Carb Syncing
SilvrT replied to dwatson636's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Took a long time tho ... eh? -
If you just replaced the spring and the clutch was slipping before that, then you should have either ... a) removed all the plates and friction discs and scuffed them with emery b) replaced the friction discs while at same time scuffed the plates. Actually, this should have been done regardless if it was or wasn't slipping beforehand.

Carb Syncing
SilvrT replied to dwatson636's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I don't know about others with 1st gens but I had my '85 for 6 years and only sync'd the carbs twice and the second time it didn't need it. On the '87 I rode it for 3 years and never sync'd them. Now what's the difference between 1st and 2nd gen that folks, including myself, feel the need to sync the 2nd gen carbs so often??? -
Miles, whatever you been "injesting", I'm not so sure I want any ...

Be careful when downloading/installing these programs because some of them will also install a bunch of other crap that you might not want. I downloaded JetClean from CNET and if I hadn't been READING THE SCREEN PROMPTS ... I would have had a couple other unwanted crap put on my computer when all I really wanted was just the JetClean app. Always, ALWAYS, read the downloader/installer prompts and choose wisely.

Try booting in Safe mode and then uninstalling it. Also, look over this as apparently there is more to do than just "uninstalling" it. http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-coupon-companion-ads/

You could always get a pirated copy to "test drive" it .... (just sayin) Or, there is a trial version ....

Then you'd really have a "YamaHarley"

Retraining for civillian life is extremely intense and internet connectivity is strictly forbidden due to all the corrupted opportunities that exist as a civillian (as if Rocket has not been exposed to such things ) Ya ... where is he??? (hope he's ok)

One thing I've noticed on the eBay sites for these "CREE" lights is that they can't ship them outside the USA (to Canada for example).

You can't edit the HTML inside the program; however, when you "build" it, it creates all the html files for you. You can then edit them afterwards but you might not be able to bring those edits back into WebEasy's wysiwyg designer. It can import a web site but it's not necessarilly going to be able to import everything .... kind of a "trial and error" situation. I haven't thoroughly explored this feature. It's a good tool for initial designing ... then if you want to get into the "meat" of things and get real fancy (coz you have the knowledge to write html, php, java, vb, etc code) you can then do that. Yup, been there, done that more times than I can count. Been in the computer consulting/training/programming, etc biz since 1987. If I could have charged a fee for all the time I've spent researching and testing software apps to determine which would work best for my clients, I would be an extremely rich man today. Here's another app that you might want to look into (not sure of the cost)... Adobe Dreamweaver I've used this a few times to make changes to our intranet and you can switch between wysiwyg designer and html code no problem. It is; however, a "higher end" development environment and has a longer learning curve.

download and run both ccleaner and spybot S&D

Let's see.... I've had 1974 (I think) Honda 750-4 with fixed fairing '85 & 87 VR - fixed fairing '03 Wing - fixed fairing '06 RSMV - fork mount fairing (fixed = frame mount) I found the fork mount to be more susceptible to wind than any of the others. I have yet to experience any steering or control issue related to wind on my Wing. So, my experience tells me the frame mounted fairing is better.

Greg, here are two that I use... Web Easy Professional http://www.avanquest.com/USA/software/webeasy-professional-9-158529 I used this to create the Kruisn The Kootenays website (which has since been taken down as it was not happening this year) WebEasy generates html files when you choose to "Build" your web. You then either upload or publish them to your site. A really good text editor that I use is Notepad++ http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ I also use Real Studio a lot. http://www.realsoftware.com/realstudio/?lang=en I doubt you'd be interested in this; however, as it's a high-end development environment that requires advanced programming knowledge and it's not inexpensive ($600 for the Web edition). I don't do a lot of Web work but when I do, I like to be able to write code easily as well as connect to back end databases such as MySQL. I do quite a bit of database programming using Real Studio but most of that is non-web applications (desktop apps). Have used it for a couple of web-based database apps and found it one of the best to use for my needs and experience/familiarity. That is not to say there aren't others out there that are better. In years past I've used Front Page and even taught it when I was an instructor; however, the newer versions suck IMO. Oh, forgot to mention ... NetObjects Fusion http://netobjects.com/ I have the current version but have not created any "live" stuff in it... just experimented. I used to use it for live work about 10 years ago and liked the ease of use. It does have some nice features so maybe check it out.

Could you list some of the software you've tried. I have used a few myself and would be happy to put you onto them but I don't want to duplicate something you've found that you're not happy with.

That looks like a great flashlight ... according to the specs it has a much higher lumens rating. What it doesn't appear to have is the variable optical focus but what the heck ... is that worth $70 ??

Per charge I believe.

Are you opening links or new URLs within the same Tab or in a new Tab or browser window? If a new tab or window, there's nothing in that tab or window to go back to. The back button will only work if a new page is loaded in the same window.

Anyone got one of these? What's your take on it? http://cf2.supertorch.eu/en/index.php

While I have the rear wheel off . . .
SilvrT replied to allanj42's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've pulled the driveshaft on my '85 three times, on my '87 twice, on my '06 once, and on my VTX1300 once .... the above method has always worked for me. The VTX was the most difficult and I had to wiggle the u-joint with a screwdriver thru the boot to get the driveshaft in. Never had much problem with the others. -
