The Mic may be bad. To check it turn your IC all the way up and talk into the mic. It you don't hear anything then the mic is bad, if you do then your problems are more than likely in the CB unit itself.

This is what I have and it's great. I don't drink coffee, but I do drink a lot of tea and a McDonalds large tea fits in perfectly. You also can adjust the angle of the drink holder easy. It's a nice solid piece of chrome too. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=42&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=224&product_ID=24151

To be honest I don't know the answer, but I would think that the size wheel you want would be determined by how much weight you intend to carry. The 12 inch being able to support more weight. Again I don't know for sure it's just a WAG.

Congrats on your winnings. Luck seems to just drip off of some people but not me. I friend of mine stopped on his way home to get some gas and decided to get a scratch off ticket. Put it in his pocket and went on his merry way towards home. His wife called him and asked him to pick up something at the store on his way. So being the good husband he is he stopped and got what she wanted and decided to pick up another ticket at that store. Well, he got home and later that evening scratched off the tickets. The two tickets he bought were both $10,000.00 winners. What are the odds he would buy two tickets from two different stores within 3 miles from each other within 10 minutes and both would be big winners.

Are you getting anything when you turn the ignition on? Lights, dash, and radio? These things have problems with the ignition switch and with it sitting over the winter it's possible it corroded and is not making contact. There is a bypass procedure for the ignition switch that might help you out. I know it's a stupid question but it is in neutral isn't it? I have actually had my 99 show a neutral light with it in gear. It's happened sitting still and also while riding down the highway. It could be something as simple as an interlock switch. Pull the clutch in raise the kick stand and give it a try.

Frame Cracked Under Seat
SaltyDawg replied to DMooch's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It's possible that a previous owner who was rather large had the shock failure and didn't fix it . The continued bottoming out of the bike along with the heavy rider could put stress on those points. The reason I feel this is possible is that I am heavy and when my shock blew the bike bottomed out so hard a couple of times that it broke fillings out of my teeth. Not saying that is what happened, but it is one thought. -
My Rear Head Set Does Not Work
SaltyDawg replied to TESchoener's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Unless that is something new to the 08's I have never heard of that setting. -
I would check with your state LEO's to see if this is illegal. Most states outlaw spinning red/blue lights except for LEO's and emergency services.

My Rear Head Set Does Not Work

There are also connectors under the passenger seat that might not be making a good connection. Make sure the passenger audio is up like bmxn said. -
From what I have found on the web they look like pretty good trailers and for that price I don't think you could go wrong. Heck if I didn't already have a trailer I would seriously think about trying to get you to hook me up with one. LOL Here is the link I looked at them at. Is this what he is talking about? http://motorcycletrailer.com/RRjr1/

Good deal, glad to hear it.

I'm not sure what went wrong with the 2007 batch, but I have owned 2 99 RSV's and other than normal wear on tires, brake pads, and battery I have not had any problems that were not induced by something that was added to the bike after it left the factory. I take that back I had the dreaded shock failures but that has been taken care of with a progressive shock. I put 37,000 miles on my first one and have 67,000 miles on my current one and it still runs like a champ.

How does the radio sound over the external speakers? The wiring in the HS for the ear pieces is the same for IC and Radio so there is nothing wrong with the HS if you can hear the intercom. I don't mean any disrespect to you, but did you select the HS option? If you are hearing the sound coming out of the external speakers you won't hear it in the HS unless your IC is up and then it will be picked up in the mic. Which is not what you want. It's one or the other so you need to push the middle button on the audio control until you see Ext or HS, if you see Ext stop there and push the up down arrow until you see HS then press select. If you have the helmet on be sure to turn the volume down before selecting HS or it could be too loud. If this is not the problem, then I would assume there is a problem with the wiring coming off the radio. That I can't really help you with. Hope this helps you out.

Never thought of using a wet towel. Whenever I cook I alway have the lid for that specific pan at the ready just in case it's needed. Thankfully I have never had to use it for a fire. Good post.

Look at my earlier post and follow the link. That is the procedure for lubing the hub splines. You can do it yourself if you have a lift or you can print out the procedures and take it to your dealer to show him what you are talking about.

I have read up on this and they are considered a trike requiring the proper head gear. There are plans to make one with a bigger motor, heating, and ac. They are not cheap. Something like $30,000 euro or higher. I would love to have one of them though.

Once it's warmed up how does it idle? Is it running smooth or does it seem off? Like mentioned above your idle might just need to be turned up and that's easy to do. On the right side of the bike just under the tank is a knob. That is the idle adjust, clockwise increases rpm. BTW I don't think it's really a choke but more of an enricher. I don't think it actually chokes the air into the bike, but just adds more fuel so you don't have to hold the throttle. I'm pretty sure there are no butterfly valves like on most carbs. Of course I could be way off base here too. If I am, I have no doubt I will be corrected.

That is where I would start. Also you could put some dielectric grease on the bottom of the bulbs. If you don't already have it, most auto parts stores have it at the counter in small packets. Every time I buy a bulb they try and sell me a pack for a buck. They also sell it in small tubes.

That's the horn a lot of us have put on our bikes. Check with Carbon_one and see if he has any of his stainless steel brackets available. It makes the install go very easy. Fits right where the old horn is. They are very loud so don't test it in the garage or your ears will be ringing. Check out this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91&highlight=Stebel+Nautilus

I have not heard of anything sounding like what you are describing but they are known for a clicking sound coming from the rear end and that is usually the lack of grease on the hub splines. You might want the dealership to check that sound out for you. BTW if you have questions about the Second Gen, and by all means ask because you will more than likely get the answer, you will probably get a better response if you post it under the Second Gen Venture Tech Talk. Here is a tech article on how to grease the drive splines. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 Here is also a list of known problems with the RSV. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067

It isn't hard to recognize Hell's Angels, The Outlaws, or The Pagans. They wear their colors with pride and are prominently displayed on the back of their vests. Now to your story KingSizer, I would have flagged down that police officer. You did nothing wrong, and by not flagging down that officer you allowed an admitted drunk driver get away. I'm not going to get into the what if's, but too many people die from drunk drivers everyday. If for nothing more than to get rid of that worried feeling you were carrying around with you.
