Out here on the west coast, we have West Coast Rolling Thunder. This is a charity run that ends at Riverside National Cemetery where there is a ceremony for the fallen veterans. My wife and I and our riding group like to participate each year.

Zzyzx I'm glad to hear that you are putting the pieces of your life back together again. Our prayers are with you. Do keep us informed of your plans on a new state to reside in.

This is terrible news. I hate to hear of this happening to one of our family. -
All you folks like George S and Zyzx thinkin' about coming down to southern California, don't forget beastwood is down here and knows local favorites such as highway 74, the Ortega Highway, and also scenic Santiago Canyon Road, which has a hangout called Cook's Corners, which ususally has a collection of the latest of everything plus some rare old bikes, and some custom work. And guess what, it's not in LA county, it's in a neighboring county, which has far lower population density. I'll look out for you folks, and maybe even find a hotdog around here.

I like the 395. It's a nice asphalt ribbon in surprisingly good condition. Starting from north to south, Bridgeport is a nice little spot to stop for lunch or gas. Bishop is a sweet little highway town that has Schatz's bakery for pastry and coffee. Best lodging there is the Creekside Inn. A little farther south is the city of Lone Pine, which has the Totem Cafe with a lot of pine log interior. Perhaps after you have seen your friend, stop over for a visit, we are about one hour from the Laguna Hills.

Puc, I wish you the best my friend. You are gonna' need those fingers to be working again so you can ride that Springer someday. Tell the doc to do his best work cause you are a "maestro of motos."

I just added a cassette adapter to my shopping list. I have a nice LG phone that would make a great MP3 player for the motorcycle. I don't want to use my GPS all the time just to use the sound system function. Thanks for the ideas guys.

My battery story is from the 1970's on a U.S. Army base in Germany. I was assigned to service a battery on a generator towed behind a 2 1/2 ton truck. Well, I did the box end wrench jammed up against the frame thing, and right away the wrench turned red hot then white hot. So I tell the Sarge, and decides to walk to the wash racks to get a big brush with a wooden handle. By the time he makes it back the battery case is bubbling up and down like the cake in the "Spanky and Our Gang" TV show with Alfalpha. Finally he knocks the wrench off and saves the day. The battery was still useable after that.

Thank you. A good time was had by all. We had a great California rain, 500 clouds and three drops. Can't wait for the next M & E. We are kind of mavericks out here, but I think its going to catch on.

I thought with the Canadians opting for Kruisin' the Kootenays and not venturing down to the US, the Venture West was a no-go. But, if there is still interest, I'm interested. I'm retiring from teaching in June, and September is okay for me.

You all have probably seen that one of the winners of the Power Ball lives in California. Would you believe the 7-Eleven store that sold the winning ticket is only one mile from my home. I got my tickets at the local donut shop, but the seven eleven is also nearby. Sorry guys and gals, I don't have the millions.

2015 riding season, what did you do for milage this year?
beastwood replied to Brake Pad's topic in Watering Hole
For me it totals 5,000 miles, of which 2,000 was for the Venture West rallye, and the rest local riding. I loved all of them. -

I was checking the member map today and looked at Sun Valley, Idaho. It seems to be centrally located on the western U.S. I've been there for skiing and it was beautiful. This may be a choice to consider for Venture West. The lodges and restaurants exist, scenery great, are our Idaho members active? Would this be a good choice?
