I would never be bashful about wanting a rig to haul your pups or anything else you can fit onboard. My wife will no longer get on back of my GoldWing but she rides comfortably in the Champion Escort sidecar attached to my 03 Venture. We have a 16 lb Australian Terrier that tries to jump in the sidecar whenever the hood is raised. This combo is an extremely stable, comfortable and relaxing rig.

If you are looking at DMC mounts for a possible conversion I would recommend emailing Jay at DMC posing the question of mounting the light Ural car to your heavier class bike. For instance my RSV in paired with a Champion Escort sidecar. Car alone weighs in the 300 lb range. It makes for an incredibly stable, fun platform running empty or loaded with as much as you can fit onboard.

My brother found a CT for the rear of his 86 venture. I believe it was made for an antique car application. He mentioned having a difficult time installing it but got it on and used it for at least 1000 miles. He was looking at the tire last week and found the tread on one side of the tire / edge to center was badly worn.further inspection determined that the tire had slipped off the bead on one side but had not deflated!! He was running recommended pressure in the tire at the time. His first gen has a sidecar attached so no lean angles involved, but heavier loading for sure. He is going back to a motorcycle tire ! My recall of the exact miles may be a little off but results are what matter most. I have a little experience with a CT on an 03 wing, I installed a Michelin radial RF. It actually felt pretty good with little to no air. My 03 venture rig has radial CTs on the car and rear end, both cheap off brand tires that came with the rig, they seems to work fine.

I used that technique changing the rear tire on my 03 wing. I was past 60 at the time and it was a simple and quick way to change the tire with no help. After laying it down on blankets and pads in my garage I was confident I could do the same in a grassy area while on a trip if needed.

I finally ordered a new seal myself after getting tired of the oil drips below the flange when parked. Can't wait to see if there is a visible problem with seal since it never leaked prior to being pulled apart.

When you think you have the rear drive and shaft installed and before tire install or cap nuts are tight, rotate the drive by hand with bike in neutral, then click it in gear and try to rotate again, without starting bike I might add. This way you will confirm install is correct. I've noticed some members on this forum can do this project in their sleep, for me not so much the first go round!

Thanks for the tip on this product. Looks like they both use napha, propane and isobutane, with pledge using butane and PH using petroleum distillate. I used pledge a few years back on a gold wing with good results and was totally addicted to using plexus before that and only got clean because of the product cost. With these ingredients it's no wonder they remove bugs! What's amazing is they have nothing to do with being a wax. I've always wondered how they work so well on painted surfaces and plastic. The dollar store is close by so I will give the PowerHouse a try.

I am getting gear lube leakage at the axle tube flange/ 4 stud joint, after installing my vmax drive. Apparently the seal on the axle is supposed to stop oil from migrating into the axle tube. When I pulled the stock drive there was no oil leakage, however after changing it out I started noticing a leak. I can't see why oil should be allowed past the oil seal before the female axle coupler into the axle spline area since it is just a splined joint easily lubed with moly ( no rotational movement) may be a while before I take it back apart, more of a project with a sidecar attached. Anyway I would recommend looking at the seal closely and lube it before putting it together. Kind of hoping the leak will stop, not likely though.

I just went out in the garage and tried the method you used for reinstalling the driveshaft and it worked well for me. I had read about at least one person doing the install and missing the u joint so I shifted the tranny in and out of gear and turned the shaft by hand to confirm I had it right. My geared down rear drive from RMSport Max should arrive this week, then I will finish up this project and get back to my new retirement job of riding motorcycle in southern utah.

Sorry about the pics. He is in Minnesota and I am in Alaska. I think he signed up on this forum as scooter trash, perhaps a pm might get his attention. My bagger shield with 80 year old sister in talkeetna ak

My brother did cut his gen1 shield down and make a convertible shield with spacers, bolts and wing nuts. It is nowhere near the looks, quality or speed of conversion that my gen2 baggershield has, but it gets the job done.

