  1. When I first started riding street bikes.... legally ... was in 1969 and I was 22. It was a 1969 Yamaha twin 2-stroke that I bought new. I fried the engine twice while I had it. For some reason those bikes just weren't capable of hauling 2 adults down the freeway for any duration.
  2. I have no patience for people like that. Threaten me??? I double-dog dare ya. I got yer address buddy .... what hospital would you like the ambulance to take you to? LOL it must be Friday... I am feeling frisky
  3. CCing a lawyer (usually fictitious) is a typical scare tactic. If there was going to be any lawsuit the letter would either have been direct from his lawyer or it would have contained the appropriate court documents. The guy was bluffing IMO. That said, you may have excluded such details from your post but you did exactly what I would have done "told him to go ---- himself" except I wouldn't have offered to buy the bike back but I would have added "see you in court ... a--hole".
  4. They are all briefed on this stuff beforehand so the Judge can't make himself look clueless .... geeeesh do you really believe live shows are actually "that live" .... this is stuff on TV folks ... they can make it look like anything they want by the time we see it .... would love to see the "cutting room floor" on this stuff... SCENE: Judge Joe Brown is presented with the case.... he reads it over and asks ... "Venture .... since when did Harley make a model called Venture" Holy crap!!! .... ya can't allow that bleep to appear on national TV now can ya ....   (just funnin with yas)
  5. so, your wife is not sure if you're coming eh ?? .... I sure hope she makes up her mind and lets you...
  6. I believe the "Palomino" edition is legit however it appears maybe there has been some custom paintwork (murals) put on that one afterwards. http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Yamaha_XVZ1300 I doubt it sold new for that much tho.
  7. ... and those from the East as well.... Kruis'n The Kootenays regional rally is ON!! June 29 - July 2, 2012 in Nelson, BC We want to see you all there ... "the more the merrier" ... "there's power in numbers" .... and whatever other cliche` applies I will have a website up this weekend and will post the web addy URL in here... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65031 The site will include a form for registering, etc. Please add your name to the following thread if you think you can make it. This will assist us in planning coz we sure don't want to run out of food ... or have too much for that matter! (too much food???? nevah!) http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67021 Any questions, feel free to contact me or Brian
  8. That's been posted before but just as funny this time. What I like about jokes being posted is that I never have to remember them anymore (not saying that I can anyway, mind you). I can just come here, read them, have a good laff, and then forget them again LOL

    92 versus 89

Get a 2nd gen ... no need for a parts bike then...
  10. And don't forget to change the crush washer...
  11. I was gonna mention that but we can't let them have all the fun rides before they get to Nelson... LOL
  12. All 2nd gen's are Special Editions .... everybody knows that ... (the 1st genners just won't admit it tho)
  13. Should also mention that we do have members in the Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton area. Might be an idea to look them up.
  14. Remember the old 5 1/4 inch floppys? I had a customer who thought the slot in her computer was for a CD. She called me one day and said she couldn't get her CD to work and now it was stuck. Well, you guessed it. When I arrived there, the CD was jammed into the 5 1/4 floppy drive slot...
  15. The absolute best route from Kelowna to Nelson is via the Monashee Pass. You go to Vernon and then head towards Lumby. From Lumby you carry on to the Needles/Fauquier ferry and then up to Nakusp. From Nakusp, head south thru the Slocan valley until you meet up with the highway between Castlegar and Nelson... then hang a left and you're about 1/2 hr or so from Nelson. This will take you a nice full day's ride. If you wanted to break it up a bit, stay overnight at Nakusp. I'd recommend making this a 2-day trip so you can take your time and take in some of the neat things along the way.. like the Gold Panner cafe. The scenery aloong the way is fantastic and the roads are good. You will encounter lots of twisties as well as straight roads, narrow roads, nice wide highways. http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=Kelowna,+BC&daddr=Vernon,+BC+to:Nakusp,+BC+to:Nelson,+BC&hl=en&sll=51.003322,-118.204508&sspn=0.021091,0.03871&geocode=FdA6-QIdtaLg-CmzMMfjtox9UzH3xLTaPeX4Tg%3BFd3U_gIdD7_j-Cnj_NlG59h9UzGH6dGttuHUjw%3BFW6Z_gIdb3_6-CmvE4xw0HZ8UzHQOh1GoWHiVg%3BFfsy8wIdXD0C-SlxuGscH7R8UzHCvCAWhlQAbQ&oq=nelson&mra=ls&t=m&z=9 Google Monashee Pass for info. On the Fauquier side of the ferry, you MUST stop at the gas station/hamburger joint (forgot the name) .... amazing burgers. It's the first place on the right after exiting the ferry.
  16. yep... they're going alright..... way out of our reach! We rent ... it's all we can afford.
  17. yep, that's where I first came across this one ... About 10 years ago I was teaching a Windows course to a bunch of sawmill office workers. As they were all on a network, they had to have usernames and passwords. In addition, some of their other programs required a login with a password. I was elaborating a bit about the kinds of passwords you shouldn't use and, to consider using only one password for each of their logins to make it easier to remember. This one lady piped up and said she has 10 different passwords that she uses and has no trouble remembering them. I asked her how she managed to remember them all and her answer .... are you ready for this? .... she said "I keep them all on a sticky note which is stuck to my monitor" ...

  19. This is a true story from the WordPerfecthelpline. Needless to say, the help desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currentlysuing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause." Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect CustomerSupport employee with a caller: "Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?" "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." "What sort of trouble?" "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." "Went away?" "They disappeared." "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?" "Nothing." "Nothing?" "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type." "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" "How do I tell?" "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?" "What's a sea-prompt?" "Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?" "There isn't any cursor, I told you, it won't accept anything I type." "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" "What's a monitor?" "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" "I don't know." "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" "Yes, I think so." "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." ".......Yes, it is." "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?" "No." "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." ".......Okay, here it is." "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." "I can't reach." "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" "No." "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark." "Dark?" "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." "Well, turn on the office light then." "I can't." "No? Why not?" "Because there's a power outage." "A power... A power outage? Ah, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?" "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." "Really? Is it that bad?" "Yes, I'm afraid it is." "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."
  20. man... are you ever disillusioned ... :stickpoke:
  21. I'd buy the 2000 and use the 3500 difference for SAFETY CHROME !
  22. I've ridden Ultra Ltd, Roadglide, Heritage, Sportster ... Really like the Ultra Ltd. And, since I'm now riding a Wing, I can't possibly be Venture brain washed
  23. Doesn't the tranny sit in the oil ... at least partially? Does the tranny actually get lubricated by oil pressure? How could towing cause damage to the driveline/differential? ... it's much the same as a car. It seems to work fine when riding it... what's the difference towing? What about building a dolly similar to what a tow-truck operator would use that lifts the rear wheel off the gound.... then there is no "action" on the bike's components.
  24. What he said ... Go buy a cheap one first and test it to ensure it's not something else. You should be able to find one for under $10
