  1. As soon as I saw the Windows 8 interface, which resembles the Windows phone I knew I would not like it and for that reason, I haven't even attempted to check it out. I totally dislike the direction Microsoft is going with their operating system. Unfortunately I am going to have to deal with it within a year (by June 2014) as we will be upgrading all our desktops and servers around then.... which is my job ... AARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH :bang head: :bang head:
  2. I always look forward to your responses Miles ... btw, hope your new "baby" is ok after the tip over. I know I'd be some PO'd if it happened to me.
  3. He's been doing this for years ... how do ya think he was able to buy that Ural ?
  4. WOW !!! you sure that's not 108100??? (the first 1 wouldn't show)
  5. So you were riding at 99 mph with one hand while taking a picture of your GPS with the other ???? :no-no-no::no-no-no:
  6. Helluva way to skirt a poaching conviction...
  7. This guy obviously does not know what he's doing. Hope ya didn't pay him. If not, I'd be taking it elsewhere.
  8. one should not apply a wax to fresh paint ... it should cure for a while first.
  9. Bob... you're talking about fish eye ... orange peel is caused commonly by the paint drying out before it hits the surface (plus several other possibilities). See this ... http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/visitor/s/trouble/PDSG_OrangePeel.html
  10. You can't buff out orange peel ... it has to be repainted, period (unless it's a very mild case and doesn't cover a large area). Get him to fix his screw-up properly and if then not satisfied ...
  11. ya, I haven't seen anything recently either ... maybe they dropped installing Linux ... but I do recall that being an option at some point.
  12. Why Not? Wouldn't it be better to know the answer than making a decision based on the unknown? If that was all that is holding you back from staying with the C/T ... I don't get it. What are those "matters of the mind" and "what ifs" other than the insurance issue ... c'mon ... spill it ... don't leave us wondering...
  13. I concur ... heck, even Wingers and Victory owners hang out here ... and since we never have any technical issues it must be something to do with the members ... we actually like each other (well, most of us do...)
  14. I believe Dell has been doing that for a few years now. Not sure if it was only on the PCs or both.
  15. One needs to do smoother shifts to prevent that...
  16. Unfortunately, Microsoft has me by the ***** so I'm stuck with Windows; however, I do "play" with Linux.
  17. I believe Windbender http://www.firecreekacc.com/ did extensive wind tunnel testing. The problem that causes the buffeting on the driver and passenger is a result of the low pressure zone caused by the air flow over the body and windshield. The low pressure zone then sucks the air back into the rider and passenger area ... causing the buffeting. If you don't have a Windbender but do have a shield with a vent, I think the vent does not let enough air in at the first or second notch to fully neutralize that low pressure zone. Flip it another notch or two and then you get too much air directly at you. On the Victory CCT, the opening at the bottom of the shield is of good size and then there is a lip that directs the air upwards. The effect is neutralizing the low pressure zone therefore no air passing over and around the shield and fairing gets sucked back into the rider and passenger area. Now, cutting the shield down means a change in the low pressure zone area which could result in less buffeting for the driver but not the passenger. (that's IMHO based on what I've read about this)
  18. This is how Microsoft got so big ... they keep changing things and promoting how much better it is ... and then ya have to get a new computer coz the old one won't run that "better" version worth a crap ... and 'round and 'round it goes ... they got us by the ***** and they know it! LOL
  19. My solution to the buffeting on my Wing was to trade it in for a Victory CCT ... no more buffeting. Reason is the windshield has an air vent at the bottom that neutrailzes the low pressure (dead zone). On the Wing as well as on the Venture, my ears would flap and my wife's sunglasses would bounce from the buffeting ... no more of that on the CCT.
  20. ahhhhhhhhh... so that's how they all wind up here ...
  21. yup ... and they come over here and drive the same friken way!
  22. Y'all can now take me off this list (until I get another one )
  23. Well, I can say it definitely is a different feel from the wing and the RSV and yes, it will take me a bit to get used to that different feel. I don't know what you mean about the mirror ... they are in about the same position as the RSV ... at least on mine they seem to be. Gearing is somewhat different than the RSV and I find that the clutch seems to have very little "friction zone" and it's taking me a bit to get used to that from a start in 1st; however, I did take off once in second and found that easier LOL. I haven't quite found that "sweet spot" for seating yet but the brake and shifter are adjustable (fore / aft) so I'm going to fiddle with that a bit. I do find the seat fairly comfortable though and a big plus is that Nina likes it even more than the one on the RSV, which she preferred over the Wing. Neither of us get anywhere near the wind buffeting we got on both the Wing and the RSV. Nina's biggest complaint has always been that her sunglasses (which are the kind that fit over regular glasses) would always be bouncing around from the wind ... not anymore she says. Hopefully we'll get another day ride or two in this weekend and get this puppy (and us) broken in some more. The Vic and v-twins are not for everyone, that's for sure. I've never had one before either but what the heck... a guy only lives once eh?
  24. oh... you talkin 'bout that "safety chrome" that supposedly makes 'em go faster?
