1. WOW! is all I can say ... after 8,000 miles and still showing sufficient filings to have to change it... just seems a bit "odd" to me. Well, if anything, you guys have now got me wonderin how closely I did look or for that matter, what amount of filing "dust" is my acceptable level. Since I just did mine, I'll let it slide for at least mid - late summer and then change it again and pay more attention to what is attached to the drain plug magnet.
2. I should revise the above... it wasn't the first time the diff oil was changed... it was done at the 1000 km service before I got the scoot and that's probably why there didn't seem to be much in the way of metal particles when I did it at 20,000
3. Good point and I'm not disagreeing but doesn't really speak to "necessity" which seems to be what's being promoted. I've only had 2 new vehicles in my life (not counting the scoot) ... don't recall any necessity to have the diff oil changed in such a short time. Changing it within the first 1000 km's would seem a "necessity" to drain out those particles but after that, ....... at every oil change? ... more particles?.... I just can't see it as a necessity. A personal choice...yes.
4. OK, dumb question coming but first, I don't recall seeing much metal particles at all when I first changed my diff oil @ 20,000 kms andI did look. The "dumb" question then is... why would it be more necessary to change the diff oil so often in a motorcycle when it isn't in a vehicle?
5. The original post sounds more like something George Carlin would write...
6. I just can't imagine someone with feet that big... :rotf:
7. Cold Weather: Pullover hoody Frank Thomas jacket with removable liner Thermal long underpants Ski pants gloves boots Warm Weather: light shirt Frank Thomas jacket with liner removed jeans gloves boots HOT Weather: T-shirt or similar with long sleeves jeans fingerless gloves shoes
8. aren't those the parts yer s'posta have left over after yer all done? Actually, that looks like the clips that the bottom edge of the chrome trim hooks onto... I think? What are the part names? EDIT: I checked the parts screen and yes, those are the clips and the whole assembly screws into the front lower windshield mounting holes (if I'm recalling correctly) The clips face downwards I believe.
9. heh ... as long as I can get the beer into it before Nina fills it with groceries LOL I found out that it is an older model of the following.... http://www.honkytrailer.com/LilDonk.html
10. here ya go..
11. so is this one of those "I'll show you mine if you show me your's" deals? :rotf: OK, ok ... I'll post some pics...jeeez the things a guy has to do to appease folks... But it won't be until this evening when I get home so you'll just have to wait...
12. The pics were in the ad but I'll post em all once I've finished re-doing the trailer.
13. The bars are stock 1" and since I bought the bike, I've added 1.5" risers. Stock bar height was just too uncomfortable. Not sure if these bars would fit on your scoot.
14. Personally, I can't imagine what it would be like to have whiskers so bad to have to have a major shave every day or even more than once a day. When I did have hair, it was fine and sparse on my face and a quick run with an electric razor every day was all I needed. Now, since I got the alopecia about 10+ years ago, I can go almost a week without shaving (heh sorry guys). I do use the Gilette Mach 3 tho and do agree that the blade cartridge quality is dropping while the price is climbing.
15. yep, got the whole thing disassembled / stripped and already prepped the cracked areas for fiberglassing. Box is off the frame...checked / measured the frame over half a dozen times .... nothing is bent or twisted; however, I did find where whoever built the thing messed up in measuring/mounting the bar that holds the outer sides of the chrome bottom light bar. Not critical and can't be seen so no biggie. As for Nina filling it with shopping stuff ... ain't gonna happen ... I mean, it will be too full of beer and ice!!! Yep, no doubt I'll have it finished by the time we come to Nelson but that's too quick of a run for bringing the trailer ... thought we'd go to Venture West 2010 in Durango but that has changed due to some other expenses I have to deal with. But, we will be taking a holiday in Sep and we will be towing the trailer / camping ... plans now are to make our way towards Biggar, SK where Nina's mom lives so if you're not gone to Durango, we may hook up then too.
16. Thanks for the suggestion ... been there, done that LOL As for the "Fix it in a can" .... will that work instead of Cialis? :sign20:
17. thanks ... was my intent to do all of that ... yes, 8 inch although appearances can be deceiving, I haven't found anything worse than what was visible and I think this thing just flipped and skidded down the road as opposed to rolling several times. But I will be measuring and checking/packing the bearings. I've already got all the crap liner out, lights removed, chrome top rails removed, am and working on removing the piano hinge. Next will be unbolting the box from the frame so I can check it and clean it all up. Lotsa fun!!! as Nina said... I needed a project LOL
18. Thanks buddy ... I think??
19. well just in case it doesn't, I bought a new tube of Shoe-Goo ...
20. heh ... ya just can't pass up an opportunity for a "dig" can ya? :p so what's the score now??? are you ahead or am I? ... must be you !
21. and here's another "different" one...
22. And I just got one for $350 that got dumped ... fiberglas work on my horizon!
23. You boys in the good old US of A seem to either forget or just don't know that ya'll can get stuff that we can't, and do a whole lot more for a whole lot less "down south" than us Canucks can. I've looked all over and nobody I could find sells a similar frame and a similar car top carrier (less capacity and not a snice) alone is $200 plus taxes of 12% up here. I think I will have as much of a trailer in this one than the one in the link above. Heck, it doesn't weigh more than 150 lbs or so...maybe less coz the wife and I unloaded it from the truck. As for it's size... the pics are very deceiving... Overall length = 90" Width (tire to tire) = 40" Width of box = 30" Length of box = 48" Depth of box (to lid seam) = 18" Overall height = 39" Capacity = appx 18 cu ft (inclusive of lid) a little less that the one you show but this one has space (and a rack) for a cooler. Not so... it wasn't his rig originally, it was an insurance writeoff that he bought. He is a VW bug builder (hobby) and he'd planned on re-doing the 3 wheeler. The trailer just came with it as a package deal. The guy is an RCMP member and very nice family man. I checked the trailer out and it's not all that bad ... $200 max to repair I figgure. The thing even has 2 spares that mount underneath...all in good shape. Anyhoo, it's now sitting in my garage. I'll keep a log of costs and take some progress pics and post an update when completed. In any event, I'm happy (at least at this point LOL). Thanks guys for the advice tho... I do appreciate it and ya'll.
24. Guy got back to me ... he'll "let it go" for $350 so I think I'll make the trip and check it out. Crap, just realized it'll cost me $100 just for gas LOL
