1. yep
2. Don't think so, plugs are showing black so it's been running rich. Battery was dead. Gas didn't smell bad. It's an '03 with about 55k km's. thanks
3. Mine will be black, just like the scoot ... but I will be dressing it up some with chrome and some fake carbon fiber, similar to what I did on the scoot. I'll be doing base coat / clear coat and don't expect it to take quite as long as yours... I'll probably do 2 or 3 coats of clear ... let it dry, wet sand that down and a final coat.
4. Hauled daughter's boyfriend's VTX1300 over to my "shop" today. Hasn't been run much for a couple years so am going to service it, get it running, clean it all up and make it purr and look purdy. Anyone know where I can get an electonic copy of a maintenance manual for it? Where the heck is the oil filter on these thangs? (I haven't looked too hard...prolly right in front of my eyes)
5. Fiberglassing all done, a bit of bondo, sanding, some primer, some glazing putty ... all ready for the final sanding/primer coat... then it's painting time... which won't be any time soon unless the weather smarten's up. 6. Everyone around here slows down just to see what's going on... then it creates the "freight train" effect and before long, traffic has come to a standstill.
7. here's a pic of a "G" basket ...
8. it's a built-in "excessive speed" detector ... had one on my '87 too. Yamaha thinks of everything yanno...
9. Must be more wrong with your scoot than a slipping clutch if you can't keep up with a Harley... :rotf:
10. oh no... here we go again... bobbyduck.. you just had to open the door, didntcha?
11. and according to another thread, it probably has a lot of Harley components....
12. Why would they be disappearing when there is 11 years production of the same bike??
13. Should be "incident-free" around here... doesn't look like the weather will be too favourable for riding. BTW... most get 3 days off this long weekend ... some, like me, get FOUR but it really sukz when ya can't go ridin
14. According to another thread, it may have some Harley components ...
15. hey man, you did what I've wanted to do many times... and may still yet. I hesitate because, many, many years ago a guy was tailgating me and once he wasn't paying attention and had to slam on his brakes to avoid rear-ending me. I pulled over and let him pass... then I followed him home, parked the scoot on the street by his driveway and proceeded to chew him out... before I knew it, he was out of his vehicle and nailed me with a fist sammich ... of course a fight ensued but he was bigger and stronger and I got the worst of it ... I've never forgotten that incident .... hope he got the message at least.
16. Very interesting... looks great! Exactly what is the tire size??

18. WOW! is all I can say ... after 8,000 miles and still showing sufficient filings to have to change it... just seems a bit "odd" to me. Well, if anything, you guys have now got me wonderin how closely I did look or for that matter, what amount of filing "dust" is my acceptable level. Since I just did mine, I'll let it slide for at least mid - late summer and then change it again and pay more attention to what is attached to the drain plug magnet.
19. I should revise the above... it wasn't the first time the diff oil was changed... it was done at the 1000 km service before I got the scoot and that's probably why there didn't seem to be much in the way of metal particles when I did it at 20,000
20. Good point and I'm not disagreeing but doesn't really speak to "necessity" which seems to be what's being promoted. I've only had 2 new vehicles in my life (not counting the scoot) ... don't recall any necessity to have the diff oil changed in such a short time. Changing it within the first 1000 km's would seem a "necessity" to drain out those particles but after that, ....... at every oil change? ... more particles?.... I just can't see it as a necessity. A personal choice...yes.
21. OK, dumb question coming but first, I don't recall seeing much metal particles at all when I first changed my diff oil @ 20,000 kms andI did look. The "dumb" question then is... why would it be more necessary to change the diff oil so often in a motorcycle when it isn't in a vehicle?
22. The original post sounds more like something George Carlin would write...
23. I just can't imagine someone with feet that big... :rotf:
