1. I did the front fender using 3m pin-stripping tape ... wasn't happy with it because it's too easy to lift those pointed ends. For the rest of the bike, I sprayed with gold first, let that dry, then ran a 1/8 " masking strip along the existing masked edge, then sprayed with black.
2. Well, it is a WING so it always did fly heh ... I just got started :cool10:
3. Decided to add some "snazz" to the Wing ...
4. I first pulled this trailer fully loaded and it was no problem. Then I got a Leesur-Lite tent trailer and with a full load, I found both me and the bike had to really work at it going thru the mountains (which is about all we have around here). As well, parking lots and gas stations were a bit of a challenge LOL This is why I got the Wing.
5. I rode a 2012 last summer. There's a bit of a clunk from 1st to 2nd but after that, it was no different than my Wing or my RSV. The thing with these Victorys is you have to run them at a higher rpm to realize their power. Not like a Harley which has great low end torque. The Vic will seem like it's lugging if you crank it under about 2500 rpm in the upper gears (3rd up). When I first rode the Vic CCT back in 2009, I didn't like it because it seemed to "vibrate" a lot but the reason was, and I didn't know this at the time, is that I was cranking the throttle when the rpms were too low. When I rode the 2012, the salesman told me about that and so I kept the rpm above 2500 and was very impressed with the power it has. As for comfort, it fit me very well. The handling is supurb and I found it very nimble and easy to handle at low speeds. Running at 130 km/h in 6th gear was very smooth. If I had the bucks I would be riding one for sure.
6. I just did a search for "search trick site:venturerider.org" in both Google and DuckDuckgo This thread was at the top of the list in Google. Doesn't appear at all in DuckDuck Seems Duckduck doesn't index on thread Title ... it did; however, find a lot of threads with the words "Search" OR "trick" within the post body.
7. pls elaborate on which ones you're using and what you like about them.
8. oh do tell ...
9. I know we can use Google search from the search menu here but, here's another way... From the main Google search page you can type in " site:venturerider.org" For example, in Google, if I want to search for "levelling link", I would type in .... levelling link site:venturerider.org Produces about 304 results, all from this site.
10. "You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?" - Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry If it has Clint in it, I watch it... many times over LOL
11. "What we've got here is a failure to communicate" - Strother Martin in Cool Hand Luke. I never really appreciated that actor at first... until that movie.
12. Boudreaux, the smoothest-talking Cajun in the Louisiana National Guard, got called up to active duty. Boudreaux's first assignment was in a military induction center. Because he was a good talker, they assigned him the duty of advising new recruits about government benefits, especially the GI insurance to which they were entitled. The officer in charge soon noticed that Boudreaux was getting a 99% sign-up rate for the more expensive supplemental form of GI insurance. This was remarkable, because it cost these low-income recruits $30.00 per month for the higher coverage, compared to what the government was already providing at no charge. The officer decided he'd sit in the back of the room at the next briefing and observe Boudreaux's sales pitch. Boudreaux stood up before the latest group of inductees and said, "If you has da normal GI insurans an' you goes to Afghanistan an' gets youself killed, da govment' pays you benefishery $20,000. If you takes out da suppmental insurans, which cost you only t'irty dollars a munt, den da governmen' gots ta pay you benefishery $400,000! "Now," Boudreaux concluded, "which bunch of GIs you tink dey gonna send ta Afghanistan first?
13. yeah ... but I like to leave my "mark" .....
14. The first one I rode was, I think, a 2010 and it did seem to clunk when changing gears. Last summer I tried a 2012 and did a really good ride on it, by myself. It did seem to clunk between 1st and 2nd but after that, and once I figgured out how to "ride" it, from 2nd up it was fine. From demoing several different bikes over the years, I did not feel that it was any worse than anything else I'd ridden and better than some.
15. Oh Mary .... Do your peaches hang low? Do they woggle to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow? Can you throw them o'er your shoulder Like a bag that has a boulder? Do your peaches hang low?
16. You need to ride it differently. I thought the same the first time I rode it. Second time I experimented a bit ... found that if under 2500 (maybe a bit lower) rpm, it would kinda be "clunky" and that's because it was lugging ... especially once you got beyond 2nd gear and even more obvious in 5th or 6th. But you crank that thing anywhere from 3000rpm & up and it hauls a$$. They are not noted for having low-end power/torque like a Harley.
17. yup!
18. Now here is a sweet looking CCT for ya!! http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2013/01/15-anniversary-cross-country-tour-limited-edition-unveiled/
19. I snapped a couple shots of that Orange one with the Flame job .... thought ... "hmmmm similar color to my wing... would those flames look ok on it?" ... then I said NO! lol As for the Kaw Voyager, Nina and I rode one when they came out in '09 ... it had a lot of V-twin vibration under load and Nina had no room whatsoever. Now, for my money, if I were gonna buy something in a V-twin, I'd be going for the Victory CCT. Awesome bike!
20. Do I look impressed ?
