  1. I heard back from the owner and according to him, the frame is not bent. I believe that to be true considering the kind of damage sustained. I've offered him $200 due to the fact that visible damage can be concealing and may actually be much worse once a person gets into the repair process ... so we'll see what his response is.
  2. I don't know if it's "stupidity" or a false sense of security. People get into a vehicle and think they're invincible and the bigger the vehicle, the more invincible and protected they think they are and with seat belts, and a dozen air bags... "nothing can happen to me" attitude... they don't give a chit about anyone else. Normally meek people become aggressive monsters once inside their cage. It's a sad, sad state and it's not getting any better. Was chatting with a couple of co-workers who were born and raised in other countries, one being India and we were talking about the drivers and traffic there. You think it's bad here??? HA! ... but one of the problems I see is that these people immigrate to our country and bring their crazy driving habits with them. No wonder it's getting worse around here. Anybody can read a book, answer a few questions, and pass a simple road test but that doesn't correct those bad driving habits one iota. And then they teach their young...
  3. Certain models of DVD burners have this problem. I would return it to the store where you bought it and get a different brand.

  5. Lots of folks swear by Amsoil. I tried it last year (before the I basket when I had the whine) ... made the whole engine sound noisier...not sure if the whine was worse or not. I'm now using Rotella T 15w40. The engine is the quietest that it's ever been and I'm quite happy with it now... to me it sound like it should sound.
  6. yep, I used to use Zonealarm years ago and about 6 month's ago I decided to install it on my son's computer after rebuilding it due to a bad virus. Zonealarm caused lots of problems...dumped it real quick.
  7. Same law came into effect here in BC, Canada Jan 1st. I finish work about 15 minutes ahead of my wife so I sit in my truck and wait for her. To amuse myself, I watch the drivers passing by and count the one's using a cell phone. Surprisingly, there aren't that many...anymore. I never did this before the law passed but it sure seemed to me that there were a lot more back then.
  8. IIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :thumbsup2:
  9. Thanks buddy
  10. Dang... I wish Harbor Freight was in Canada ... anyone know what's involved to import one of these trailers? I've searched all over and nobody "up here" sells anything similar or even just the proper sized frame & wheels that a guy could bolt a car-top carrier to (which is essentially what that Harbor Freight trailer is)
  11. WOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOO!!! :thumbsup2: You might want to consider adding a bit of MotorKote to your oil just for that added "wear-in" of the gearset.
  12. It would be interesting to find out what Yamaha does with the old fairing shell.... too bad a guy couldn't keep it huh? Maybe find out when the warranty rep comes around and then go check their garbage bin that evening or the next day...
  13. I'd think Lutz (Squeeze) would be more than happy to "bang back" a few pints on your behalf ... now whether or not he'd be in any shape to ship the bottles is another question.... :rotf:
  14. Both Norton and McAfee AV programs are hacker targets ... they've figgured out ways to disable them and then their virus apps can do their thing. The problem then becomes a major PITA to rectify. I've had more than one experience dealing with this on past client computer systems. Because of that, I will no longer use either program. Strangely enuf tho, we run Norton (Symantec Corporate Edition) AV on the environment here at work and it continues to do it's job without any problem. It is here only because we have a long-term corporate subscription which was in place before I took over the role of Network Admin. Having said that, we do have a very good firewall that includes Anti-spyware | Malware | Gateway AV | and Content Filtering so a lot of stuff doesn't even make it to the inside for Norton to deal with it. Even with all of that tho, we've had 3 viruses get through by users email but Norton did catch one of them and the other two didn't cause a lot of problem and was relatively easy to clean. Once our subscription runs out, I will be removing Norton and installing something different ... haven't totally decided which yet... possibly Kasperski.
  15. Been using AVG for years ... always worked fine for me. Switched to Avast about 6 month's ago just to "test-drive" it coz several folks here gave it good ratings .... seems to be doing fine. I also run Spybot S&D
  16. I would use silicone spray.
  17. I haven't encountered this but if it were me, I'd go the JB Weld route. I'd guess it's a "press-fit" anyway so the JB Weld would just ensure it stayed in there.
  18. We don't have Harbour Freight in this part of the world.
  19. Unfortunately, needs some "cosmetic" work ... maybe more? http://preview.autotrader.ca/used_cars_Motorcycle_details/Vernon_British%2bColumbia_2008_VICTORY_VISION%2bPREMIUM_1007470.html?srcID=5&frnID=7277754&ms=motorcycles_atvs&cofid=CT2005113122235580&prv=British+Columbia&r=9
  20. With that "notion", the stealers must love you....
  21. It's the same concept as "measure twice, cut once"
  22. The majority of the bike shops around here are closed Sunday & Monday with the exception of the Harley dealers which are open 7 days a week.
  23. Having your own carb balancer, regardless of what it cost (even up to $200) is well worth the investment IMHO if you plan on sticking with a multi-carb scoot for any length of time. I bought mine last winter as a Christmas gift to myself (LOL) ... can't believe I have gone so long without one...shoulda bought it many years ago.
  24. SilvrT
