  1. heh... well, I ain't bored but dang... here I am ... again LOL!! going bye-bye now.... till the next time.
  2. yep... we see a situation from our point of view, not knowing what it is really all about... and jump to a conclusion ... (damn kid talking on his cell phone and not paying attention)... and we get mad. This is a good lesson ... thank you for a reality check!
  3. I do that with onion ... even though I like onion, my system doesn't. Unfortunately I really am allergic to them.... I get severe lower abdominal cramps and bloating.
  4. ahhhhhhhhh... well that explains it then. Don, you put in ten times more effort than anyone would expect and I doubt if we even have a clue what that effort entails. All the best to you and yours Don!
  5. Eat lots, drink lots, and have a safe and wonderful Christmas ya'll ... I'm outta here until next Wednesday (maybe sooner if I get bored lazing around the house LOL)
  6. Your nephew should have seen the obvious opportunity here and welcomed the gift ....
  7. Well thanks Yammer! I hope all the others here are so embracing... (although I've heard that friesman character can be trouble... )
  8. OMG!! that is hilarious... I will have to try that!
  9. yup... ain't that the truth!! My wife runs into these similar situations at Tim Horton's. She asks for an "everything bagel with breakfast ham" ... well, it's not listed as such on the till so they have no idea how to specify that and oftentimes the wife will get quite a surprise LOL
  10. I've noticed a "Welcome to the forum" pop up a few times for "new" members who have been here for a while already. Lone Eagle being the most recent. What's this about?
  11. heck, my work day is 11 hours long, every day, 5 days a week. I leave home at 6:30, drive to the Skytrain, get on it and snooze for 1/2 hour, get off and go have brekkie, read the paper, arrive at the office at 7:45, fire up the computer and come in here .... make a few posts, greet some of the staff as they arrive, make a few more posts, check my email, go for coffee and a smoke, come back to the puter, read the new posts here and respond.... have a snooze, go for another coffee and a smoke.... back here and read some more... lunch time comes and goes.... spend some more time reading and responding to posts.... more coffee breaks and snoozing ... leave work at 4:30, hop on the skytrain and snooze for another 1/2 hour to where I parked, sit and wait for Nina to arrive (snoozing while I do), she gets in the truck and we head home, arriving home @ 5:30 .... ELEVEN HOURS!!! :whistling: (life is tough for a workin man!!)
  12. Kids today!!! I gotta wonder sometimes. Went to McD's for lunch (as I usually do). The regular gals had the day off and they had a bunch of young folk manning the tills ... they weren't green at the job but... I asked for a Crispy Chicken wrap, no sauce (it comes as either Ranch or Spicey sauce). Kid says "will that be Ranch or Spicey?" ... I say "no sauce". He says "but, it has to be either Ranch or Spicey" ... I repeat ... "no, I don't want any sauce" ... he says "but I have to enter one or the other...which one will it be?" ... my response "take your pick coz once you remove the sauce it makes no difference". guess he couldn't fathom that one at all
  13. Well, as luck would have it when I went shopping for my "holiday cheer" last night, they had Sailor Jerry spiced rum ... so I bought some and didn't waste any time testing it! YUP.... good stuff!!
  14. somehow I just KNEW somebody would have a comeback and it doesn't surprise me it was YOU!
  15. I'm sure there will be varying opinions on this one but .... I'm very skeptical about these cholesterol tests and even more so as to the implications on a per-patient basis. I had a test done about 7 or 8 years ago and at that time the doc told me I should either start on some meds or go on a very strict diet otherwise if I didn't get my "bad" cholesterol count down, I was an extremely high-risk heart attack. I didn't do either although I do tend to eat better today than I did then but I still smoke, still drink my R&Cs, still eat red meat (probably not quite as much), etc, etc... Two years ago I was tested again and .... the cholesterol count is a bit better but not much .... but I ain't dead and although my energy and stamina isn't what it was 7-8 years ago I feel fine so I chalk that up to the ageing ... heck, I'm 65 come May, ... I'm not overweight, I can still do a full day's work in the yard, I have no obvious health problems .... could it be that most people have high cholesterol but those who are in danger are the one's with other health issues.... overweight, heart problems, etc, etc ...???
  16. yep... a small injection of a few thousand dollars can make a very big difference. As many of ya'll know, Nina and I were in a Campbells Soup commercial a couple years ago. It didn't make us rich by any means but it was almost like winning a nice sum on a lotto ticket.... and it sure helped us "move forward" on some things. .... now, we sure could use another injection! LOL We have a number of localized lotteries as well. Current one is http://millionairelottery.com/ ... since the proceeds go to a real good cause, I generally buy a ticket. The odds of winning something are very good but we haven't won anything .... yet ... but really, the cause is what is important.
  17. Good point... I'm long overdue for a checkup ... adding this to my New Year's resolution(s)!
  18. heh ... on the rare occasions that we see the sun around here, especially at this time of year, I'm generally sitting in my office and only know the sun is shining by the reflection on the building across the street LOL. I arrive at work in the dark and when I leave, it's dark ... this time of year. Thankfully we are going downhill now as the days are now starting to get longer. (or would that be uphill?)
  19. Thanks for posting this Don! I doubt I have a serious deficiency of vitamin D; however, considering that my energy levels just aren't what they used to be, that I don't get a good nights sleep on a regular basis, etc, etc ... it could well be that I need to start taking some vitamins, especially vitamin D. Gonna start today!
  20. In response to Marcarl's post .... Such a scenario would never happen to me because ... I have no "friends" outside of my immediate family. I have a lot of acquaintances .... but I don't hang out with any of them on a regular basis. So, my family, who are my real friends, will never go away and we are all very, very close. As for those once considered friends outside of my family.... ha! ... turns out they weren't real friends at all. In my entire life I've rarely had more than one or two close friends outside of my family. My last (so-called) friend of over 10 years dumped me over a stupid matter that, if he were a real friend, we'd still be friends and hanging out together like we always did. That was the last time I will ever put any trust in such a relationship ... I don't need those kind of "friends" in my life. I'll stick with casual acquaintances. I don't think I'm the only one who is this way but no doubt I'm in a minority but I'm fine with that.
  21. I smell nothing... NOTHING I tell ya!!!
  22. More specifically .... "avoided going down"
  23. count 'em up folks ... we are gaining on ya .... hey Rocket ... do I see a Wing in your future?
  24. ahhhhhhhh yes.... 'tis such a beast of beauty ... as it sits there being admired by all .... and they remember those glorious days of old when that beast WAS ridden...
  25. I don't know that it applies to the majority but True enuf, many are bust after a few years... but what do they spend it on and where? I figgure if there were more winners with smaller amounts, they'd be less inclined to blow it all away foolishly and spend more wisely... moreover, and I think most would be like myself, we'd share it with our family which means more people would have more money to spend but not so much that it would be spent foolishly which equates to more cash flowing into our local economy.
