RE: Dutch ... we have all kinds of "foreign speaking" folk in this country and Dutch are quite common. That said, it's not so common to see Dutch / English business websites. We get quite a lot of compliments on the bike and often from folks who aren't riders. No, it's not been mistaken for a Harley... yet LOL but every Harley rider we come across are very complimentary and generally quite interested ... even had a couple of the "Angels" come over one day and ask questions and compliment. Most of those who are "not in the know" about bikes don't know about Victory tho and sometimes when I say they are made by Polaris, they relate that to snow machines and think it's Canadian ... (mistaken for Bombardier). We just returned home from another great "day ride" ... now just a tad under the 6000 km mark!! Economy is currently at 18.3 km/l or 51.7 mpg Imperial / 43 mpg US riding 2 up and varied speeds but generally around 115-125 km/h on the freeway and 90-115 on the secondary roads.

Congrats Don ... a very popular choice. Are we still allowed to bash Harleys? of course. Were I able to afford one, I'd have one but those maintenance costs were just too far out of my reach

Well, I'm at 5500+ km's now and the bike is feeling nicely broken in. It's smoothed out quite a lot since brand new. Tranny shifting has quieted down although it still clunks going into 1st... no biggie. It does produce quite a bit of heat and mostly just below the passenger's footboards. The cure for that is to remove the Catalytic converters (which I did) and that makes quite a difference. I've also added a Lloydz hi-flow air filter. Now that it's nicely broken in, I've been able to wind it up a few times and let me tell you.... these bikes are QUICK! Big test is coming in a couple weeks when we hook up the tent trailer and head off for holidays. Nobody mentioned Triumph ... could it be one of those? They have some pretty nice product these days.

hey Gordie ... glad you're not seriously hurt ... would be even gladder if you weren't hurt at all. Since you're heading out on the scoot tomorrow, those you meet along the way and see your bruised scoot will surely tire you out from telling them about your mishap. Ride safe my friend!

Road King slash cuts (non catalytic version). Not too loud but a better sound than stock. You can also drill out any of 3 baffles to vary the sound. You can get these anywhere from free to $100 depending where you find them. You have to adapt the rear mount with a custom bracket. Do a search here and you can find the spec for making the bracket ... it is very easy to do with a 2" wide length of 1/8 Aluminum.

The check engine light was coming on in my '05 Silverado (with only 72000 kms). It would come on for a few days and then not come on for a few days... eventually it just stayed on... then my gas gauge would stop working for a day or two and then it would work again.. finally it too stopped altogether. Turns out the gas gauge sending unit was faulty and that is what was causing the check engine light to come on. $700 later and a new fuel pump solved the problem ... they just don't make 'em simple like they used to!

Not sure if this qualifies for a "little known" thing about a 2nd gen but it is an observation... We just got back from a 3 day ride to various points in the BC interior. We saw 2 2nd gen Ventures, 6 Victories, about 10 or so Goldwings, a spattering of other brands and types, and more Harleys than you can imagine. Point being, there's not a lot of em around as we rarely see them on our travels and over the past month, not counting this past weekend, the ones we have seen belong to riders we know (two in total) and one used to be ours.

Do a search for vmax .... you will find all you need to know as several here have done it.

On a 2nd gen, EDIT: when IF you find you can't keep up with a 1st gen, you press the "passing" button and it gives you an extra boost of power so you can show up those 1st gen riders who's only "claim" to fame is their bikes are faster.

Might have been a mis print and should have been 87 ?? no compressors on 1999-2013 models.

get rid of that ridiculous ratcheting mechanism also known as a whatchamacallit .... useless POS I don't think I've ever seen where someone has adapted a small gas strut in place of that .... but seems to me to be an idea. Unfortunately I've long since disposed of my 2nd gen ... hmmmmm ... maybe I'll look into this on the Vic just for the halibut.

Forget the fingernails .... use a nylon putty spreader ... the kind you'd get for smearing bondo onto a vehicle. Also, you can use WD40 instead of goo-gone. 12 volt aux plug ... many "nubes" don't know it exists ... it's inside fairing, left side, down a ways (almost hidden).
