  1. ahhh just c'mon up here Jack ... we've got more than our share of cool, wet weather. Heck, we've been hovering at 4-5 degrees celcius below seasonal norms almost all year. We had a 2 week stretch back in May where the sun shone every day and temps were at or above normal. Day in and day out of clouds, rain, and cool temps gets everybody into a miserable mood ... oh wait a min... don't come here... I sure don't want to see you in a miserable mood!
  2. Tommy Emmanuel ... there are several vids ... see ya in an hour or so! [ame] [/ame]
  3. I've had 2 1st gens, an '06 RSMV, and now a Wing. From my experience I've found that the frame mounted fairing is much better in windy conditions than the handle bar mount. That said, I've read others say the opposite LOL so I guess it's a matter of personal interpretation.
  4. For father's day, I would like to see my son (who's 43) meet a nice woman who's got her life together and has no baggage and settle down somewhere away from his current "neck of the woods". I'd prefer it to be this father's day and not some future one LOL
  5. The brackets will hold them in place... the clamps stop them from twisting and leaking. One of our members here rode all the way from here to Cody WY and back with loose clamps and worn rubbers where the brackets bold to the sub frame and never lost his mufflers. His mufflers wagged like a puppy dog's tail! LOL
  6. well, I like Elvis too but I also found it quite funny. I guess it's a matter of interpretation of the intent. What did bother me was that I couldn't understand most of it.
  7. It would seem to me (from what I've read) that the CT does not lend itself as well to an RSV as it does a Wing.
  8. In a pinch, that might work but I think if it were me I'd find a clamp that uses a bolt-nut tightening method and has a solid clamp body. But, give 'er a try anyway... ya can't lose much.
  9. Exactly .. and like a lot of other things folks post here ... just another piece of interesting information they felt worthy of sharing with this fine group.
  10. I don't see it as biased since he is making comparisons to his experience on both types of tires. To be biased would infer an unfair comparison, would it not? As for the "anti-darkside" articles, the ones I have seen are biased because, in none of them did the writer(s) have sufficient or any real experience on a CT. In fact, until there is an "official" reason "why not" then no matter who is talking be it for or against, it is still opinion. Someone with an opinion who has no experience is, therefore, in my opinion biased.

  13. Just did a youtube search for ABS plastic welding .... here's one, there's several others [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8rTwWRYb0c]Motorcycle Fairing Repair - ABS Plastic Welding - YouTube[/ame]
  14. There's a vid somewhere that demonstrates or shows how a guy repaired some bike parts by welding the plastic and embedding small lengths of wire across the breaks for added strength. It was very interesting. Dunno where that is but I'm sure some searching either here or Youtube will find it.
  15. Only use a product that is designed for ABS. There are ABS 2-part epoxies out there. Plastex is also a good product http://www.plastex.net/ Fiberglass... while seemingly a usable fix, does not bond well with ABS. I would not recommend it. When I repaired my '87 (which had some serious cracks and breaks), I first welded everything with my soldering gun. Then, I applied a 2-part ABS epoxy, sanded it all smooth and primed/painted it. When I was doing the welding, I used some ABS material from ABS pipe scraps I had to fill in any small holes, etc and to build up the weld areas with material.
  16. Congrats on the new to you scoot. Here's the pump... http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/mini-gauge-pump/part/PS-GP-VARIOUS you want the 0-60 psi one.
  17. Seems to me we didn't hear about the 2012s until early spring this year...??? That being the case, 2013 news won't be until spring next year. (but I could be wrong... I was once before)

  20. well, they won't work on nose hairs but .......
  21. One of the things I've learned (and learned it the hard way) is to never rely on verbal statements. If it's not in writing, it has no foundation.
  22. It's never a waste of time for me coz I think I learn something new here every day. for example, I just learned that reading this forum is like reading Popular Mechanics ....
