  1. is that your 'stinky' opinion? :stickpoke:
  2. I like that new toy ... here's mine....
  3. Don't know what it's like at dealers south of the border but around here, you walk into any "metric" bike dealer (Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, etc) and mostly all you see are sport bikes, dirt bikes, multi-terrain bikes, with a small spattering of cruisers and maybe a touring class bike (not sport touring, there's lot's of those). Also you will see a good selection of ATVs and now out comes the snow machines. Victory and Indian shops also have a ton of ATVs and snow machines, etc but the dealer here has a very good selection of both the Victory and Indian line. Harley, BMW, and maybe Triumph are about the only ones not displaying product other than motorcycles although that depends on who is selling BMW and Triumph. Point being, Yamaha is not going to focus their attention on low volume sellers (product line) in a market that is already dominated by Harley, Victory, Indian, BMW, Honda, and Kawasaki (the only one's selling full-blown touring bikes) ya, I know, I might have missed one or two yada yada... Sport bikes, Sport Touring, Dirt, Cruiser, ATVs, Snow machines ... THAT is Yamaha's focus, not to mention their water sports lines. (just my $0.05)
  4. Can y'all not READ???
  5. jeeeez Doug .... now you gotta go out and buy a duplicate library of cassette tapes .... Great Find! My vote is to sell the '07 and no, I'm not interested LOL
  6. while it is September, nobody said when in September ... we still have 17 days left ......
  7. These "alt" codes are known as the extended character set .... characters beyond ASCII 128 if my memory serves me correctly and yes, they can differ depending on what font you are using. Codes from 32 to 127 are what you have on your keyboard. http://www.ascii-code.com/ S - code 83 i - code 105 l - code 108 v - code 118 r - code 114 T - code 84 SilvrT alt 83, alt 105, alt 108, alt 118, alt 114, alt 84
  8. I've often thought the same thing ... think I even mentioned it at one time .
  9. yup ... I look at Kijiji, craigslist, autotrader, used.ca, etc ... any place that lists used RVs thru a google search ... even as far away as Quebec (but ya can't read the ads LOL)
  10. Agreed !
  11. Thanks for the info Gary. Most of the MH I've seen advertised (year range 1995-2003) are in the $15000 - $25000 price range and many of them have been well maintained and upgraded. Most have around 100k kilometers +/- . There's actually several for sale around here. In any event, all the info I'm gleaning here will be valuable when it comes time to plop down the money .... that won't happen until at least next summer.
  12. thanks for the info Kerry. I'm not so sure I could "live" in a smaller rig and touring the country for an extended period requires living in it for that long. I think we'll be looking closely at a 30+ class A although I'm not completely ruling out a class C. ya, diesel sounds good but all the things I've read do point to expensive repair and maintenance. Looking closely at the Ford V10 as a power choice.
  13. Watched the 3rd part tonight... quite enjoyed it. I did notice a couple things that seemed odd .... the steering wheel on the car was on the right. The "engineer" didn't know how to use a file properly.
  14. watched the 2nd part last night ... very interesting and keeps your attention (at least for me).
  15. Looking for some advice from those of you who either have or have had either a class A or C motor home. Eventually both of us will retire (possibly as early as next July) and we're planning on buying a used M/H, hooking an enclosed trailer onto the back with our Roady inside and touring the country for a year or so. Looking for info on what to buy, what's good/not good, things to look out for, GM V8 - Ford V8 - V10 - or diesel ... any info at all would be appreciated as I know zilch about these things. Prefer a class A but open to consider class C. We're thinking mid to late 1990's or even early 2000's and our budget tops out at $20k CAD. I've been scouting the 'net and there's quite a few available in that price range, some with under 100k kms even.
  16. I think mine is due in Dec. Hopefully the exchange rate will improve by then coz $16 is pushing the limit ........... JUST KIDDING !!!
  17. Now THAT is one way of explainin to the warden ...
  18. yep, that's why I can afford such things as a 5 million dollar house, a Porsche, weekly get togethers at the yacht club with the boys, and an island in the Bahamas. The fact is Canadians have less disposable income than their US counterparts. One of the things affecting that is simply the topic of this thread.
  19. I happened upon a rider today from New West (that's what we call it around here). He was riding a pristine 1984 Venture Royale (a Blondie). He's been on this site but only occasionally, not sure if he's a paid member. He was getting gas and we chatted a bit and when he fired that bike up it purred better than new. Couldn't help drooling over it as it sure brought back memories of my '85 and '87 ... two of the best bikes I've owned aside from the XCT. Didn't catch his name but I expect I'll run into him again one day seeing as we live so close.
  20. I always used the choke when bike is cold.
  21. The RSV headlight was using technology from the 60's headlights (well, maybe not quite that far back) .... what's on the XCT is today's technology so that's a 'no-brainer'. (I'm sure I'll get blasted for that LOL)
  22. I had 2 of those mounted inside the fairing of my XCT. Not long before I sold it, I replaced the headlight with an LED. I'd considered that for my Roady but opted for the LED instead. Simple plug 'n play and nothing else to mount, no wires to route, and at 30w on low beam it's fine. With the driving lights I installed, and that I almost never ride at night, high beam practically never gets used.
  23. All true and good info with the exception of (30W for low beam); however, where does one mount an HID ballast on a Royal Star ... or any bike without a fairing? This is one of the reason's I went with the LED ... I could not envision a decent place to mount the ballast of the HID.
  24. CONGRATS !!! Well deserved I'm sure! My wife Nina's last day of work is today and as of tomorrow, she's officially retired! Unfortunately, nobody is giving her a truck... or a car .... not even a motorcycle! However, they are giving her (for the both of us) a weekend getaway at a resort up the coast of BC.
  25. Only in Canader ... EH !!
