  1. I am running the stock Dunlop rear tire. I replaced the stock front tire with a Bridgestone Spitfire 130/90 (stock is 150). I noticed the bike wanted to wander while going in a straight line. It was as if I had a flat rear tire. I was running 38lbs front and 46lbs rear. I dropped the rear to 42lbs and like magic, it tracks straight now. Try making small adjustments to the tire pressure. A couple lbs here and there can make all the difference.
  2. I tried it with just one (from the aft end) drilled out. Wasn't enuf for me... I then drilled out all 3 and really like them now.
  3. Just means I go to bed later and wake up later.
  4. Canadian Tire sells NGK which is what you want and they will have the plug part number in their system ( it's DPR8EA-9 for the standard plug and DPR8EIX-9 for the premium) and no, you don't have to remove the tank but frankly, it's easier and it doesn't take a lot to remove it. Also Iridium plugs is what I use... DPR8EIX-9
  5. This is Friday... that's too complicated for my brain today. Ask me again on Monday (not next Monday, one of the one's 10 years from now) hey, you asked....

    send help

a slice of bread is on it's way ... sorry, I consumed the rest yesterday when we experienced the same panic. (hope you don't mind the end crust)
  7. no problemo ... I can see where one might assume that.
  8. we've all been mentioning it... Carbon One http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1586/cat/7
  9. Initially I bought some steel " U " channel and fabricated a frame but even it wasn't as stable as the CarbonOne lift adapter. hmmmmm... maybe my fabrication expertise isn't so great...??? in any event, CarbonOne's adapter has, for me, been well worth the money. 2 x 4's ??.... personally I just wouldn't feel comfortable with that.
  10. The GREATEST part ... where you haven't been yet.
  11. Same here and so did my '87 sometimes but it wasn't as bad as the '85. I had the '85 for 6 summers and it was always there... never got worse or better.
  12. Honda Moly 60 I believe.
  13. ...or... if the front wheel comes up and you aren't even moving yet .....
  14. I'm guessing you have the "non-electrical" type of water temp gauge in the bike whereas in your car it is probably an electrical sensor which would explain why it starts showing a temp change quicker. Yes, let your bike run for 10 or more minutes...it won't hurt it. The fan will come on when it gets hot enuf. If you followed the instructions for installing the temp sensor, it should be into the coolant sufficiently and yes, it does go into the inside plug hole. I may be wrong on this but these temp gauges are operated by transmitting the temp of the coolant up a tube to the gauge. The gauge then calcs the temp based on what it is "at the gauge" rather than at the sensor (so to speak). So, that being the case, it can take longer for the gauge end of the tube to heat up sufficiently to cause the gauge to change. (that makes logical sense to me .... dunno if it's correct or not)
  15. Almost sounds like a faulty oil gauge. It shouldn't read anything until there is oil pressure. As for the temp gauge, what's been said is correct...it takes a while. I thought mine was on the fritz too ... they seem as if they "stick" if not used for a while.
  16. AWESOME!!! Congrats! I suspect that many of us here, including myself more times than I care to remember know what you've been through and what you're feeling right now. Good On Ya! All the best in the days ahead! :thumbsup2: My son has just come through the roughest days of his life ... no work for over a year, debt piling up, health problems...the list goes on... and this coming Monday he starts a new job .... he's ecstatic! It's a time when a person can once again see some light at the end of the tunnel and oh how great that feels. Thank God for family and friends!
  17. IF ... we do make this trip, we will be leaving Vancouver, BC on Sep 4th, returning at home on Sep 20, back to work on the 21st. Initial plan is to visit the Grand Canyon and other "touristy" places along the way, maybe Las Vegas too, prior to Durango on the 13th. It currently hinges on whether or not Nina can get the time off work.
  18. Just thought I'd give this a bump for all those who are new or haven't seen it.
  19. Yep... it's happenin alright .... and I now eat my words in another thread .... we had ... ahh ... uhhhhh... chomp chomp .... aarrrggghhhh... SNOW This morning ... yep, big, white, wet flakes of the stuff ... covered the lawns, rooftops, vehicles, and left lots of slushy mess on the street. Didn't stay long but it was visible. Rainy, cool, windy days ahead for a couple days at least. Old man winter just HAD to let us know it ain't quite spring yet!
  20. geeeez... mine hasn't done that and I thought I was cranking it on... guess there's more to these bikes than I thought.... gonna hafta try this .... so what is really happenin by the sounds of it is ... if the oil light (aka power indicator) doesn't come on, you're not crankin it hard enuf...
  21. The reason is twofold.... Firstly, not all the "standard" baskets whine. Secondly, not all the I baskets DON'T whine.
  22. I just did a search for it... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41093&highlight=venture+west there might be other threads...not sure.
  23. Shamue ... great info... I did some "looking" around on Google maps and that route would certainly be of interest. ... thanks
