  1. Have you tried running some SeaFoam thru it? 7500 miles is very little for 3 yrs old ... that indicates it's been possibly sitting a lot ... so the carbs could be gummed up. Also, maybe the idle speed is too low.

    Why?

why is a crooked letter... what?
  3. WHY?? oh wait.. we already have one for "why" ... :rotf:
  4. I have a "single vehicle" garage which is underneath the spare & master bedrooms. I use this for heating it when I'm working in there. Got it at Home Depot Reddy 25K BTU LP CONVECTION HTR Model: TC101http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/HDPIPPage/square.gifStore SKU #: 1000401645 Heats up to 600 Sq. Ft. Runs Approximately 17 to 29 Hours on a 20 lb. "Gas Grill" LP Cylinder
  5. You will get varying opinions on this Q. Mine is ... I believe they say 1/3 throttle so that you are not loading up the engine too much. 1. Do not lug the engine...it is not a V-twin ... it needs rpm's 2. Do not keep it at the same rpm for extended period ... vary the rpm ... use the gears. 3. 60 mph won't hurt it ... nor will 70 ... probably not even 80. Vary the speed & rpm when in 5th or for that matter, any gear. 4. Do not lug the engine ... I know I said that already... I mean it. These engines are bullet-proof... there's not much you can do to hurt them. Once you're over the 600 and had your 1st service, just go out and drive it like you would any other new vehicle that you RESPECT.
  6. The question then becomes... which HAND do YOU USE? Oh really? ... most people use toilet paper !!
  7. There's something missing in that vid ... it didn't show how the new roll got onto the roller ... or do they come that way?
  8. The lid can be up... "they" prefer it that way... but the seat ... now that's a different story ... especially if ya leave it up! :rotf:
  9. ya.... reach too far and... oooops ... :rotf:
  10. The former...not the latter...definately NOT the latter. Just look in any hotel/motel... it rolls off the top and has a nice little fold ... well, most do
  11. is the above some kindof "dig" due to the fact you ride a GW ???

  13. As the story goes.... Apparently the dealer, when replacing the basket with an "I" basket, get's the "OK" from the warranty rep. The rep advises someone where all the parts come from and the dealer is supposed to order a "standard" basket. The folks at the parts place are then supposed to ship an "I" basket. Last July when they supposedly replaced the basket, the parts place shipped a "G" basket by mistake....the dealer didn't check it when they got it...they just "assumed" it was an "I" basket and put it in. This time around there was a big hassle over who's responsible and apparently the same mixup happened...a "G" basket was shipped. The dealer got that straightened out and had an "I" basket shipped out but I guess there's still this debate going on over who's responsible for the original mixup. The result may be that the dealer has to "eat" the cost. What impresses me is that the dealer said "as long as you're (meaning me) happy, then that's all that matters".
  14. ain't that the truth ! :D As has been reported in various threads, success with the "I" basket is a 50/50 chance. The few km's I drove weren't, IMO, sufficient to give me confidence that the bike will sound this way all the time .... maybe once I've got a couple thou.... I'm keepin my fingers crossed.
  15. Actually, it originally was the main component of a "CRANIUM EXTRACTOR" once used in 1014BC as part of other "torture" paraphanalia of the time.
  16. With reference to following thread(s) ... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43130]Update on Clutch "I" basket - VentureRider.Org[/ame] I have now received my "I" basket, installed it, and tested it. In fact, we had a fantastic sunny day here on the "wet"coast, albeit just a tad chilly (6 celcius) so I got a day permit and put on around 200km. I am so happy to report that the WHINE is all but GONE! ... The "I" basket swap has eliminated appx 70% and now is only slightly noticable. YIPPPEEEE! oh yeah... as promised... here are the pics of the MONSTER TOOL I made to hold the basket in order to undo/tighten the nut. Sorry, I ain't sellin it nor am I givin it away... it's worth waaayyyyy to much!
  17. instead of just " y'all " ... it's now " y'all ...eh "
  18. Rick, I think you've been coming to Canada too much... I noticed you're starting to talk with an " eh " ...
  19. that's good Rick.... real good ! ... eh (phsycology 101 ... )
  20. I'll sell mine after I'm done with it .... heck, I'll even give it to you (but I'm not so sure you'd want to admit to anyone that you actually have it in your posession) ... :rotf: (I'll post a pic once I'm in the progress of putting the clutch back together this weekend)
  21. I'd think you could use it to trigger the relay but as the main power source for the lights you should have a heavier, fused line. As Sarges46 says "Check out the tech section on wiring passing lamps"
  22. I have just been informed by my dealer that he has received my " I " basket and I can come get it. Here is his previous email to me... "hi Rick let me start by apologizing I messed-up with Yamaha's info. I had ordered the wrong part number and confused the heck out of Toronto and that is why it has been taking so long. I have since resolved the problem and will expect the part in within a few days. again I am so sorry for all of this.I will let you know as soon as I get it in. " This guy is, IMHO, great!
