  1. You might also want to check for a good seal at the joint where the muffler clamps to the pipe. If it's sucking any air, it could contribute to the backfiring. FWIW, I noticed a lot more "popping" going on when I installed the Road King as well as the Khromewerks mufflers on a decel but put the stockers back on and it ain't as noticeable. And that's even after syncing the carbs and plugging the AIS so, unless it's a real bad back fire and not just some popping, there may not really be anything wrong.
  2. Installing those or any other aftermarket mufflers "may" throw the carb sync out. It doesn't take much to re-sync them. Get yourself a carb sync tool (under $100) and do it yourself (takes max 15 min) or hook up with a member here that has one. Normally aftermarket mufflers don't require a re-jetting of the carbs. Another thing you might want to try is plugging the AIS system. There is info/instructions here on the site for that.
  3. uhh... I thought your name is Carl ? ... oh well, whatever ... send me your banking info Mike and I'll transfer the money to you immediately!
  4. The weatherman is saying the same for here in Vancouver. I sure hope he's right as I REALLY NEED to get rid of my PMS !!!
  5. Awesome Don!! As for me, I'm stuck about as far back as I was a year and a half ago ... and that equates to nowhere LOL ... but I still pick up the geetar and pretend once or twice a month. Maybe one day I will go take some lessons. My son did compliment me one day tho about a year ago ... we'd had a few drinks and he can play real good ... so I "did my thing" with the geetar and he says "geeez dad ... you've actually got some rhythm ... I was gettin worried about ya" hahahaha!!!
  6. Golf&Venture posted a good link ... check it out.
  7. Oh, and btw, the reason I am bald is from writing VB code... LOL!
  8. Oh jeez... I just read the rest of your msg... not so sure I could provide the info by your deadline.
  9. You can email me rlyerex@telus.net with your specifics and provide some sample of what you're doing and I will get back to you with the "how to" ... or at least I will take a look. I have written lots of code reading and writing to text files, data conversion, etc, etc
  10. I can also help (maybe) as I write code in it daily.
  11. The trucking co's insurance should pay up front, not hold you on the hook while they go after Goodyear or whoever. Can you imagine if all ins co's did that how many folks would wind up waiting forever to get anything. geeeesh!
  12. Quite a few years ago here in Vancouver there was a guy who would sit on the sidewalk downtown with his 2 pre-school kids panhandling ... at the end of the day they would go to the parking lot where his expensive car was parked and drive home to their expensive house. He got caught and was charged with something... don't recall what. I work downtown Vancouver and see many of the panhandlers and street bums regularly. They get nothing from me. Been approached more than once by the same person, with the same story, over a period of 4 years. "Escuse me mate but I just arrived here from Australia and while I was waiting for the bus to Whistler, all my belongings were stolen... can you lend me a couple bucks..." (in an Aussie voice). yeahsureright "MATE" ... Being exposed to this regularly tends to harden a person ... or maybe just learn that it's often a form of "scam".

    GROAN!

Obviously there was no "Canadian bacon" on that tree ....
  14. There you go.... one says it's better, another says it isn't .... it all boils down to individual preference and perception.
  15. Unless I'm mistaken, those reservoirs are aluminum ... Y/N? That being the case, a guy should be able to polish them up real nice ... almost like chrome! I did a bit of polishing on my levers and they came out a lot shinier.
  16. LOL Kerry ... and it was just a few weeks ago you were boasting about your temps being so much higher than over here. At least the weather is supposed to smarten up for this coming weekend and we may just get out for a nice day ride .... FINALLY!
  17. Interesting comment Dennis... Perhaps for yourself; however, my wife says the wind protection on the Wing is far better (for her) than it was on the Venture. Now, this could be due to her height. On the Wing she sits lower than on the RSV. As for myself, I also find it better on the Wing... but marginably.
  18. How tall is your lady? My wife is 5' 9" ... she was fine on the back of the '06 Venture but did notice a bit more wind buffeting than on the '87 Venture. Then I changed to a taller Clearview shield and the buffeting was almost gone. We did do several test rides on an Ultra but never really enough to get a good handle on wind buffeting although when asked about it she commented that it didn't seem to be a bother.
  19. FWIW I had some "alignment" issues for those bolts as well on my '87. I just opened the holes a bit with a round file. If I recall correctly also, it seemed to help getting those bolts started first before the others. Seems the angle that the bolt had to go in was not the same as the angle of the hole in the W/S.
  20. ya can't get rid of me that easilly Clive! But I do like warmer (and drier) weather. Winnipeg would probably be the LAST place I would ever move to though LOL
  21. ya.... it takes a special kinda moderator from up here in Can Nuh Duh to keep us Canuck scoundrels in check ... you wusses down south just don't have whut it takes .... (ooops... that could get me in trouble... ) Congrats Carl!!! now go kick some butt!! (no, not mine )
  22. Those are the kind of rides I like ... now if only we'd get some decent weather, we might get at least a one day ride in...
  23. Both Rick ... both LOL
  24. What do you mean??? ... The RSV / RSTD has changed considerably over the past 12 years ... or are you totally COLOR blind?
  25. Good choice ... I'll give ya that one
