I would have taken a picture of it and gone over their heads. A few years back Home Depot had a Drill Press on sale and the sale tag said it also included the Vise (that thing you set on the plate to hold a small piece). Even had a picture showing it. So I bought it. Got home, unpacked it .... no vise!! Went back to the store, asked a clerk about it, he got the manager (meanwhile I took a pic on my cell of the display ad). They phoned somewhere and then said that was wrong, it did not include a vise, and immediately took down the sign. I said well, too bad, I have a pic of that ad and you need to honor it. ABout 2 weeks later I got my vise shipped from the manufacturer to my door!

I remember those days! I started in the IT biz in 1987 as a software instructor. I was making $31/hr plus expenses on contract then and yes, it's been downhill since. Today I'm getting $27.50/hr but in 1993 I was only making $18/hr doing the same thing so it's been a bit of a roller coaster. I spent most of my money on wimmen, booze, and vehicles... the rest I wasted on frivolous stuff ...

Not necessarily ... the more money a person makes, the more taxes they pay ... depending on what tax bracket that wage increase puts them. One might actually wind up in a smaller boat!

Mine must be an "oddball" coz my belt is on the left.

Neither can I Jack ....

There comes a time when a guy has to hang up his spurs and move on to other things. It's a tough decision to make ... or come to that realization. For me it was a gradual realization that hopping on the bike and taking off to wherever just wasn't "my thing" anymore. I sold the Victory in July. Probably didn't put more than 1,000 kilometers on it this year. Rode the Road Star maybe 3 times all this year and probably haven't put more than 2,000 kms on it since I got it a year and a half ago. It's now looking for a new owner. Retiring next July. Nina and I are buying a 5th wheel and hitting the road for a couple years. After that ... who knows. All the best to ya Jack!

hmmmm... guess I'm not old then LOL

Do that nowadays and you're pegged as a pervert and in danger of being incarcerated for sexual harassment.

haha ... and I hate it when I see an old person ..... and then I find out I'm older!

I beg to differ on it being unique to America (assuming you associate America with USA)... Thanksgiving Day (Jour de l'action de grâce) is an annual Canadian holiday, occurring on the second Monday in October, which celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Thanksgiving has been officially celebrated as an annual holiday in Canada since November 6, 1879, when parliament passed a law designating a national day of thanksgiving.[1] The date, however, was not fixed and moved earlier and later in the year, though it was commonly the third Monday in October.[1] On January 31, 1957, the Governor General of Canada issued a proclamation stating: "A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October More about this .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving_(Canada)

Thats GREAT! congrats! Retirement was something I never thought about until maybe 5 years ago and for me, it's now only a few months away (July 1 2017). For several years I've dreamed of an extended trip across Canada and all over the USA ... on a motorcycle. Well that dream died last year when I realized I just couldn't physically handle it. So, now that I know when I'm retiring, we've decided to become full-time RVers ... at least for a couple years. Gonna sell off the house and much of the stuff we own, buy a 5th wheel RV (already got the truck to haul it) and HIT THE ROAD! Can hardly wait!

OMG !!! that's like ... hilare

no worries M8T .. speak as you choose ... it's not about you, it's a "me thing" and sometimes I just have to rant LOL

You and I are the same age; however, we grew up in somewhat different worlds ... not sure about you but it was north-eastern Canada for me. Hippies were not a part of my lifestyle back then. Valley Girls? never heard of it.

The use of "like" in every day conversation ... totally ridiculous if you ask me. For example... "I'm like... WOW, that's rad" or "he was like... freakin out" or "it was like ... super fast" ... get my point? Must be a "millenial" thing coz folks I know in my generation don't speak like that. (note the appropriate use of the word "like") To be with the times I suppose I could have typed "Must be a "millenial" thing coz like folks I know in my generation don't speak like that. " Sorry ... off-topic and I'm ranting ... couldn't help myself.
-
You are correct ... if only that was a possibility. Since it isn't, then you cut the part that all that "crap" is associated with ... the employee.
-
Good Grief !!! I hear it verbally every day but to see it in print today is a first !!! " like " as in ... I'm like .... blah blah

I think I've still got one that's older LOL ... of course, I don't use it ... not even sure if a person could still use it.

I honestly don't believe it has anything to do with greed. Businesses have to make a certain profit margin to be worthwhile and that is getting more and more difficult to do. Cutting costs and streamlining an operation while staying competitive is the only option. What is the one thing that is easiest to reduce and costs a business the most? STAFF. :stirthepot:

They installed those kiosks at the McD's down the street from where I work about a month ago. They have 4 of them. It took maybe 2 weeks of having a couple regular staff members assisting customers in the use of them. Now, even though there still is a bit of a lineup at the till, many folks are using the kiosk including me. It's pretty simple to use and it has totally stream lined the mele` and confusion that used to be there. Do I see less staff? NO. What I do see is much faster service and considerably more orderly.

There are those out there whose sole purpose in life is to stir up sh!t ... it's how they get their "jollies" (speaking with a "suitable for all ages" tongue) I generally disregard them and or put them on ignore.

It's so cold up here that we need it 3 days sooner.....

If all things go as planned we'll be travelling with our 5th wheel in tow from New Brunswick to Florida somewhere around mid - late September, 2017 Would like to travel through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Georgia. Want to stay away from the major cities as much as possible. Any route suggestions / great places to visit would be much appreciated. We're allowing up to a month or more travelling time, arriving in Florida somewhere maybe first part of November. Hopefully missing any bad fall weather such as early snow fall, hurricanes, tornados, etc Hope to hook up with some of the members here along the way. We hope to spend the least amount of time at campsites or RV parks ... prefer either boondocking it or Gov/Fed/Public lands camping. (hope that's not asking too much) http://www.rvforum.net/SMF_forum/Themes/default/images/icons/modify_inline.gif

Yup ... that's where I was ... for a while. Good site!

Yes you can. I did it on my '03 Wing. It's a bit tricky to do though as getting to the inside bolt is like working blind and there's very little room. Wish I could recall exactly how I did it other than it was a real PITA. There's info on the 'net for doing it as that's how I figured it out when I did mine.
