OpenOffice instead.
  11. I dunno if expecting a return on investment thru rental revenue is a realistic thing ... wouldn't one use the rental revenue to cover the mortgage, taxes, and upkeep and the long-term equity would become the return on investment -OR- a minimal return would be realized on the rental combined to the that of the equity you'd realize in, say, 10 years if you sold the place. Now, I know absolutely nothing about this... just a wild guesstimate.
  12. ps... when you remove the fuel line from the petcock, hold a rag under it and drain the excess gas (not a lot) from the line....also prevents getting gas all over whatevah. Also, don't be smokin nuffin when yer doing this .... no, it ain't a voice of experience...just common sense LOL
  13. FYI (for those who haven't attempted this) ... removing the tank is very easy. Turn off the fuel petcock, remove the fuel line, unscrew and remove the plastic tank cover, remove the seat, un-screw the rear bolt, remove the plastic side covers at the front of the tank, un-screw the 2 side screws, un-hook the wire connector at the top, and pull it off. (I might have missed a step...repeating all this from memory since I've had mine off appx 1/2 dozen times or so)
  14. I'll try and get some pics .... we had a "hat day" at work the other day and Nina found me a black beard so I donned it, my "beanie" helmet and glasses ... everyone got a good laff... maybe I should wear that to the demo .... I'll probably fit in better LMAO!!
  15. AZZKIKR Custom Cycles Demo Day http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/mcy/1343905048.html anyone in this area commin??
  16. yep, diffrn't strokes .... I like my XM ... lots of different channels to go to that will suit a person's mood and I also use it in the house and my truck... one subscription, 3 different places.
  17. Anyone got one of these? http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/pdfs/antennas/AWSR-232045MT_detailed_information.pdf
  18. Some swear by FireFox but frankly, almost everytime someone is having a problem with a browser, it's seems to be with fireFox ... I don't get it. I refuse to use firefox for that simple reason. I have been using Maxthon for as many years as it has been out (maybe 10?) and I have NEVER had a problem with it....ever. I've also installed it on numerous other computers and nobody has yet to have a problem with it...FireFox isn't even compatible with all websites or specialized web-based applications so why do folks seem to think FireFox is so great is totally beyond me. Maxthon uses the IE engine and has many features not included in IE. Sorry I can't offer assistance even though I am a tech but I just don't support FireFox. Sorry for ranting ;-)
  19. I dunno about "hydraulic" but I'm somewhat of an "electric" personality....
  20. here's an interesting tidbit of info... http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm here's another... http://www.ntnoa.org/enginebreakin.htm I shoulda read both before I shot my mouth off above LOL
  21. uhhhhhhh... did they supply the password.... :rotf:
  22. IMHO ... take it easy as the manual says until after that first, critical oil change. Then start opening it up but don't take it to the rev limiter.... vary the rpm's. After the second oil change... crank it on ... you can't hurt it much and "babying" it is worse than anything. Further, lugging it ain't a good idea either... keep those revvs up...that's what these engines like. just my somewhat educated/uneducated opinion.
  23. you can use this site to generate a secure password... http://www.pctools.com/guides/password/
  24. well... ok... so I don't do it EVERY DAY ....
