1. If I recall correctly, oil pressure at idle with engine hot is around 5psi so yes, the gauge needle will sit pretty low. When you first start the bike, pressure will go up to around 60 and stay there for a while until the engine is warmed up. All normal.
2. Your bike (2004 I believe) is no longer covered under warranty so my advice would be to purchase the basket and do the swap yourself. It's not that difficult and there's lots of tech info on how to do this here as well as the proper part number is listed.

Same for me out here in the "Wet Coast" .... and it hasn't been quite as wet as usual either.
4. and a lotta good that will do i figure  seems there's never a lack of money when it comes to these kinda things!
5. Like you, I have been reading postings about others being able to ride during "winter months" and it's hard to take when it's too cold or wet or snowy outside. I feel for ya bud ... but your time is comming! Today was "my time" ... even took the day off work cos that PMS was really affecting my work performance (or so I told the boss LOL).
6. Yeeehaaaa!! First ride of the year!! Man did that feel great! PMS all gone (for a few days at least!) Brand new 130/90 front tire... what a difference!! Scoot handles so much better at low speed although it does tend to track a bit differently at highway speed. No more whine since the "I" basket went in ... just the bark of the RK's and some good tunes commin out of the XM is all I heard. yeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaa! Snapped a shot parked at White Rock ... look at that calm water and blue sky! Luv It ! (am I pumped or what?)
7. I like to bite and chew the hard ice cream just to make those with "real teeth" cringe with envy LOL ... that and ice cubes... yummmmmm crunch crunch!! watch out for the brain freeze!! LOL
8. According to what I've been able to find out, Sea-bond Denturite has been discontinued and what is still available is left-over stock that will quickly be gone. I did find another product but no place I know of here in the West Coast of Canada sells it. http://www.shopinprivate.com/ac2tedere.html The wife has been buggin me for about 3 years now to get new ones since mine are so old ... mebbe this is a "sign" ?? Might be worth it just to get her to stop pesterin me LOL (just kiddin honey)
9. oh, and FIY .... I'm gonna bookmark this thread so I'll have the instructions handy coz this is one MDO I'm definately gonna do.
10. OK, let's get REAL TECHNICAL about this.... what the heck does DYI stand for? LOL! (or should it have been DIY ?)
11. Not necessarilly ... I'm seeing amber in the one's I observed.
12. Looks great !! my wife did the same to our '87 and she's planning to do it to the '06 (one of these days). On the '87 we had a divider that ran from front to rear about 4" in from the right edge. It was held in place with velcro tabs on each end. I got that idea from my '85 which had it when I bought it.
13. This is exactly the same proceedure used for the Sea-Bond denturite product I've been using.
14. LOL @ rande.. My dentures are in good shape... teeth are still sharp, etc... it's just that the lowers now fit quite loose due to gum shrinkage. Dentureite is not a "stick-um paste or glue, etc" .... it is actually a 2-part mix of a powder and a liquid hardener that you mix together, pour into your denture and place in your mouth ... almost like what a dental mechanic might use.... it solidifies to the shape of your gums but is still pliable. It wears out after a month-2 months. Like I said, been using the stuff for many, many years and there's nothing else out there like it. It was always available at various drug stores... now all of a sudden none of them have it. Almost makes me wonder if the dental mechanic's "society" has boycotted the manufacturer to stop producing the product because it takes away a lot of their business (a do-it yourself kit). I first started using this product way back in the middle 70's. Can't believe after all this time they'd stop producing it. Kinda gets my feathers ruffled that it's not available. Oh well... mebbe I vill habta go wifout mu teef!
15. I know a lot of you are "older" (like me) so there's a good chance many of you have dentures (like me). In fact, I've had dentures (uppers and lowers) since I was 23 yrs old. I'm 28 years into my second set (pretty good by most standards). Up until about 3 years ago, they've fitted pretty good. The first set lasted about 5 years before the fit started deteriorating. Anyhoo... I HATE spending tons of money at the dental mechanic's for a re-line so I've been using a product called Sea-Bond Denturite http://www.dentist.net/sea-bond-denturite.asp to reline my dentures. I love this product ... it does a great job and lasts about 2 months. Anyway, all of a sudden none of the places I normally found it carry it anymore .... it's like it's just not available. If I can't find this product, I'm doomed! ... it will mean I have to go to the dental mechanic and have them re-do my dentures (too old to re-line according to them) to the tune of a few thousand dollars. Anyone else experiencing my dilemma? Got any suggestions?
16. and here's my "non-essential bling" safety-chrome ...
17. nuther dumb thought... is the charger set for 6 volt or 12 volt? maybe these lights aren't for automotive 12 volt? just a stab in the dark here...
18. dumb question but have you tried them again on the charger after trying them on the scoot...???
19. yup... in a protected area with direct sunlight I can believe it! You guys over there tend to get more sunshine than we do and we also seem to get more outflow from the valley that keeps us a bit cooler. So, with all that warmth, were you out on the scoot? I just got mine all back together after a thorough take-down & maintenance / inspection. Replaced the front tire with a 130/90 ... lookin fwd to see how it feels.
20. awwwwwwwwwww I'm so envious .... NOT !!
21. Sunny with a few cloudy periods and high of 10 celcius (50 f) today ... unfortunately I am working today but if I get done early enuf, I'm goin for a ride!! If not, Monday is looking about the same (Sunday is out) so may take that day off and do some RIDIN!! Gotta scratch this ITCH soon!
22. No idea what is available today but several years ago I acquired a fairly good slide scanner for a client (cost around $2000 at that time). It had an adapter to hold something like 8 or 9 slides and the "lid" was the part that scanned the slides. Can't recall the make of it now but it did a very good job and was quite fast. I seem to recall that there were only about 3 scanners to choose from that would handle multiple slides and the next one up was over $5000. It was a SCSI connection as nothing else at that time could provide a decent data transfer speed. Not much help for ya but I can suggest that a better quality one will probably work best.
23. When I had my '87 which had over 100,000 kms I tried synthetic and the clutch started slipping under load in 4th (a bit) and 5th (quite a bit). I've read where others have experienced similar and the rule of thumb seems to be that if it's used to non-synthetic and has quite a few miles, don't change to synthetic.
24. At least he didn't high-side it LOL
25. Just a wild guess but carbs out of balance might ... 1 & 2 running richer/leaner and/or hotter ... causing compression rings to fail sooner maybe???? like I said... just a wild guess.
