Fairing Dampers and Risers
SilvrT replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I couldn't get a "top" shot due to the aux light switches being in the way. I tried to put them in the way you did but it seemed to be too tight and I was concerned about cracking the inner fairing or something like that. -

That's the best shot I could get Wally. Yes, they are wedged in there ... I think they are upside-down and that's what provides the "wedge" between the handlebar and the fairing. I remember that it was a tight fit and they've been there now for a whole summer of riding. -

hmmmm... mine were just pressure-fitted and there was no way I could get them back in the same way after installing the risers as it was just too tight between the handlebars and the back of the fairing. I forgot to look at them last night so will try and remember tonight and to snap a pic of how I put mine back in. -
come to Vancouver, BC ... no snow here!! (except on the mountains and even there is is disappearing)

Interesting ... thanks ... and are you running a 150 front?
-
Thanks Eck ... the info re: the 130 is exactly what I was looking for.

Thinking back to the post I read, I believe the person must have been riding either a V-Star or a Road Star coz they stated their scoot came stock with a 170. I've contemplated going with the car tire on the rear but after reading a number of posts I don't think it will be right for my riding style or the roads around here (a lot of twisties).

bump .. ??? guys ?? Thought I had Bridgestones but NOT ... they're Dunlop D404's .... 18,000+ kms and still lots of tread on the rear ... front is close to the wear indicators.

her name is Tu Yeung Tu ...

Why do you ask why? (not another "why" thread I hope)
-
ROFL ... that looks almost as bad as the one I made ... at least from looking at yours it probably took you about 1/8th the amount of time to build it!

Been cruising some posts for variations in Tires and their mfg codes/sizes. Stock Brickstones are 150-80H-16 front and a 150-90H-15 rear Avon's are (from what I can tell) Front: Avon AM41 150/80-16 71H Rear: Avon AM42 150/90B15 80H I can't find a listing for a 130 Avon for the front ... they do have them (yes/no)? I also read elsewhere in the site that someone's running a 180 rear.. can we put a 180 on and if so, what brand/code/size? Would also appreciate list of other brands/codes/sizes you guys are running ... I want to go with a 130 front.

Parts for Front Wheel bearing replacement
SilvrT replied to LilBeaver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Been a while since I replaced front bearings but definately you want to replace the seals too. I think the bearings are pre-greased but I can't recall. doesn't matter... grease 'em anyway. ya need 2 of each and I think that's about all for parts. btw, these bearings are single-unit meaning the bearing doesn't come out of the race like those on a car. ( I think ) LOL... memory..it's an age thing! -
I would take a good look at the shifter linkage first ... make sure it is not binding and is adjusted properly.
-
Very SCARY! Would be interesting to see something similar for Canada or for that matter, other countries.

We had this one a while ago ... pretty sure I aced it...

dunno if that's something I'd be broadcasting.... :D

That's an air intake and unless you're blowing the horn a lot during riding in real crappy weather, not likely much of anything is gonna get into the horn innards. IMHO
-
Cold weather??? where??? The last time we had below freezing temps was in November. Been hitting 6 - 12 above celcius every day since. If the scoot wasn't apart for maintenance, I'd be out riding.

I installed the stock rubber spacers but I had to put them in upside down and opposite sides... used a bit of WD40 to get them into place and they're still in there. That's been almost a year now.
