    One should drill a small "pilot" hole first (either from inside or outside) ... appx 1/8 inch. It will make the 5/8 one easier, especially from the outside and the 1/8 will be a LOT easier from the outside. If you take a centre punch or something with a sharp point and give it a whack (not too hard) where you want the hole to be, the 1/8 bit will catch that and stay centred when you start to drill ... use a variable speed drill and start slowly and once the bit starts cutting you can pick up the speed (if drilling from the outside) just my $0.05

    Rick... when your in the process of putting it all back together, get a tube of "brake lube" aka "anti-squeal" and apply a small amount to the parts of the brake pads (the backing plate & other metal parts, not the brake pad surface) that touch or rub against the caliper points/pistons and other similar points.

    I just bought a new front tire and the shop quoted $24 off the bike, $45 on the bike (front or rear) to mount & balance. Truthfully, I don't think they took into consideration what was needed to do for the rear coz this shop deals mainly in sport bikes. Don't matter anyhoo coz I'd be taking the wheels off the bike myself (mainly coz I don't trust a shop to do it right)

    heh... I know what it's like in your area .... sorry, I ain't tradin! Yeah..it's really weird the way the weather has been ... record highs here and snow/cold in Texas ... and I had a hankerin to move there...whatevah was I thinkin LOL

    Most automotive parts jobbers should carry the relay ... you want a Bosch 4 (I think it's 4) point relay. Bosch is a good one but anything comparable in quality would do.

    Regarding the battery cables and corroding .... many folks might clean "what is visible" but the corrosion works it's way down the cable, inside the cover and in between the cable strands. Rip back some of the covering to check this and if there is corrosion and the cable is long enuf, cut it back to where the corrosion ends, clean what's remaining, solder it and install a new battery clamp.

    gas pedal???? don't you mean throttle? 7.1 celcius = 44.6 fahrenheit 6.3 celcius = 43.3 fahrenheit in other words ... El Niño

    The numbers are in and we've hit an all-time record for the month of January. The average daily temp was 7.1 celcius. The previous record, last hit in 2006 was 6.3 celcius and our highest temp for Jan was 14 celcius. WOW!

    how's this for worms... I'm installing a Bridgestone Spitfire S11 130/90 on the front tomorrow and once the stock rear Dunlop is worn out, and depending on how well the front does, I'll be getting a 170/80-15 Spitfire S11 for the rear. Can't comment on performance of them at this time but I eventually will.

    Great advice Renne...thanks!!! The new guitar the guy in the shop showed me definately had a much better sound than mine and did have a solid wood top. Learning to play is one of those "bucket list" items and if I never get good at it, I really don't care so for the time being, I'll stick with this Yamaha but if/when I do decide to get a better one, I am certainly a lot better educated now.

    the one I have is less than 10 seconds. I think most of the newer one are pretty quick. Heck, I can even remember 15 years ago a higher quality Office HP would get the first page out in about 10 seconds or less.

    All good advice Renne but a little clarification would be appreciated. Are you inferring (and concurring with the shop guy I mentioned) that a Yamaha guitar (in this case an F310 having a new price of $199) is of inferior quality to other brands in the same price range? This guy in the shop showed me a different brand (new) guitar which he sells for $199, suggesting that it was of much better quality. Really, how is one to know ... what should a guy be looking for?
