  1. Around here, to the best of my understanding, the left lane is not exclusively for "passing" and then once you've passed someone, you must go back into the right lane. I don't see that or have read anywhere that it is supposed to be that way. What is posted is ... "Slower traffic keep right". It then seems to be left to each individual to determine if they are considered "slower traffic". What does happen is the faster moving traffic is often in the left lane and when someone is in that lane and driving slower than the rest of the flow in the left lane, they "generally" move over to the right to allow the traffic to pass them. Yup, we pass in the left lane most of the time but it is not for "passing only" ... and then there are times when the right lane is moving faster than the left so, we then pass on the right. Maybe it's a "Canuck thing" or a "BCer thing" ...???
  2. RE: BoomerCPO, Yammer Dan, & friesman1 posts. I totally agree that if enforcement isn't happening, the law is useless...but is it? Well, let's suppose a driver gets in an accident. That driver happens to be texting. It's not law yet ... who's at fault (legally)? ... now, bring in the law... it makes it easier to place blame and lay a charge I would think. Just like seat belts.... what are the chances of getting caught without one? But, when ya do...and eventually ya will if ya don't wear em.... you will get a fine and that makes a person think twice about it and if all we can do is make people THINK...then the law is worth it. It's all about education and isn't that what we really want? How many times do you have to tell someone about something?... but when you stop telling and start punishing, maybe they start listening. As per Brian's province... there will be a grace period for the month of January and I have no doubt that the police around here will be running many "blitz's" to "get the word out". They will be watching for that at every speed trap. EDIT: ooops... I meant "BooNer" ...
  3. Cellphone use is the No. 1 cause of distracted driving, which causes one out of every four car accidents in B.C. Distracted driving causes about 117 deaths every year. http://www.theprovince.com/news/Warning+drivers+Cellphone+starts/2370110/story.html It's about time!

  6. Thanks! ... I've since changed them because installation of the bar risers didn't allow for the "full width" plate so I have one on each side now...
  7. You gotta pull the engine and split the bottom case. It's caused mostly by a "thrust washer" that's worn out and was originally too thin from factory. There's lots of info about this and Rocket is one member who can be of big help on this. $1900 is too much when 2nd gear is gone. IMHO

  15. I would definately go to W7 instead of Vista Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, Maxthon .... they all have their respective "good and bad" ... personally I have been using Maxthon for appx 10 yrs. I've tested all the others and have not seen anything that entices me to change. This will probably become your own decision ~after~ you have tried some of them out.

    Tinnitus

WOW! ... I had no idea so many of y'all have this. I guess I've had it for 10 or 15 years but it would only be noticeable once in a while...until lately. For the past couple weeks it seems to be constant. I've been trying to just ignore it but there have been the odd times when I just can't ... kinda drives me crazy (as if I ain't already there) ... I have noticed tho that if I tend to dwell on it...it certainly seems to get louder...that's when I start looking for distractions.

    Tinnitus

LOL... yeah... I have this one voice which keeps saying "somebody turn off that $%^# ringing!"

    Tinnitus

but.... but.... that doesn't make sense .... the only time I don't have "ringing in the ear" is when I'm riding the scoot .... then it's called "WHINING" ... so, not the same thing!

    Tinnitus

Tinnitus (or "ringing in the ears") is sound or noise that no one but the person with the condition can hear. The noise can be constant or come in short bursts, lasting for long periods of time or just briefly. The sound can be loud or soft, can change in pitch and can be heard in either one or both ears. Each person who has tinnitus can probably describe it in a different way. Doctors estimate that over 50 million people in the United States suffer from some type of tinnitus and about one-quarter of them are uncomfortable enough to look for relief. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone here suffer from this? What have you done about it?
  24. I didn't read all the posts on this but.... an FAQ is an awesome idea. What would also be awesome is that if each FAQ item can be hyperlinked to wherever the answer(s) are...that way a person could just click on the item and be taken directly to the pertinent info. (did someone already mention this?)
  25. Not all CPU's will have a fan ... many will only be cooled by a large heat sink. If the heat sink is clogged with dust, it won't be as efficient and cause the CPU to overheat. All systems will have a fan in the power supply. That fan is oftentimes very quiet so you have to look at it to see if it's spinning...hold a kleenex near the back and see if air movement is coming out. When you shut the PC down and let it cool off, then it allowed itself to boot normally. The system probably has a built-in diagnostic for CPU heat and won't allow the PC to boot properly if it's too hot.
