Just thought I'd rant a bit. I have a 2003 F350. The side mirrors are pretty good and they extend for towing a trailer. BUT ... 2008 & UP mirrors are FAR BETTER So, I found that there are 2008 style replacement mirros available. To buy them from amazon.ca (Canadian site) it would have cost me $425.96 CAD delivered to my home. To buy them from amazon.com (US site) I can get them for $264.58 CAD delivered to my shipping location in Blaine (a short 20 min drive) Why oh why do we Canucks have to pay so much more for these things in Canada is beyond me. One would think someone would clue into this because up here the motto is "buy Canadian and keep the money at home" ... if they put the damn prices of things at a point that would entice us to buy Canadian, more people would. Rant off.

Nina & I rode to Los Osos, CA via the Oregon/CA coast and then back thru Yosemite, Reno, etc on our '87 a few years back. Other than personal things like change of clothes, cold weather gear, rain gear, etc I always pack necessary tools, circuit tester, tire plug kit, extra fuses, etc .... AND ... a small container of brake fluid, a litre of oil, and a small tube of silicon sealant. Other than that, I've done several long distance trips solo and have always taken a spare helmet just in case some gorgeous babe wants to go for a ride ....

Why bother with the insurance co? Just keep driving it and fix it on your own. The UPS package is probably a cheque ... refuse it.

Once upon a time, there was a King who wanted to go fishing with his Queen. He called upon the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours. The weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain in the coming days. So the King went fishing with his wife, the Queen. On the way, he met a farmer on his donkey. Furious, the King returned to the palace and gave the order to fire the weatherman at once! Then he summoned the farmer and offered him the prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster. The farmer said, "Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtain my information from my donkey. If I see my donkey's ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain." So, the king hired the donkey. And so began the practice of hiring asses to work in the government, and occupy its highest and most influential positions ...

I remember when I moved from Alberta back to BC (was there for 8 years). I had a car, a truck, and a motorcycle in Alberta. I sold the truck and M/C when I moved. To insure the car in BC it cost me 3 times what I paid in Alberta for those 3 vehicles. At that time Alberta was totally private insurance ... no guvmint (as @camos would say ) insurance.

To add to this, one must also realize that not all things are covered, overcrowding in hospitals exist, and long waits for certain procedures are common.

Guys and gals, I'm looking for info regarding fall / winter weather conditions in Eastern USA. When does it usually start snowing in the following states.... Maine Vermont New Hampshire New York Pennsylvania Ohio Maryland Virginia Kentucky Tennessee Carolinas Needing to get some idea as to when to start heading south to Florida from Eastern Canada this fall so that we miss any inclement weather. I'm thinking we'd probably be ok if we departed New Brunswick, Canada, crossing into Maine around the beginning of October and worked our way south via most of those states, staying away from the coast and the larger cities. Plan to arrive in Florida destination near end of Oct.

Mine was a "blond" when I got it. Looked ok but as I started to dig into it I found all kinds of "cosmetic" issues. Trunk and bags were cracked, shrouds inside fairing were loose and rattling, engine cases were showing their age, etc. I spent a winter tearing it down and fixing and polishing everything ... and what you see above is the end result. Loved that bike but after about 4 years I was itching for a newer version so I bought an '06 Midnight. FWIW, I preferred the '87.

I don't even have a bike any more let alone a Venture. I must like y'all or something ... or maybe I'm addicted to this site (Don's fault for slipping some kinda e-drug into me lol) Anyhoo, paid my dues for another year!

Dang .. that looks almost identical to the '87 I had... Awesome bike it was.

Assuming you're speaking of electrical wire ... the gauge really depends on what you're wiring up. Some are adamant about soldering. I generally use crimp connections and there are some really good newer styles out nowadays that make for very good connections. Soldering of course is the best but I've never had any issues with crimped. That's my $0.05 ... not my advice.

Years ago I got into a big fight with my nephew's now ex-wife over disciplining their kids. She had been reading all these books that suggest one has to sit the child down and explain to them all the reason's why they should or should not do whatever and have a meaningful 2-way discussion with them about it and then the child would totally understand and behave or comply or whatever .... After observing this "tactic" between her and her 3 kids aged 2 to 10 and the result of it (which had no effect because either the kids didn't understand any of it or didn't care) ... I, as well as my nephew, tried to convince her that her "methods" were not working and suggested she use some "old school" tactics instead.... such as what I posted. She'd have nothing to do with that, we were wrong, and she and the books were right and that was that. The two of them fought over this for a long time. It had to be done her way and nothing else. End result ... it was a major factor in their separation and divorce. I haven't seen those kids who, BTW are all grown and have their own kids now, for many, many years so I have no idea how they turned out or how they go about child raising.

I learned years ago a sneaky way to get the dog to stop barking .... spray him with water whenever he does ... and it works, not only for that but other unwanted behaviors. Don't dare do that today ... animal rights activists and SPCA would be all over me no doubt LOL

We bought the trailer in Chilliwack ... that storage area was in Surrey/Langley area down around 200th and 36th ... after that incident we hauled it home and parked it overnight in our guest parking area. Next morning I started phoning around ... only place I could find to store it was...... Chilliwack! LOL So it's sitting there in a nice, graveled, secure compound for a nominal fee of $99/month (which, incidentally, was what the jerk with the cow pasture wanted to charge me). Reason I chose that place (the cow pasture one) was right next door is a large RV storage compound and looking at the address via Google maps, that's where I thought I was putting it. I now wonder how many others have been fooled by that!!

heh, I don't think my leveling jacks can adjust that much! @Kretz yup, we got stuck in it. That was the first day when we took delivery. We were taking it to a storage area but it turned out to be this wet, muddy field in some guys back property. NOT what I had envisioned. These are the things I grew up with ... I can almost picture in my mind a time when each one of them was said by either my mom, my aunt, or my grand mother LOL EVERY kid today should be taught this way IMHO. I especially like the one "Because I said so" ... simple, to the point, no discussion or argument. I think it instills respect.

His "front lawn" (or maybe it's his back lawn as I don't recall there was much of a front lawn) is a field that is not exactly level as I recall. (and I stand corrected lol) As for fields, one experience is one too many! LOL
