  1. If you're riding a 1st gen, that's normal .... or so I've been told!
  2. I'll teach you how when we come over ..
  3. Post up some pics for us Kerry! Coincidentally tomorrow (July 1st) is also day ONE of my retirement !! WHOOO HOOOOOOOOO!! We are gonna PARTAY tomorrow! :dancefool: :dancefool:
  4. Over the past 12 years I'd say I've visited the same Harley shop at least 3 times on average. sometimes to buy something, at least once each year to attend 'Demo Days', and other times just to drop in and see what's happening. Some of the sales guys and parts guys have been there from day one 12 years ago so I'm a familiar face to some of them. While I had my '06 RSMV they were always trying to get me to 'buy a real bike' .... Then I got my Victory and guess what .... all of a sudden I was invisible! Dunno what that implies but I sure find it interesting.
  5. Give the guy a chance ... this was only number one ... still has 9 to go
  6. Just be careful of who you include in that list !

We're booked into Devon Lions Campground, Aug 16 - 19 ... see you then!
  8. Dunno yet if I'll own another bike or not .. got to fulfill my current urge to live the RV life for a couple years. BUT, if I do get another scoot, the ST1300 is one I'll seriously look at. Am also considering a Can-am Spyder. As I've ridden the Harley EG Ultra several times at Harley demo days, I would also like to own one some day so .... we'll see what the future holds! Found this one .... got my mojo workin LOL https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/mcy/6144598686.html

I started collecting CPP (Canada Pension Plan) benefits when I was 62. Then at 65 my OAS (Old Age Security) kicked in. Same with my wife. (we are now 70) Between the two of us with that money we were able to pay off our mortgage as well as our 2013 Victory. To purchase our truck, the 5th wheel, and finance our trip plus leave sufficient funds to live on for the next 5 years we sold our house, most of our furniture, and our 2 motorcycles. We plan to do the "RV living" thing for a couple years before we decide to settle down again.

Some of you might not know this so ... July 16th we're hooking up our 5th wheel RV and heading off on an 8-9 month adVENTURE across Canada and down into the USA, returning back 'home' in April 2018. With that in mind, I'm sure I'll have lots to keep me busy and entertained. 5 more to go!!!
  11. To each their own. Some bikes simply don't take well to a car tire. On the other hand, some car tires work better than others. Air pressure is also of importance and plays a big part in a C/T's handling. I had a C/T on my '03 Wing and on my Victory and I can tell you from my experience that I could run the twisties as good or better as I could with the M/T, especially much better in the rain. But like I said, to each their own.

. . . working days until I'm RETIRED!!!! :dancefool: :dancefool: :dancefool:
  13. Throw a car tire on it and you'll never have problems in the rain.
  14. RE: RK mufflers Here's a link for some nice clamps ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royal-Star-Venture-Harley-Davidson-Muffler-VTwin-Clamps-/251006468295?hash=item3a7126c0c7:g:MXsAAOxyLNpSGIhO&vxp=mtr And here's a link for the brackets (see bottom of the page) http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/?action=article&cat_id=002009&id=253
  15. A common swap are the HD Road King mufflers which can be had for anywhere from free to $100. Do a search here for RK muffler or Road King as there as certain serial numbers on them that are preferred. There's also a link to brackets that you can either buy or make yourself (very easy) as well as clamp types that work well.
  16. Maybe I'm reading the above wrong but from what I've read, the oil cooler is mounted between the front down tubes of the frame.
  17. To be wrong is just not right ...
  18. You're a minority Now you're talking apples and oranges "longevity" and "performance" means different things to different people. Truth is, there are many air cooled V-twins running over 200k. What does performance mean to you? What's your actual experiance with this?
  19. :sign yeah that:
  20. I guess those engineers of bike engines that are air cooled and use oil coolers just figured sticking an oil cooler on a bike makes it look cool ... Ya, and those fins that are meant to disperse heat are nothing more than decorative extras .... Oh, and how many of you are really gonna ride that many miles on your scoot? Crikey mate ... I wouldn't even put that many miles on my car! And how many of you would buy a bike, any bike, that has over 200,000 miles on it and the engine has never been touched and expect to go riding off into the sunset worry free? (just sayin yanno)
  21. I believe you!
  22. :sign yeah that:
  23. Am I correct in understanding that a 1986 Venture Royale comes stock with the AM/FM/Cassette system? Or was that optional for the Royale? What about the CB? was that stock or optional?
  24. That's simple ... nobody has cassette tapes anymore ......
  25. I doubt I missed it but some things simply escape my memory these days .... like, is this thread about air cooled vs liquid cooled or was it something else.....
