  1. This is a little premature but have been thinking about this for a while so, figgured I'd throw it out here and see what kinda responses ya'll might come back with. When we retire (2-3 yr from now), unless we win a lotto, we will have to continue working, at least part time. We're thinking about wintering south of the border somewhere like Texas or Southern CA, etc ... returning to Canada for the summer. With our limited pension we figgure we could accomplish this by doing seasonal campground caretaking work which usually provides free camping and a small wage. No idea at this time if that is even possible or where to start looking for possible opportunities. Also open to other ideas, keeping in mind our limited budget and needs. We want to travel on the scoot with our tent trailer in tow and will probably live in it for the most part unless there is a better offering. Don't know how long we'd be able to do this...time will tell. Looking for your comments / suggestions / ideas ... On the other hand, if anyone wants to offer us a free place to stay.....
  2. I got mine at Home Depot. Dual bulbs and plug-in type electrical cord. Think I paid around $20 ... I have 3 of them in the single-car garage.
  3. Well ... if you'd left her alone once in a while... she might have...
  4. Now who would want to be there when we can bundle up in several layers of clothes and flick the frozen snot from our noses ... ????
  5. Different strokes for different folks. Having owned 2 1st gens and a 2nd gen, now a Wing, I would never go back to a Venture of either gen. If I ever did change, it would be to a Victory. This is not to say I did not like my Ventures while I had them, but it was always a "love/hate" situation with those bikes.
  6. Sorry... gotta challenge ya on that one my friend. That is a totally incorrect statement. 6 gal of gas above the frame versus 6 gal of gas below the frame is but one thing (among a few others) that totally changes that.
  7. Awesome video, especially the zoom lense as those places are a long way out before touch down.
  8. According to my wife, my sleep pattern is not good. I snore quite loud and often stop breathing. She feels I need some kind of "device" such as is discussed here. Frankly, I disagree. I feel I need an operation but.... here's why I don't get one... According to the doctor(s), there's nothing wrong with my nasal passages. About 35 years ago I got tired of never being able to breath through my nose. I'd been like that most of my life so, I went to the doc... they did all kinds of tests and x-rays... nothing wrong they said. In my mind, if I couldn't breathe thru my nose, there MUST be something wrong. Then I discovered Otrivin and WOW ... finally I could breathe. A few years later, I went to the doc again .... same stuff all over, and same response... there's nothing wrong. I did this 4 times over the last 35 years... I finally gave up and have been using Otrivin ever since. I use it appx 6 or 7 times in a day. Problem is, it only works for a couple hours so, sometime after I go to sleep, the Otrivin has worn off and I can't breathe thru my nose. By the time I wake up, I need a "fix" and within 15 minutes, I am fine. Some say the stuff is addictive but yanno what? ... I really don't give a crap coz it works for me... at least during the day. One of the other problems is I live in a very moist climate and probably have a bit of an allergy to all the damp and vegitation which contributes to my sinuses plugging up. I noticed when we were in Cody I hardly used the Otrivin and slept a lot better and wasn't so stuffed up when I woke up in the morning. Guess I should move ... wish I could!
  9. Never any problems. At work, we have a specialized Cisco email app that cannot be accessed by anything other than IE. Since Maxthon uses the IE engine, it works fine. We are a private contractor to the government and access their websites regularly and have special govn't web apps that we use. They all work in Maxthon.
  10. Over the years there have been a number of thread by folks regarding issues with their Web browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc etc) ... I don't think I've even once seen anyone post anything about Maxthon ... except myself. This leads me to wonder ... does anyone else on here use this web browser or am I the only one? http://www.maxthon.com/mx3/?v=3.3.1.2000 I have been using this browser since it first came out back in the late 90's. Then it was called MyIE. Of all the others I have tried and worked with, I always come back to Maxthon. It has some really great features and some of those features which are now available in IE, FireFox, etc were in Maxthon long before. Maxthon uses the same rendering engine that IE uses (Trident). If you haven't taken a look at it yet, check it out ... you might just find it a good (or maybe even great) alternative to what you are now using, especially if you've been having issues.

    IE 9

I've been using Maxthon since it came out back in the late 90's. It uses the same "engine" that IE uses. Never did like Firefox ... tried every version. As for IE 9, it's decent but it does lack some of the features in Maxthon.
  12. Wife bought me a PS3 for xmas and we gave our Xbox to the daughter and her hubby. I got the Xbox as a freebe with a Windows phone. Didn't care for it much especially because in order to get Netflix, you had to pay to sign up for Xbox Live. Screw that! We also bought the interactive camera and controller for the PS3. It came with Tiger Woods golf game. Also have Big Game hunter, a Quad off-road racing game, IL-2 Sturmovic, and some other game that the wife got with it which I haven't played. Curious how you like Red Dead Redemption???? I was thinking of getting it.
  13. I'm the reverse of that. I don't quite carry ALL of the stuff listed but I do have a fair amount of it. Good to discuss this though as it does cause a light bulb to turn on (like... hmmmm now there's one thing I didn't think about...)
  14. add to the above listS .... Kitchen Sink!!
  15. Heck, I've been here for over 5 years and I still don't understand .... is it really worth waiting for?
  16. I have always carried a well-stocked toolkit on my bike(s). Never once have I had to use them on my own scoot but I've saved a couple H H H H ardly riders butts. Even helped a Winger once (geeeez, hope that isn't some kinda "omen") LOL Correction .... back in 1976 when I had my '72 Bonneville ... I had to pull the tranny and fix it on the side of the road once ... or was it twice? can't remember ... that POS was always breaking down LOL
  17. I got that... but then where is all my camping gear gonna go ? :confused24:
  18. Glad you got it straightened out Gary .... funny tho how sometimes all the suggestions in the world aren't the right ones LOL!
  19. I'd like to know why it says (avoid ball-end wrenches) ???? Those are the best thing since sliced bread IMHO.
  20. We determine when it's too cold when a certain "stream" freezes before it hits the snow...
  21. I was able to find the yorkshire, NY addy and the Arcade addy yesterday... but today it says "there's something wrong ...blah blah blah"
  22. oh yeah... been there and done that .... 2 credit cards maxed out to the tune of appx 25,000 .... i was taking from one to pay the payment on the other and vice versa.... it's not a fun time .... the only "fraud" going on was me! My advice to everyone is, if ya can't pay cash, don't use the cc. If ya got the bucks in the bank, take advantage of the cc but make sure ya pay it off by the end of 30 days. DO NOT allow yourself to get behind the 8-ball!
  23. The 2 things I can se that may be incorrect is... 1. IMAP on the 1st screen. Generally this is SMTP 2. Authentication on the 2nd page. Generally not required for SMTP. Change these two settings and see what happens.
  24. When it's cold, I sit around and eat and watch TV .... working on the bike can wait for a warmer day ... it's much more enjoyable then.
  25. Yorkshire where...? New York? New Jersey? ??
