  1. Feedback I'm getting off another site is $1000-$1500 I just don't want to insult the guy coz I figgure he thinks it's worth much more. Maybe I'll let it sit here for another year (or 2 lol) ... and then tell him he should give it to me for the value of storage LOL!
  2. Should also mention there's a fair amount of oxidization on the aluminum ... top of heads and other non-visible aluminum components under the tank.
  3. I've been "storing" the daughter's boyfriend's 2002 (or maybe it's 2003) VTX1300 for the past 3 years. Before that, it sat for a couple years in underground storage. I had it running 3 years ago but since then, not. Uncovered it yesterday and found that the gas tank was quite rusty inside, carb is all gummed up as well as the petcock. It's got rust on the spoke wheels and the buddy seat mounting bolts aren't original (somebody has been messing with this bike). There's a few scratches in the paint on the rear fender. It ran fine when I had it running. I'd changed the oil and spark plugs, put a new battery in it, fresh gas, and it fired right up and seemed to run fine driving it around the neighborhood ... (that was 3 years ago). Anyhoo ... I figgure it needs a fair amount of TLC to get it back into roadworthy condition. So, my question is, what do ya'll think it's worth as it sits? I'm contemplating buying it from him and fixing it up but I don't want to invest more than I can get back out of it.
  4. Don't use that thing on me ... I don't want to wind up in the ER ...
  5. Your's don't count (Trial Member) :stickpoke:
  6. I've tried a few "home-made" recipes but have found some really good "store-bought" ones over the past couple years so I don't even bother making my own BBQ sauce any more. That said, Sailor has a great "Rum Ribs" recipe. As for ribs, I use only back ribs. salt, pepper, and some nice pork rub. Then I layer them with bacon, double-wrap them in foil, place them bone-side down in a shallow baking tray which has a raised wire grill. Put some water into the baking tray. Then bake 45 min @ 350 ... turn down to 225-230 and bake for 4 hrs. Remove and let stand for 1/2 hr. Remove from foil, remove the bacon, baste ribs liberally with BBQ sauce and heat over BBQ grill. Can also broil in oven. Fall off the bone moist and yummy!!! Every summer we have a "Rib-Off" contest attended by family and a few close friends. Don't know why but I never seem to win (I think there's a conspiracy going on LOL) ... but I did cook the ribs for one of the friends once and they won so what does that tell ya LOL

  9. I had the wrong thread the first time I tried it. Tried again and this time using Google Chrome and I get the same message as the OP. Do not get it using IE. I've tried links to other threads and no message pops up. What is interesting is ... I checked each individual post of that thread in Chrome and no message. Then I went and copy/pasted the link from Google into Chrome again and it worked fine. I even closed Chrome beforehand. Then I went into Google on Chrome, found the link, clicked on it ... no message ... Just the thread.
  10. I agree!

  20. My wife liked the Venture comfort more than the Wing but she's gotten quite used to the Wing now and has no problem. I find I can ride a lot longer on the stock Wing seat than I could on the stock Venture seat. That said, my Venture didn't have the pillow top seat so that could be the difference and besides, I got no arse to speak of. Your passenger will find that she sits higher on the Venture seat than on the HD or Wing. My wife liked that because she could see over my head whereas on the Wing, she can't.
  21. hmmmmmmmmmm.... (I wonder how those would sound on my Wing?)
  22. Some folks will do just about anything to get their 1st gen to sound as good as a 2nd gen...
  23. There should not be a whole group of 30 bikes. It should be split up into smaller groups of 6 or so, separated by roughly 5 min. Everyone should know the route and the next stop. The entire group of 30 rejoin at the next stop.
