My laptop quit, I am on my cell trying to peck out this message. Surgery was four hours as other damage was found. A schleral buckle was installed, scar tissue cleaned up and a couple other things with big names were done. They retina was detached and the attempt to reattach has been done. Face is a bit swollen and some various colours have appeared. Now the healing stage begins , eye patch on . Doc says more surgurys to follow. Man it aches at the moment, but the other eye is enjoying babysitting two grandaughters today. Thanks to all

95% of all Harleys ever built are still on the road today...
mother replied to WCody's topic in Jokes and Humor
all of my cousins and my best bud all drive harleys, so i take a thrashing every time we go for a ride. the funniest story i have about something falling off a harley, is when we stopped for gas one time. when we headed out, my cousin forgot to wait for his wife to get on the back and away he went. we had to go chase him to come back. i still bug him about losing things off his Harley. -

i can see light and dark, but cannot tell what i am looking at through the right eye. i am now walking around with the right eye closed and trying to adjust seeing out of the left eye. i guess a patch may need to be used. man this is different. bike riding is out for now.
-
well, all of a sudden yesterday, i lost sight in my right eye. i went to the hospital and they checked me out, ran a whole bunch of tests and scans, checking to see what is going on. doc said that i have lost vision in the right eye and it most likely will not get better. so i am now adjusting to sight out of one eye. i go today to an opthamologist today to get a second opinion. i guess bike riding will be on hold for a bit.

Hid headlight conversion
mother replied to Adavidson56304's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
do the upgrade, it is awesome if you can work a solder iron, read the writeup and remove the instrument cluster, open it up solder the jumpers in reassemble, install three jumper wires in the relay behind the headlight and you are done. a straighforward sat morning job. -
this is starting to sound like a script for a laxative.

when you cross into Canada, you should carry your passport, drivers licence. ownership and insurance. you will be asked to present your passport. if you have some time to enjoy the ride over to Bowmanville, take hwy 2. very nice scenic road, open winding, well paved roads driving through small towns , Kingston, Cobourg, Newcastle and get a flavour. if you need to make time than pound it on 401 while you are here we can meet up and take in a couple of bike nights once you get settled in. lots of nice one day or afternoon rides to do in this area. when do you figure that you will be in town? i live in Bowmanville right at 401 and the road you will be taking up to mosport keep in touch cheers, Scott

original solenoid was toast, removed from bike tested the single wire solenoid and nothing. ohm meter across main in and main out, nothing and relay not energizing, no click/clack. new one ordered from ebay , did not work. took out of bike to bench test, it does energize , but no continuity across main in and main out.

thanks for chiming in so quick guys, i will jumper the sidestand switch out and retry. i have done that before and also replaced sidestand switch a few years ago. maybe time for another sidestand switch. why does it have to poop out while in the middle of doing a job. oh well if i jumper battery to main starter hot wire the bike cranks, it is a 4 brush starter from a 2007, nice and shiny and i did test it before i installed. i will try to hunt down another stock solenoid tomorrow and try again.
-
i installed a 4 brush starter motor on my 86 i tried to start the bike and the starter solenoid went kaput replaced the starter solenoid with one from fleabay and tried to crank the bike a couple of times and the brand new solenoid went kaput. question 1 : am i supposed to use a heavy duty solenoid instead of the original. question 2 : now i dont have power to the wire that energizes the starter solenoid either. bike in neutral, on centrestand and the sidestand is up, it is in the run position, but no power to signal the starter solenoid to energize.

I think i need to resolder? (video)
mother replied to Flashesbuck's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
when i bought my bike i had all kinds of codes displaying and could not get pressure. boy i was thinking the compressor was gone and all kinds of stuff. well i got on this site and low and behold, did a search and there was a step by step of how to pull out the control panel, disassemble and how to redo the solder joints. once you have done one and see how easy it comes apart, you can almost do another with your eyes closed i used a desolder tool that i happen to have and resoldered the joints and that was many years ago. i had trouble with one error code years later and redid the solder joints again and all fixed. good luck and welcome aboard cheers, Scott -

Mk II headlight bulbs?
mother replied to Peder_y2k's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
HID is the way to go. i have tried probably 3 or 4 different types of bulbs and i still was not impressed due to the lack of nighttime lighting. when i installed the HID system, WOW. now nighttime driving on country roads is very well illuminated. the system i installed was basically plug and play. hook up hot wire to the battery and ground the black wire and the rest just plug and play. you will have to install a few little jumper wires on the headlight bypass relay which is behind the headlight. the new HID draws less amperage and the relay senses that low beam is burnt out and switches to high beam and the white indicator comes on. we can assist you with where the jumpers go if you plan on going this route. cheers, Scott
