Ok the tank holds 5.9 US Gallons with reserve coming on in the 4.2 gallons used range. Some RSV's low level fuel light does not come on until after reserve is hit, so I would not rely on that as an indicator. Some folks run with the RSV on reserve all the time. This I don't recommend, but to each his own. There is about .4 gallons at the top that does not usually get filled up unless you take the time to do it slow or like others have said punch holes in the filler neck. So without the holes, you have roughly 5.5 gallons of gas and with reserve coming on at 4.3 for you then you have .8 gallons of usable gas left. Now find out what your mileage is and you can determine how far you can safely travel on reserve. As far as punching the holes in the filler neck, it's not hard to do but the tank should be full of fuel, get yourself an awl and hammer and knock a few holes in the filler neck. I thought it would be hard so I didn't do it for a long time. Actually the metal is soft and it isn't hard to do at all. Only fill the tank to the top if you plan on riding it for at least 10 miles before parking it, that way you run enough fuel off so that it won't leak out if the tank gets hot.

That is totally awesome, I only have one regret about this whole situation. Now the amount of pictures taken while riding at the meet and eats is going to be cut in half. Looks like it's going to be all on you pretty soon Mini!! Look forward to seeing her ride sometime. Congrats! SleeperHawk, you are about to enter a phase of your life that will absolutely scare you to death. I can't tell you how many times my heart jumped into my throat the first year Brandy started riding. If you thought your head was on a swivel now, just wait until she is riding with you. You will find yourself looking out for two. It's that instinct to protect what you love. It gets better as the years go by. I am very confident in Brandy's ability to handle herself now. I really cherish the times she doesn't feel like riding her bike and asks to ride with me. For 22 years she rode with her hands around my waist. You will miss her not being behind you.

Ok now I know why, ignore my other post Tim. BTW I'm gonna take to calling you MC as in MC Hammer. Hammer Time!!:rotf:
-
Why the name change Tim? Regulator, you can pretty much take what SledgeHammer says to the bank considering his background. I know Buzzard, we are best friends, I work with him so it shouldn't be hard to get a day and time set up for the transaction to take place. You are getting an immaculate bike. It has just about every chrome option you could put on an RSV and then some.

Well if you are buying the bike I think it is then you won't be in NC more than 2 hours anyway. Definitely have the Bill of Sale, but I doubt you will get pulled over in NC. When are you going to pick it up?
-
NC requires a temp tag on vehicles registered in NC. I would go to your local DMV and talk to them. Maybe they can give you something to get it home on, since you will be registering it in GA. I would imagine that the bill of sale would suffice as long as you had something from GA, and proof of insurance.

Don, What are the bells going for? BTW I got my patches they look awesome.

Innovations do happen in the MC industry or else there wouldn't be Elite III's, Avon Venoms, and Michilen Commanders. Eight years ago I couldn't find a mc tire that would last me 8,000 miles and now I am getting 20,000 out of my commander. Which by the way is the only tire I will put on my RSV. I have tried, dunlops, Bridgestone, Continental, Metzler, and Avon Venoms and none gave me the comfort, stickyness, and durability that the Commander does. When there are as many Motorcycles on the road as cars I imagine the prices would come down. When CD players first came out they cost thousands of dollars and now you can get one for ten bucks at the corner store.

A 1 1/16 inch wrench will fit on a 26mm nut with a little play, that doesn't make it safe to use and it will eventually round off the corners of the nut. So just because the tire mounted does not by any means mean that the bead is sealed correctly.

I don't know, I thought 20,000 miles out of a rear tire was pretty darn good. Considering it's on a drive wheel and is one of only 2 tires that stop a bike that weighs a half a ton with a rider on it.

Just curious as to how you think they are screwing us? Do you think they are price gouging? If so just exactly what do you think your life is worth? Is it worth it to save a few bucks? I go through 2 rear tires a year. A whopping $250.00 - $300.00. Heck I know people who spend more than that on cigarette's in one month, and those things Will Kill You. It's worth the piece of mind knowing that if God forbid something should happen to me while riding I don't have to worry about my insurance company not paying off because I had a car tire on my mc, leaving my family destitute. To each his own. Ride it like you stole it. And to the person who wrote that these bikes don't get far enough on their sides while riding to ride on the edge of a car tire has never ridden with the folks I have ridden with. Scraping floorboards happens more than you think.

Battery ... I think
SaltyDawg replied to dunvilsteev's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No tires, brake pads, and battery are not part of the 5 year warranty. Maniac that's a good bit of information to know. Thx -
I have had both and to be honest the Utopia is my preferred back rest for comfort and adjust ability, but can be a pain to install. Took me about 45 minutes. The Diamond R is a quality product and installs in a flash and you couldn't ask for better support from them. It just pushed me too far forward. I had to put my feet on my highway pegs and push back to bend it to a more comfortable position. After that I wasn't able to adjust it for riding with and without thick jackets. If you are looking to get one quick Diamond R is the way to go and unless you are a short person I would not recommend the Over Stuffed one. You have to look for ship dates at Utopia and that could be several weeks to a month.

Baker Air Wings on 2nd. Gen Venture
SaltyDawg replied to MickO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
SleeperHawk and Beer30 have them they would be able to answer that question better. I am not sure but I think they attach to the top of the crash bar and are designed to fit into the natural shape of the side of the shroud. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't interfere with the highway pegs. BTW I'm pretty sure you can find these around $150.00 if you look around. -
No need to get snippy. You claim facts, back them up. We all know the a car tire has a larger contact patch in a straight line, that has not been disputed. What is being disputed is that car tires are not designed to be ridden on their edges and therefore have less contact with the road. Less contact would mean a smaller contact patch when you need it most. One look at the GW picture and that proves your Flex fact to be in dispute. If car tires were designed to be ridden on their sides then how come race cars are set up with high camber for oval tracks? It's to keep that flat side down and more contact with the track.

I am sure glad you guys are Okay. I have to say that I am also glad to hear that it was not a design failure to your tire. At least those of us who use the Commanders can breath a sigh of relief. I know about road debris I hit a 10" bolt that went through the oil pan on my CB750 10 years ago. Ride Safe

Shoot fire why not put one on the front too. That way you may never have to change tires again. If it's safe for the back it must be safe for the front.

Baker Air Wings on 2nd. Gen Venture
SaltyDawg replied to MickO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I personally don't have them, but there are several people on this site that do. From all I have read they are sturdy and provide good protection and air flow. Yamaha also makes a similar product. I have seen these on bikes and they look good. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelscitemdetail/5/4/83/408/2008/1/4607/0/0/detail.aspx -
True, but from what I have read the MP3 audio goes across the BT signal in mono. It would drive me batty to hear music in only one ear.

wouldn't it be simpler to put a 2X4 under the side stand to set the bike upright?
