It was nice meeting you & your wife, too. Glad you turned around & came back. Enjoyed our visit. I love riding 25 around the thumb. It's a beautiful ride.

I have an '05 Slingshot Yellow Chevy SSR. OLDYELR is my plate # & nick name for the SSR. It is also my name on the SSR forum, so decided to keep it for this forum.

I had Rick Butler do his "Butt Butler Seat Mod" on my bike last year, '04 Midnight Venture. Did a 2000 mile trip in 5 days just after I got it back. It was great! Just did a 312 mile ride yesterday and could have ridden another 2-300 with no problem. The best part is that he is a member and charges only $40 for driver seat. Think it's $70 for both driver & passenger? You can find him and pictures of his work in the classifides under supporting vendors, Rick Butler. Check him out!

I have an '04 Midnight RSV with 51,000+ miles on it. Purchased 2 years ago and have had no mechanical problems until about 3 weeks ago. I've taken 2 or 3 trips around 100 miles and sometime during the trip when I run up in 1st gear and shift into 2nd, the bike dies soon as I let the clutch out (Just like I hit the kill switch or the key was turned off .). Most of the time, if I shift back into 1st and let the clutch out, it fires right back up. Wednesday it happened again and this time it didn't fire back up when I dropped back to 1st. I shut the key off and turned it back on and it fired right back up. Any ideas? Had some maintenance done on it and my mechanic tried to get it to duplicate the probelem, but as I said, it might only happens once or twice in a 100 mile trip? The mechanic checked the kickstand switch, checked electrical problems throughout the bike and found no problems. He has a Royal Star himself and 25 years experience many on RSV's and has not heard of such a problem before. The bike runs great, otherwise, but am a little nervous about going any distance with it. My buddy and I are tentatively planning a week long trip in a couple weeks and for the first time, I'm not sure I trust the bike to go. Can anyone help with an idea?

Talk about vertically challenged, I'm 5' 10" with a 29" in inseam. I put a Baron lowering kit on the rear and had the dealer lower the front about an inch on my '04 Midnight RSV last spring. Heard all the horror stories about dragging pipes, foot rests etc., but have not drug anythiing yet. I put on about 7,000 mi last year, including a trip around north side of Lake Superior in Canada and back through the UP after lowering it. My bike is much easier for me to handle and I have not had any problems since lowering it. If you do, make sure you lower the front too! There are directions on this sight on how to do it. Having said that, I am not the kind of rider that wants to see how fast I can take a curve. If you are an aggressive rider, you may have issues? For myself, if I ever get a newer RSV, IT WILL BE LOWERED.

Thanks for the INFO. I found the map sight, but am not having any luck transferring it to my profile?

I've noticed many of the members have maps on their profile showing states and provinces they've ridden. I'd like to add that to mine but haven't been able to figure out how to do it.

Had mine done on my '04 RSV seat last spring. Did a 1900+ trip shortly after and it was great! Would recommend him to anyone. Much cheaper than a custom seat.

I bought my '04 Midnight RSV in May of 2011. Previous owner said tires had about 2000 miles on them and they are D404 WW's. The bike was dressed out with chrome to the hilt and the WW's look great on it. I've put 13,000+ miles on it since I've owned it, so the tires have 15,000+ miles on them. Need new tires next spring, but will probably get the 404's again as they are about the only WW's offered for our bikes. As for the windshield, I cut 4" off the original and look over the top. It is perfect for me. It is about nose high, if you run your finger back from the top of windshield. This was the same as my previous V-star 1100 Silverado stock shield. I cut it down because of rain and fog problems and this eliminates most of that. Plus, I always ride with a helmet usually full face.

I had a Throttle Rocker on my Vstar 1100. Then put on a set of Kuryakyn ISO-Grips. I purchased an aftermarket wrist pad much larger than Kuryakyn that fastens on the end between end cap and grip. It was very similar in shape and size to Throttle Rocker. When I bought my 04 MNV, which already had the ISO grips, I transferred the wrist pad to it. Love both and wouldn't be without one. As stated earlier, can relax your hand when CC is not an option. You do need to have it set right, and be careful when stopping as it can cause you to accelerate, if not paying attention. But as stated earlier, I wouldn't be without one!

I've used Seafoam in the bikes I've had including my Venture & my SSR for years. Never had a problem. Also was told by two different Auto Parts places Seafoam was the best.

Here's my '04 Midnight Venture.

Local dealer lowered my front end and I put a Baron kit on rear. Just got back Mon from a 1900 Mi trip atone north side of Lake Superior. Bike handled great and had no problem staging anything. Also have original kick stand with no problems so far.

I'll take: (1) 3 1/2" iron on, (1) 5 3/4" iron on, (1) 7" iron on & (1) 7" sew on. That's 4 in all.