Had a brand new yds3 back in the day, I want to say it was candy apple red and cost me 700 dollars. Had a lot of fun in the sun and made lifetime memories in the green mountains of Vermont with that bike. Standard riding gear was cut off jeans, sneakers and a tee shirt, that coupled with no training and little experience or supervision, sometimes wonder how I lived to ride 50 years!!!

I just bought a set of carbs for an 06 RSV as spares for my 03. I have a spare fuel pump also. I was wondering how to preserve all the spare parts in case they are needed. I'll be looking into the misting oil. Any other suggestions?

Been researching this myself and the issue seems to be that vmax rear diffs are not machined for a speed sensor, therefore the need to have your 10 tooth pinion gear swapped for the vmax 9 tooth gear, either by sending your diff in for a rebuild or direct exchange from sportmax. I need to do the swap on my sidecar rig to reduce clutch slip starting off and so i can pull 5 gear at the speed limit.

Baggershield Adjustable Windshield
Yamak replied to deepforkriver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Very pleased with my baggershield, very nice quality and fit, looks great on my rig and provides a lot of protection. Here is a pic of the only January ride I have ever done on a motorcycle. -
Congratulations on the new ride, I have been reading about the NC700 and it sure sounds good. Be great if you could stick around and report on what you like and don't like. No one will be complaining about the 70 mpg for sure! Enjoy your new bike.

My rig with the champion sidecar is as easy to drive as a car with power steering but way more fun. It does have the raked triple tree easy steer which makes this happen, and yes it is now a dedicated 3 wheel vehicle, no dropping the car and becoming a motorcycle. Push/ pull effect from the car is very minimal, you barely know you are making a slight correction. Mine also has the electric trim which with the mini toggle on the handlebar allows you to trim to neutral steering for crosswinds, road camber etc. when you add or subtract weight it is simple to adjust and neutralize for load change. Low speed u turns are very fun, being able to just crank on the handlebars and whip around is one of the plus maneuvers that offset not having a two wheel bike to lean in the corners. I actually like the ride and handling better than a friends goldwing champion trike.(solid axle) I do love the looks of the Hannigan side cars don't know from experience but they look like a great rigs. I would recommend watching the united sidecar classified adds. They often have beautiful complete rigs as well as separate cars, many at very reasonable prices and way below the cost of a trike. As others have mentioned you can always have both a rig and a bike. In retirement I plan to have both myself. Oh, when it is raining windy or cold my wife loves the convertable top!!!!

Info on the tool lists the vmax clutch, does it work on the venture as well? I'm not familiar with the vmax clutch so maybe someone could confirm the baskets are the same. I bought sky docs clutch kit and dicks I basket, now to get a tool that works. Thanks charlie

It takes more clutch slip than I like when starting out, and feels like down right clutch abuse starting on a grade fully loaded. 5th gear is about useless below 60, especially with any kind of head wind or hills. This year was my first year with the venture sidecar rig so I have held off making too many improvements while I decided if it was a keeper. Turns out it is a fantastic 3 wheel rig and the rear drive swap is at the top of my list, unless of course something else comes along first that I can't do without.

Temp this am of 28, saw 7 this weekend, roads are clear in wasilla area, no real snow yet and the next 10 days are forecast clear in this area. The studs will come in handy, my rsv/escort combo doesn't steer worth a darn on ice/ snow. Good luck on the journey.

Makes for an incredibly stable and fun to drive platform for a sidecar. Extreme comfort for the wife and dog and is a huge shopping cart with a motor.

The fact that you accept the blame is big, you will beat yourself up for a while but you also will improve as a rider. With a lifetime of riding behind me I have never forgotten my screw ups, even the 40 year old ones!!! Good job on both counts, you didn't crash and you know who screwed up. Thanks for the reminder .

I rode route 12 a few years back on a Connie before riding home to Alaska. I think it was the most dramatic, awe inspiring ride I have experienced on a motorcycle. Crossing the hogs back almost made me dizzy, I remember the wow, wow, wow I yelled in my helmet. It is a ride you want to have someone along to share the experience with. I will be retiring to that area soon so that I can return to riding all of southern Utah and beyond.
