Very few upgrades from one OS version to another have gone smoothly. It's always best to do a clean install. Glad to hear you are now happy with Win10.

OK, what happened to @DragonRider ? I PM'd him that I have a WinXP CD and requesting his mailing address ....

Let's see... I think it will have an opposing 6 cyl water cooled, fuel injected engine. It will have a fixed fairing with headlights that turn with the handle bars. It will have a detachable trunk similar in design to the Indian Roadmaster. It will have large capacity saddlebags like the Victory XCT. It will have an air bag like the Goldwing. It will have a air adjustable pillowtop seat. It will have a voice activated HUD system that allows you to control virtually everything which includes a reverse facing camera so you can see yourself coming and going at the same time (mostly for us old farts coz sometimes we don't know which we're doing)...... yadda yadda yadda

Thanks Eck! I knew about freecampsites but did not know about ioverlander. Considering we are embarking on an 8 month RV camping trip, we'll certainly be looking for as many free places as we can find LOL Also, There is a huge amount of National Forest Service (NFS), BLM, Bureau of Reclamation, etc. managed land on which dispersed camping is allowed - this is "free" boondocking (no per-night fee). Just Google those locations.

FWIW for anyone reading .. While CaseyJ obviously hates Win10 for various reason's, as I said earlier, I've been running win10 since it came out and about a year ago (maybe less I can't recall) I had a hard drive crash which was after the free version was discontinued so I bought a copy of win10 and installed it on my new hard drive. I checked last night and I have not had a single update since. During the install, I did go through numerous settings and disable a lot of things. Yes, there are scheduled tasks in the Task Scheduler that Microsoft sets up and there's several in there that are worth disabling. Spend some time poking around in there as there are a lot of them. Also FWIW, the only thing I dislike about Win10 is in a domain environment, it doesn't work with Active Directory user profiles with Win Server 2012R2 or less ... you must upgrade your domain controller OS to a newer version which IMO is an underhanded method of Microsoft to force businesses into buying more software.

You haven't mentioned Task Scheduler. Have you done anything with it?

DITTO re: ccleaner. I've been using Win10 since it first came out for free. Wife runs it too. Zero issues. Keep in mind the recommended hardware before installing it.

DragonRider I may have some WinXP CDs at work. Will check tomorrow and let you know. One issue you will encounter with WinXP is you may not be able to run newer web browsers and as such, may not be able to view certain web sites.

How smooth is your venture?
SilvrT replied to Duderoy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All of the Ventures I've owned ran quite smooth. You could require balancing the carbs. Also, the gears are straight cut and some do tend to whrrrr or whine at certain rpms. My '85 was quite "whiney" between 2900 & 3100 rpm. My '87 was as quiet as a mouse. My '06 had the whine also. It's generally not the tranny though, it's the gears from the main output shaft of the engine and the clutch basket. -

I get it... now.....

What I read "between the lines" is that the Venture, much like the Harley, the Victory, and the Indian .... is a HOT ride! :stickpoke: -
that suggests a "dual sport touring" design.

I have a supplier of the "old style" gas cans that has an unlimited supply. Would be happy to take orders for y'all .... of course, there'd be a nominal fee on top of the price ....

My mother taught me many things and one of them is: the loose end should roll off the top. There are at least a four reason's for this... 1. It's easier to locate the loose edge. 2. you can fancy up the loose end by making various folds and they look better on the top. 3. If it's underneath then it's often against the cabinet or the wall which makes it awkward to grab onto. 4. If it's in a dispenser and underneath then it "bifolds" up against the bottom lip of the dispenser. Go to almost any hotel, motel, club, bar, you name it .... you will almost always find the loose end rolls off the top and in your motel/hotel room it will often be "fancy folded". Like you, if I find one that isn't, I generally change it coz that irks me to no end LOL EDIT: and there's a #5 ... if in a dispenser, one generally tears it off with an upward movement ... somewhat difficult to do if it's rolling off the bottom LOL

I ALWAYS put the sugar in before pouring the coffee .... saves extra stirring yanno! Do you clink the spoon on the edge of the cup to remove excess liquid before you set the spoon down or do you simply shake it off in the sink or neither of the above?
-
hahahahaha that's a good one Clive! FWIW, I'm a 'spinner' On a similar note, do you wash your arm pits before your private parts or t'other way 'round? (NEVERMIND ... we don't really wanna know!!)
-
Just hook up one of those "old-style Harley or Indian" shifters .. what did they call 'em? .. suicide shifter? You'd sure notice it if it started to fall off LOL here's one on a Honda...

Here's another one in Mission ... anyone checked it out? https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/mcy/6096808706.html

uhhhhh ... seems 5 years has caused you to forget some things......
-
sometimes it's best not to know their name ... then you can call her whatever applies to the situation ... ('course, we usually do anyway) lol
-
Looks good ... nice color too ... did it have the 2nd gear issue fixed?.

This little thing is amazing! I even put a thatching blade on it and took my lawn down to almost nothing without any problem. Point to note though ... mine requires a heavier duty extension cord than your every-day standard. I think the motor rating is 13 amp as compared to 12 or 10.

Gosh, I feel so left out of all the fun with my little 17" electric and a 400 sq ft lawn .... Don't know what I'm gonna do once we hit the road in our 5th wheel .... hmmmm maybe I'll come down and ride your mower for a while....

How about making Rides and Rallies as a Drop-down menu along side Quick Links or make it a Sub-Menu within Quick Links and then have each item as a link in there?
