The first time I changed the oil on my RSMV, I could not easilly remove the filter so ... I drilled a hole thru it and stuck a screwdriver thru the hole and was able to twist the filter loose. In the meantime I had drained the oil into a pan which was below the bike. Put new filter on, filled the engine with oil, etc etc and then went to drain the old oil from the pan. This was a relatively new bike and this oil change was only the second one ... the PO had already done the 1st change at a dealer. To my horror, I found quite a lot of metal filings in the bottom of the drain pan. I was freaked!! ... thought I'd bought a screwed motorcycle ... I sweated over this for about 10 or 15 min ..... until I realized the metal filings came from me drilling the hole in the filter.... :rotfl:

Serious cornering questions tips for an experienced Rider
SilvrT replied to muaymendez1's topic in Safety and Education
I have to agree with this. "ride your own ride" ... even when you are with others. And don't let anyone put you down because of it. As you continue this way ... push yourself slightly beyond your comfort zone... not too much, just a little. Pay attention to what it feels like, what works, and what doesn't seem to work. You will eventually increase that comfort zone. And yes, take an advanced rider course. This will help immensly. -
heard it b'fore ... still hilarious and even more so since I have an appointment with a lawyer this afternoon LOL!!

Advice To All and Young Folk in Particular -NOT A JOKE
SilvrT replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
oh yea? that's what I thought at 28 years ... you just never know what the future holds ... until it gets here and bites you hard in the butt. My ex is after me for 50 grand. If she gets it, I am screwed for the rest of my life considering the age I am now (65) and the fact that I'm about 60 grand short of that. I'll spare ya'll the details for the time being but ya'll might be talkin to me behind bars some day as it will be a frozen day in hell before I pay her. All the best to you tho. -
Advice To All and Young Folk in Particular -NOT A JOKE

One good thing about my not having saved for retirement is ... at least "she" can't take what I don't have. -
We drive appx 5 miles twice a day, 5 days a week to and from the Skytrain (rapid transit) so it doesn't cost us much for gas for that. The transit cost is $49/month for each of us. All in all, our commuting costs are very inexpensive.

Due to a recent and somewhat unexpected situation, I find myself compelled to pass this advice on to all who may be interested. It is advice I give you based on personal experience. TAKE IT and live by it so you don't end up where I am today. First. Prepare for your future. Save for your retirement. Save it in such a way that NOBODY else can touch it. When you get to my age and you realize the impact this has on the rest of your life ... you will be so glad you took this advice. Second. DO NOT ever be "Mr Good Guy" in matters pertaining to an ex or soon to be ex-spouse. PROTECT YOURSELF legally and financially. TAKE CARE of YOUR INTERESTS. Let them worry about theirs. I say these things to you for your benefit. I wish someone had drilled them into my head when I was younger.

Room rates at the New Grand have been set. $90 Single $95 Double Book early to ensure you get a room and be sure to tell them that you're with the Venturerider rally!! PS... the front desk may not quote that rate but it will be adjusted when you check in.
-
I'm still waiting to hear back from the manager... I'll call him later today but when I talked to him last week he did say that the rates posted are last years rates and will definately change before prime season. I'll post an update once I get some new info.
-
heck, that's easy ... I just go outside and buy the answers from any immigrant....
-
If you plan to stay at the New Grand, pls ensure you tell them that you are with the Venturerider group when reserving your room(s).

Unfortunately there is only one sure-fire way to cure rustout and that is to cut the rusted area away and replace the panel. If you want to keep the vehicle, this is the only way. If you plan to get rid of it... even within a couple years, sandblast away as much as you can, fiberglass in the bigger holes and bondo everything. Use some wire mesh in those bigger holes for something to stick the fiberglass to.

Interesting ... Canada is not part of it ... that leads me to think that Rednecks only live in the USA ....
